Cookie and Wayne are the sweetest, most knowledgeable and experienced in the biz. They go above and beyond with our pets (our weiner dog Wally can be tough bc he's Uber protective and can be reactive as a pandemic pup) and they just have a way with dogs to make them feel comfortable and safe throughout the entire process. Us and our pups have had a good experience every single time we have come (which at this point is monthly for the past 3 years). At one point we tried other places in an effort to cut cost down a little bit but then our golden retriever had a bad experience at Petco, and we realized the personal touch that Cookie and Wayne provide our animals is more then worth the little bit more in price. I recommend this place to anyone who has a furry friend, but especially recommend for those who have dogs who need a little extra safety, care and attention. They came recommended to me by a few trusted pet owners a few years back, and I've been bringing Cosmo here ever since. The husband/wife owners (Wayne and Cookie) are such warm, loving people. They take care of Cosmo as if he was their own dog. They truly love what they do, and it shows. For $75, I can drop Cosmo off at noon and pick him up around 4pm looking all clean, pretty and happy. Their grooming salon is located in a small strip mall in Corte Madera. And as luck would have it, they're right next to a Pet Club. Wayne & Cookie are the real deal! I've been taking my dog Emma to them for over a year, and have nothing but great things to say about them. Friendly, professional, comparatively reasonable prices, easy location, fast & effective...and Emma is always happy to see them (a very important tell when it comes to groomers). The 1-star reviews here are so odd...not due to actually experiencing the service, but because Wayne & Cookie were too full to take on another dog or because they don't work with certain breeds? I called to schedule an appointment for my dog. The person who answered the phone asked what type of dog it was? When I let her know it was a laberdoodle she rudely told me that there were no appointments available ever for us. I asked her why and she said that Laberdoodles are time consuming and if it was just a lab it would be OK. I can't believe that this place stays in business. Why would would you turn business away based on the breed? If it takes more time then just charge more money. I highly recommend you don't waste your time with this place. read more

Customer service = ZERO stars I wouldn't know about their actual grooming competence, since I'll never take my business there. I called the other day with a quick question - I wanted to know if they used dremels for nail trimming, as I've heard they're more humane. The woman cut me off mid-question, told me they don't use dremels and they don't do "just nails." I wanted to ask her my second question - if they could groom a dog without picking it up --- my dog has a tumor in his stomach that prohibits him being picked up. Before I could get past "I have another question - here's the situation --" I was cut off, told "I don't care what the situation is" and "we don't do just nails" and hung up on. Unbelievable. I WANTED my dog to get a complete grooming, I just didn't know if they could do it. The woman never even understood what I was asking because she didn't listen, she didn't even let me speak. She just ASSUMED I only wanted my dog's nails done, cut me off, was rude and hung up on me. Forget them. With service that bitchy, it's no wonder they can only handle working with dogs. read more

I can't believe what a job they did- they even cleaned her mouth!!!! This groomer does a great job. I swear Sweet Pea looks cuter after he receives his spa treatment. Who knew it was possible? They do a great job clipping his nails and getting rid of layers of pug undercoat. He has been there multiple times and enters willingly despite his distate for bathing. I dont know their secret but at other establishments, Sweet Pea is one and done despite the doggie treat at the end. The owners are just wonderful. Very nice and clearly dog lovers. Lots of parking and the store is on the backside of the mall. read more

I was hoping to get a monthly grooming service and anticipated that after bathing Knight a couple times a rapport could be built between dog and groomer. He really is a gentle giant. We brought all 3 dogs in yesterday (2 70-lb. English Bulldogs and 1 smaller French Bulldog) and all 3 dogs left with tails wagging and smelling great! They were extremely accomodating over the phone and were able to take us the day of calling. Upon arrival, it was immediately clear that both owners love dogs. I have a very sensitive border collie and over the years I have learned to trust his judgment. When I took him to other groomers he would refuse to go in the door but that all changed the first time I took him to Tamalpais Dog Grooming. They made him feel comfortable and relaxed and dealt with his issues and nervousness. Although he is still not crazy about taking a bath he doesn't pull my arm off trying to avoid going in the groomer's door, as long as the groomer is Tamalpais Dog Grooming.. Even when we were having a construction project at our house, which made the collie a nervous wreck, Wayne and Cookie understood that he needed a warm bath and a massage to help him with his anxieties.
