I've had Canine Company install invisible fence at two different houses, and I was pleased both times. But I really want to review their mobile spa grooming service. I simply can't recommend it enough! Years ago, when I first adopted my dog, she was in desperate need of a bath, but I discovered that she could not handle stairs. My house at the time had no ground level tub or shower. It was winter, so I couldn't take her outside to the hose. Uh oh. Well, I made an appointment with the mobile spa, and when they had worked their magic, my dog was not only clean; she was ecstatic. It was clear that she had never been pampered like that in her life. From then on, we became regular customers. Canine Company hires people who truly love and understand dogs. And they always do a great job. The only thing I could complain about is that they're too busy these days! Once upon a time, it was easy to book a reservation quickly. Now, you need to book a decent amount out because they book up fast. They will let you know, however, if an appointment opens up sooner, and one often does. But all this goes to show how great they are at what they do. And especially if you have a dog who doesn't do well in cars, their convenient mobile service is a no brainer. read more

After spending over $2000.00 on this fence and more for training, I was advised that the only to resolve the issue was to pay another $299.00 which I cannot afford. I really don't want to bad mouth local businesses. In fact, I want to write only ones that are positive. But CANINE COMPANY makes me feel like it is my responsibility to share....they have ripped me off on two separate occasions and I cannot let it go. PLEASE be careful before you sign up for their service. They charge a 85$ DEPOSIT on a credit card just to make an appointment, and this fact alone should indicate that there is an issue. No free estimate, just pay us! Who else does that? At our first home we bought their 1700$ system, we lost the collar, and they charged us almost $400 for a new one. It is a crazy high expense once you paid 1700$ for their product. But we lost it, so I paid it, and bit our lip. what is the markup on that? 500%? I swore them off after that. Then purchased a home with an existing invisible fence. They asked for a deposit and I waited 4 weeks to have the system evaluated. Then the technician came to evaluate the current system, after 4 minutes, we discovered the system was not useable. Even though the technician tried to get them to discount the $179 (tax included) they refused!!!! I then called and Shane told me he didnt understand why I would ask for a discount. I said it was because his technician was at my house for 5 minutes. They finally gave me a discount and I paid $129 for 5 minutes of a visit. No work was performed. WHAT A SCAM. If you don't care much about money or value, then go for CANINE COMPANY, otherwise save your money. Their premium brand is just too costly. Save the money for your puppy! They act like they care about you and your dog, but once you are a customer, you will see they care about the $$$$. read more

This is a review for their mobile dog grooming service. We have the invisible fence and use their drop-in pet visit service. Both of those work great for us. The grooming unfortunately did not. I used the grooming service 3 times and would not recommend it for two reasons. First, the pricing is not transparent, and the groomer has discretion to charge what they want without notice. There is no set price list. In practice, this meant that I was charged different fees for the exact same service depending on the day. They also have an odd "deposit" system that I could never figure out. Second, at the last appointment, the groomer unnecessarily and without notice or consent completely shaved my dog. He has long, thick hair that takes time to brush through. She spent around 30 minutes total on him. I believe she did not even try to brush him. She also put him in the house and was going to leave without talking to me--I stopped her in the driveway. She charged me $150 for this. read more

We used this company for a few years for the sheer convenience. The groomers aren't very special, mostly just clipper jockeys. Over time, their prices increased such that we were paying more for a mediocre cut than my wife's beauty parlor visits. When we inquired about the steep prices, we were suddenly told that they couldn't service my dog anymore because "he gets aggressive at the blow drier"... How was I supposed to know this? Waitasec. Aggressive? My dog is the sweetest boy you ever met. He's great with our friends, our 4 & 5 year old grandchildren, our cats and other dogs. Is he afraid of things that make loud noises? Absolutely. He used to growl at the vacuum cleaner and the lawnmower. We broke him of that through basic dog training. This tells me that the company's groomers know nothing about dogs. Best case, its 10 minutes of training to get him past his fear of blow driers. Worst case? Fine. Don't blow dry him. Just towel him off. Not to mention that we're supposed to trust that once he goes into their mobile grooming vehicle that he's being treated properly? This company is not one I would use again. read more

Brad is the best! Last month he did an outstanding 2-acre canine company fence installation at my new property. In additional to being professional, knowledgeable, fast, and very friendly -- when Brad was done, the system worked perfectly. Not one glitch! Since I now live on a busy road, I really need and appreciate the Canine Company fencing system to keep my girlies safe. I was also very impressed that when I made the installation appointment, Canine Company was able to display my new property online, and we could jointly figure out the most efficient layout/design for the fence. Today Rob came and helped us with another break that occurred over the winter. He was on time, knowledgable and quickly solved our problem (in less than 30 minutes!). We first installed in 2008, and had nothing but the most positive interaction with the company. In recent years, there was a break in the line due to one of those big storms, but we didn't get it repaired because our old man dog knew his boundaries. Old man is gone now, and new boy in the house. I wasn't sure how hard it would be to reinstate. No problems at all. Also had them change the boundary a bit. No problem at all. Kyle T was awesome. Rolled around on the ground with Reggie before getting down to business. Assessed the (challenging) terrain, found the glitch in the line, extended the boundary, all warmly and kindly, I want him to come to thanksgiving dinner. I'd like to provide an update to my review of Canine Company. One of the owners reached out to me personally after the poor experience I had and has done everything possible to make it right. They sent a rep out to our house to check the fence boundaries and adjusted accordingly so that we do not need to change the intensity of the correction any longer. So far so good! This may have been due to a miscommunication and I take some responsibility for that. The quick response of the owner and desire to make it right ranks highly in my book! I have used this company for 3 dogs now within the last 14 years. With my third dog, I have paid for training and the fence to be reinstalled and then fixed after that. The on site workers seem to be very accommodating but the customer service and employees whom handle calls are very arrogant. They seem to have forgot the motto," Customers always come first." I ordered a new collar as my dog chewed the last one. The website in order to purchase a new collar is confusing. I received a collar that was not what I expected. Called and talked to a customer service person. He insisted on arguing with me that the collar would still work. Then I took a picture of both collars and used the email system, sending the picture along. Never heard a word back! I finally just sent the collar back and they now want to charge me for shipping again and a restocking fee because it was over a month that I received it.... I was astounded. Is that how you treat your customers?? I told them to keep the collar, I didn't want it. For them to nickel and dime me when I had called them right away and emailed to let them know there was a problem?? When I asked to speak to a manager, the agent said that he was out to lunch. Really?? that is the oldest line in the book and such an insult to my intelligence. But, after all the training and service I paid to have the fence up and running, my current dog still runs through the fence. I have called and talked to them about it. I was reading another review that says that Canine fence has a guarantee? I was never told that? I will be more upset if charged for this service, whatever they do, as my dog has never stayed within the fence since it was put in. We had an invisible fence put around our property almost 13 years ago now and it has kept our dog happy, safe and within the confines of our yard. We have a breed of dog known to be escape artists but this fencing system has really worked for us. Once our dog was trained he was all set. We have over two acres of land yet putting in this system was really affordable, (especially compared to any other kind of actual fence) and allows our dog to roam all over the property. I am only giving them 4 stars however because for some reason we have had a lot of problems with the collar receiver and have had to have it replaced 3 times in the past year. But we are overall very pleased with this system and so is our dog who loves to have his big yard to safely play in. read more

We installed an electric fence with this company 2016, all has gone ok until now and reading all of the awful reviews. I should have known when the installation happened that the service would be no better. While our installer was burying the line my husband noticed that we had had a roll of that wire in our garage identical to what he was using so he offered the installer the wire and the installer actually accused him of taking that from his truck, then he proceeded to say oh, if you don't want it you can t just put it in my truck.. we were both pretty put off at the comments and the way the dogs were handled in training. We told him he didn't need to come for the rest of the training sessions. Fast forward we have a break in the line, customer service called me back with an appointment 2 weeks out, $160 er first half hour and 279$ for a new receiver. Can you say gouging ? I had 4 dog fences form Dog Watch out of CT, call Sue from Dog Watch, family run husbanding wife team excellent people and very reputable.. great with you animals also. Sales woman Amanda came out to meet me and my dog. She pushed for me to sign a contract and offered 10% off....took a "fake deposit" just so she had the contract. My husband asked for another $200 off (on top of the 10% discount), which she agreed to (and took a real $250 deposit) but never emailed over a revised quote reflecting both discounts. The night prior to install, she emailed the quote which did not reflect the original 10% discount. She then told me she could not do both. We ended up cancelling installation the morning of because she could not honor the previously agreed upon price. Do not trust this company. The will say anything to get the contract. I don't even know where to begin with this company. We purchased this fence for our dog in October of this year. It. Has. NEVER. Worked. After having 6 different technicians come out to "fix" our fence (they told us each time that the fence was in fact fixed,) I required Canine Company re-run the line. They made the mistake of sending the laziest person on their staff (who didn't mind sharing with us--over and over--that he didn't care as he had only a couple more days left with the company). I've never had a problem with the canine company or canine fence company as they used to be called. I've been a customer for close to 20 years, so i'm surprised to see all these bad reviews. Anytime we've had breaks in the fence they are always super quick to get out to fix it and we've never had a no show. I got several quotes from dog fence installers before selecting Canine Company. I did not want to deal with the maintenance of the system etc. They installed the fence two years ago and it has been reliable. We also have an irrigation system which we have not used in two years as it was a mandatory ban on watering due to drought conditions. The watering ban was lifted and we turned on the irrigation system. There were several pipes cut all over my yard and the water bill was very high (we ran it unknowingly), and the cost to repair the water pipes was over $425 to the irrigation company. It was very obvious that the Canine Company wire machine cut the lines as the fence ran in the exact same path as the cuts in the water lines in 6 places. I called the Canine Company and was told that since so much time has past we cannot provide any compensation for the damage caused to my irrigation system. I asked for a manager and the same rep came back and said "its the same answer". After pleading my case a bit more they relented and offered me a $50 gift certificate, which is a long way away from what it cost me in repairs. I paid the premium, top dollar to Canine Company, as they were the highest by far. I was buying service, and hoping to not deal with this kind of poor customer service and business acumen. I have never posted on Yelp, but just felt really wronged and dismissed by them when their machine clearly cut my irrigation lines in several places. I would expect this kind of service from a much lower priced vendor but not from these guys. I paid $500 more to have this fence installed than the next lowest bid. Also if you do not renew the "battery replacement plan" they will cold call you once a week at least. Their response to me as a customer really speaks to the culture and character of the company. There are local people that install these fences and rely on word of mouth to get their business going, not on money, and take responsibility for their customers. This arrogance will eventually catch up to them. Please think twice before hiring these guys. read more

I have been a customer since 2001. The trainers were excellent, and have always come back to help when we have had a new puppy. I've always had two German Shepherd dogs to contain, until we lost Rocky in 2017. This product has worked perfectly, and we have never had an issue with containment. We had a fantastic experience purchasing our Invisible Fence from Canine Company. The trainer did terrific job working with our dog and teaching us how to further train him. Most importantly, I LOVE our Invisible Fence because it keeps our dog safe. We have never had any issues with him getting out of the fence and he is still able to roam our yard and woods so even though he is contained he is not restricted. We had a sprinkler company recently cut our fence and when I called to get it fixed the person in customer service was very helpful and sent someone out right away. We looked at several companies when purchasing the fence for our dog and I'm really glad we ended up going with Canine Fence and The Invisible Fence brand. read more

Just an update.... after posting this review I received a phone message from a manager who offered me a discounted rate to have my fence repaired if the fence break was caused by something that was not covered under their contract. When the technician arrived at my property (Kristen) was very professional and I showed her the area where I thought the break had occurred. Upon searching for the break it was in a totally different area then what I expected and was actually caused by a wild animal ( guessing chipmunk as there were small tunnels close to wear the break was) had chewed the wire thus causing the break in the invisible fence. I think this whole situation could have been avoided if the call center technician ( Andrew) had handled my initial phone call in a different manor. My thanks to the manager (Kim) and the service technician (Kristen) for helping to resolve this situation in a positive way. read more

The system works and my Sottish Terrier has taken well to it. However if I could use someone else I would. There service is horrible! I considered using them for grooming but never would now! 1. The collar did not fit and I had to beg for someone to come the next day. 2. Flags were not marked correctly...begged 3. No sleeves were used in the flower beds, wrong 4. Power outage blew breaker and now same day they say a break to the line. Waiting a week to have it repaired "if" it is a break. This company, while the end result might be an effective way to keep your dog contained their customer service and follow through is POOR (and I could add many adjectives in front of that. . use your imagination.) We had them out to line our entire yard (which was not cheap, by the way) and when we turned on our backyard lights much after the fence was installed turns out not only did they clip sprinkler lines, they clipped our ENTIRE backyard lighting system. This cost us thousands to repair - and we receive a 'stipend' from the company for irrigation, nothing else. When I followed up - I had to chase them down countless times to finally get the "Sorry we're not responsible" answer. Poor customer service and poor follow through. I would recommend ANY OTHER dog containment system. They're all cookie cutter and customer service should set a company apart - it did - AND IT WAS AWFUL. read more

Would not recommend. They are very expensive and sound great on the phone but I had them come for 2 training sessions for my dog which costed me over $300 and lasted less than 10 minutes each. They did not do any comfort training like they claimed they would and now that my dog is still not trained on the fence and keeps running through they want me to pay for another session. They don't give specifics as to how long a session is and what will happen during the sessions. I don't want to pay another $162 for a session that lasts 10 minutes and does not help. read more

There was an existing system at a property we purchased. We asked Canine Company to come fix that system. They arrived, did something, and charged $300+. The following spring we tried to use the system with our new dog. It didn't work and the system just beeps. On closer inspection, we could see the wire on the surface of the ground on our whole property. It was never buried. Now they want to charge me to fix the system again. The business model seems to be: Charge a premium over local guys for service, do a horrendous installation, charge again for "service" and fixing their own sloppy work. read more

Oh, how I wish I had read these reviews before I used their service!!! I recently moved here from PA where I had an Invisible Fence for more than 4 years, and loved it! Never had a single issue. Who knew you would get charged more than DOUBLE for the same or less service!!!!! Paid $400 for 1 1/2 acres of buried wire back in PA versus $900 for 3/4 acre that is just under leaves and rocks around the edge of our property now. And if that wasn't bad enough, less than 6 weeks after installation my poor dogs' collars started rapidly beeping one evening WHILE THEY WERE IN THE HOUSE! Happened 3 times throughout the same evening Called the next morning and was told that it would be $160 for them to come out and $60 each 30 min over an hour plus parts if any were needed. Or I could have the protection plan for $299 for a year PLUS $129 for my second dog!!!!!! Seriously????? That only covers one year???? I would have looked into a completely different system, had I known this. It would have probably been cheaper to start from scratch but stuck with who covers my area if I wanted to use the good/trusted equipment I had used prior. BEWARE!!!! 5 stars across the board! This company is fantastic! From the Installation process to the next steps of assistance in training to then maintenance they are wonderful. I have farm animals that happen to break our line and it's happened a hand full of times... I do have the protection plan which I highly recommend. Literally every time I call the company comes out with no problems, is very professional, fixes the problems in no time, let's me know it's done and heads out. I also in the beginning had a few training issues with one of my dogs and they sent someone out to help in the training process. Very happy! I was shocked to read some of the reviews on Canine Company; I had to double check it was the same company we use. We always get a live person when we call, even on a Saturday (lost one of our collars). Every rep that has been out was wonderful. I didn't feel they pushed products at all. Our invisible fence system will be 20 years old next month. In all that time, our dogs have respected the fence and stayed safe. We live on a busy street and cars drive way too fast. With a large yard, this allows our dogs freedom to exercise, play, and relax, and gives us peace of mind that dogs are safe. We have only needed service twice in all that time, for breaks caused by humans (snow plow). Staff is quick to respond, courteous, and genuinely dedicated to keeping our dog safe. The price is very reasonable when you calculate it over the life of the system (about $13/month for our larger system for everything - installation, training, 2 repairs, and battery plan). Terrible business practices. After paying 500.00 to re-activate our electric fence system for a new dog, it broke down in 2 weeks. They insisted we send our transmitter and collar in the mail rather than send out help! They finally agreed to send us a new collar to try and told us to return the original collar. This was not the issue. We then called in another company who diagnosed the problem immediately (the transmitter) and fixed it for under 200.00. After hearing this, Canine co. had the nerve to charge us another 253.00, claiming they didn't receive a returned collar. After 2 calls and 2 emails, they still have not refunded the unauthorized charge. STAY AWAY!! read more

it is with great sadness I write this review. I have used Canine Company for over 10 years. yes, they are $$$ but my dogs are worth it! I had excellent service for over 10 years and they were prompt and professional when they came and responded quickly for a service calls when I called.. I cut the fence more times than I could count with gardening and the sprinkler company severed the line a few times as well. since we couldn't find the break, they spliced in a new line with the suggestion that I leave the wire on top the mulched beds so it was visible to all. I tried Amazon for the batteries to save money and that was a mistake as they did not last long. I have to also note that when I put my system in in 2003, I bought the forever collar which was a very costly but great idea at the time as over the years, the company has replaced them more than once.. I have since moved to South Carolina and will begin the process again with a new company. I brought my transmitter with me and my collars.. I am sorry for those that have had less than a great experience.. mine was only positive over those years from 2003 to last year.. read more
