I have always had long haired dogs and in my experience, most people don't know how to properly groom them (I learned this the hard way when my dog wound up with a mullet). Debby has been breeding and showing lhasa apsos for decades, so her years of experience really show in the quality of her work. She has gone above and beyond for me more times than I can count, from trying to teach me how to groom my own dog (who stubbornly refuses to let anybody touch him) to calling me the moment my skittish dog is finished. I recently adopted a new puppy, and she scheduled a day for me to bring him by when she could spend time playing with him and giving him treats in order to get him accustomed to being groomed. She is a dog lover through and through, and she makes my dogs look like movie stars and smell like flowers.

Today, Ruby was a really brave girl and got her first grooming, ever. I always thought it would be unnecessary stress to have her groomed... but let's just say it was time! So, I called the Jedi dog whisperer (also the breeder and trainer and groomer for our dog moose) Shawna Davies and WOW!!! Wow wow wow, I can't understand why we waited so long now. Included is a before and after picture, but if you could smell this girl, she smells like a garden full of fresh flowers in the spring and she feels like a princess. I want to warn against going to soggy dog groomers. I have been taking my 4-year old samoyed there…read moresince he was a puppy - every time, I remind them NO trimming (you are never supposed to trim a double coat as it thermoregulates and protects against sun, cold, parasites, etc). yesterday, I picked him up and they had SHAVED his entire belly and elbow, claiming it was too matted and he "didn't like the brushing". he is usually there for over 4 hours - yesterday, he was ready in under 3, which makes me think they just didn't want to take the time to detangle (and instead just shaved). I asked them to please not shave him again and, in the future, to call me first. the response was "I think it's best you kind a new groomer." I am really taken aback by their hasty actions and incredibly rude response.

TLDR: We have a nervous pup, but the amazing staff make him feel comfortable and we love it here…read more For my Wife and I, it's always been difficult to find a place that we feel comfortable coming to repeatedly for our dogs. Like, in terms of toys and treats, most pet places are fine and great, but in terms of self-grooming or baths, it's always a toss up it feels like. But Dogma was immediately welcoming and amazing. Our dog is a rescue and a little reactive, but the staff always know how to calm him and are patient and understanding. We feel a little bad about the fur (he's a husky/Akita mix) and always attempt to clean up our own mess, but every time we're stopped by the staff. Not in a "no, don't do that" sort of way, but always in a "oh, you guys already did all of that work bathing him. It's our turn now" sort of way. Every time they're always so amazing and you can tell they actually care. We've been coming to Dogma ever since and our scared little boy has never been so calm during a bath. 10/10
