Canine Design is the best in the business when it comes to grooming. Although they specialize in grooming small dogs, they took my large purebred mutt in for a nail trim. They were willing to take me right away which was great! My dog Bear is not the easiest customer. I helped a little as the groomer cut and filed her nails. Price was $15. I gave a $15 dollar cash tip. The groomer Gotti was terrific. His masterful work on small dog hair styles was incredible. While I have been well aware that my senior dog, Bella, has been in need of a nail trim, I noticed today that she was developing some callouses on her paw pads and felt horrible for the discomfort that she might have been feeling. I immediately looked for a groomer, was impressed by the previous reviews made here and made an appointment for 2pm. I was a bit nervous because Bella does NOT like having her nails trimmed. They took her inside and put her on a table - there were even a couple of other dogs in there and there was ZERO fuss. I watched from the front as she looked at me like "how could you??" and she even let him file her nails.. like holy s**t! Maybe it's her old age and she has been a lot more chill as of late, but, in the end, she wasn't traumatized, which is the most important of all. We'll come back, for sure. read more

One of our dogs, Winter, is a Bearded Collie -- think Walt Disney shaggy dog movie -- and needs regular brushing. We're okay with the groomer who brushes Winter out every week, but less so with the industrial style bathing line. My wife works near Canine Design and noticed how nice dogs look coming out. So she dropped in and, after some discussion, made an appointment for Winter's bath and comb-out. Wow! When Winter came out, her coat was not only beautifully brushed, but it had changed colors: The grays were now dark gray and the whites sparkle. Beardies are a herding dog and thus tend toward nervousness, but Winter had calmed down and was quite happy. Winter was placed in a pen (not a crate) for 10-15 minutes while the Westie ahead of her finished, and we got a phone call about 15 minutes before Winter was done. All told, bath, brushing, nail trim took about two hours and cost $60. Deducting costs for space, materials, utilities, etc., this amounts to something like $25/hour, which is so reasonable we felt obliged to add a good tip. And then made an appointment for our poodle. Canine Design has one dedicated parking space in the lot off E Street. You can get directions when you call to make an appointment. read more

We were referred to Canine Design by a friend from our dog park and we couldn't be more grateful! Gadi, our groomer, and his team gave Kai, our labradoodle, the best cut and treatment she's ever had. Kai's disposition on our arrival was the calmest we've experienced. Gadi was able to manage what little matting Kai had and was able to keep most of her length. The final product was jaw dropping. Kai looked like a puppy again with her cottony soft coat. My wife and I couldn't keep our hands off this poor dog the rest of the day!!! This place is The Best! Amy at Canine Design does professional dog grooming. She does it with care & at a great price. And, she has appointments on Saturdays. I've been taking my dog to Canine Design for 9 years. My mother took her dog there for years before that. Her dog was skiddish and Amy would always go the extra mile to make both the dog & my mother at ease, feeling safe & secure. I love the way Amy grooms my dog. He's a shelter dog & she makes him look like a million bucks! She has no trouble clipping him a certain way if I ask. She does more than just cut. She notices if something is wrong with the dog, like a bump or skin irritation. It's obvious she cares, about the dog, how it looks & that every dog & owner have a good experience. This is by far the best dog groomer around!! I've been to all kinds of places with mom's dog in the past. Everywhere else, Babykins would completely resist, even cry as we approached. Not here! She loves Amy! Amy is devoted, passionate with the doggies and by far the most skilled when it comes to all breeds, including our toy poodle. She takes pride in maintaining a great staff of bathers. I have been looking for a new groomer who really knew how to groom Shih Tzu. I am a student at Dominican and there is a very nice woman who walks three of the sweetest, most well groomed Shih Tzu I've ever seen. I finally got up the nerve to ask her where she takes them and she told me all about Amy! I am SO glad!! Lola looks like a real Shih Tzu now. Amy did such a beautiful job! Her shop is spotless, she has a dedicated parking spot, her prices are reasonable (and what is more important, is that what she told me she would charge when I dropped Lola off is what she charged when I picked her up!!), and Lola was happy. As a new puppy owner I was very happy and will be taking my dog here for all her grooming needs in the future. We have taken our dog here twice and have absolutely zero complaints. The staff are great. The services provided are better than the couple of other places we've taken our puppy to. My dog has always been described as "great" and "good boy" when I take him to the groomers. Until I took him here. I'm not sure exactly what went down, but my sense is that he became more and more agitated while waiting the several hours for his turn on the table, and was thirsty to boot. I mentioned that he would be thirsty and, though she said she would give him water, she may have forgotten.. I got a call that he was snapping at her and I should come pick him up. She refused to groom him. He came home and was indeed VERY agitated. He also sat down at his water dish and drank, and drank, and drank... I was surprised because the other reviews of this place were quite good. This just didn't seem professional to me. If you keep a dog for hours without tending to his most basic needs (water, and perhaps letting him relieve himself), it's not a surprise that, if he's not happy, he's not going to be very interested in standing passively for a grooming. :( read more

My dog was cut way too close on the face and now she is all red and irritated. She has been uncomfortable since I picked her up two days ago. I feel terrible that I didn't acknowledge her barking when I dropped her off. She did not want to go there and she was right. I would not recommend this place. read more

I brought my 4 small dogs here to get groomed last week. They all look great! The only downside is that I personally feel 60+ dollars for a cut and wash on a dog is a little pricey, but it does seem worth it for the quality of the grooming on my pups. I will be back! read more

My dog loves going to visit Amy. We call it his "club" so that once he hears the word he'll jump right out of the car and run for her salon. I just brought our dog, Enzo, a Volpino Italiano, to Amy at Canine Design and they did a beautiful bath, nail trim and more and Enzo looked very handsome! The shop is small and each dog gets a lot of attention as the crates are all on one level where "the action" is so if any dog who is waiting to have their turn being cared for or waiting to be picked up gets upset or impatient, Amy or one of the wonderful groomers, goes to the crate to settle the dog down with loving words and care!
