Stopped in here to see what they had to offer and pricing. I walked through the isle and no pricing on anything. I asked the girl why she said due to a competitor issue?! I am from Bethany I don't know who the competitor is but I was just treated like crap by a young girl acting to know more about dog food than myself (who's owned dogs and bred then for many years) and my Vet who is very well known, knows German breeds, and has done allergy testing and this girl proceeded to tell me Vets don't know as much as the owner and my dog food is garbage that I feed.... Um hello you don't insult someone a future buyer like that AND my dog food sorry it's not garbage its Canidae Pure Grain Free and it works for my working dog. Not all dog foods are good for all dogs. This dog food works for my 5 yr old dog so to tell me it's garbage was an absolute insult! Maybe owner should rethink or retrain staff as this person was cocky, has no people skills, and definitely shouldn't be in customer service. read more

We had always fed Iams or purina to my dogs and they always constantly smelled bad. Their teeth were bad, their skin and coat smelled. Like Fritos! And just smelly dog. My dogs also had an anal gland problem. My vet didn't see an issue. Because smelly dog and anal gland problems aren't serious health issues. But it was an annoyance in my life. Someone told me about Thomaston feed and how I might want to switch foods. So I went over to Cheshire one day and Nicci switched me to different brand of food called natures variety. She said because it's a richer food, I don't have to feed as much. My dog was overweight at the time so she told me to feed him a little less. Which is perfect because I have dachshunds and it is dangerous for them to be over weight because they are prone to back problems. Within a week of them being in the new food, they stopped smelling. I couldn't believe it. When we ran out of the Natures Variety, my father started feeding them pedigree without my knowledge and I noticed them smelling again!! And sure enough I found out they had been eating something different. There is no denying that there are good and bad foods out there for your dog. And Nicci is very passionate and will take the time to explain the difference between the different foods. And it turned out she was right! My dogs are older now. I have a 10 year old and a 14 year old and they are now extremely healthy and active! read more

I have to give a shout out to Northpoint Pets and Co and the owner Nicci Decrisantis. We have had automatic delivery of dog food for Enzo from a mail order pet supplier. We could only get this special food from either the supplier or the mail order company. Both were delaying their shipments to customers. We were perilously low on food and feared we would run out. We contacted Nicci who immediately responded by email and phone and matched the best food for Enzo. She was so well educated on all the products. She had it ready for us the same day, along with a little treat bag for Enzo. She was a life saver for us as crazy dog people. My dog was having some digestive issues, and did not seem to like the dog food I was feeding him. So, I decided to try another route. I explained to the young girl these problems, and she gave me an alternative brand and some instructions on how to transition from the old to the new dog food. 04/22/16 - still have the best price on Natural Balance, but something has changed with how it's run. I'm not sure if the owners changed or if it's just new employees, but it's not a friendly atmosphere anymore. No greeting when you walk in and they won't even thank you after you pay. From a product perspective, Thomaston Feed is unique in that they carry raw food in addition to premium pet food brands. What really makes this particular store stand put is the staff. They are so knowledgeable regarding dietary health for your pets it's insane. I came here with my mom to consult with them on nutrition for her new pups - the owner must have stopped and talked with us for at least a half hour answering all of my mom's questions. This wasn't my mom's first visit that week either. I really liked how they took the time to discuss all of her concerns and point her in the right direction, not only giving her recommendations on what type of dog food to get them, but also fresh food from the grocery store that she might include, and information about which vaccines to get or avoid / best vets to consult on that side of things. This store is new to Cheshire and I had a great experience here today. I got there at 5:15 not realizing that it closes at 5pm. The owner must have seen me, and asked me if I wanted to come in. I repeatedly said no it is ok! But he said it is OK, he was just about to lock up. I quickly went in and was out of there in no time. I buy my two fur-babies Natural Balance dog food (which is usually 50-60$ per bag) and here with tax for the 28lb bag was $52.10. This is a great price, and Petco (with a coupon of some kind) is usually around $56 for the same food. They also have a frequent buyer club for this food (and probably other dog foods as well) and keep track of it so after you buy 12 bags, the 13th is free. One suggestion for this place is to actually label everything in the store, they have pieces of paper with the prices on it (makes it a little of a chore) They also have chicken feed, rabbit food, and other small animal supplies. Overall, very satisfied and I will go here from now on to get all of my dog supplies! read more

We LOVE this store. I have three large dogs with different issues- (one with skin, one with an extremely discriminating palate, one with anal glands :/ ACK) Nicci worked with us trying different foods and ended up with a great one that solved our issues. This is the place to go. Mark and his family are the top of the cream. I have 2 dogs and had been traveling Middletown to get a good quality food at a good price. We stop in because our food was on back order and though mark didn't sell it he was able to get us a better quality food that fit into my single mother budget. He also notice that our German Shepard pup need mass and suggested a raw diet and duck necks. Great result and a very happy pups. We have become a regular any concerns or question they can handle. From our cat that had skin issues that cleared with a diet change to chew toys that are pretty indestructible. Their knowledge of animals and their products are outstanding you will not be disappointed so stop on by and see what difference they can make in your love ones life.
