I called to schedule home service care for my two cats for a total of 3 days (July 10 to 12, 2021)…read more Christina and Jen came out to my home to meet the cats and so I could show them where the food, litter, and treats were located. At that time the assured me that they would come for the scheduled days and send me pictures or updates regarding my cats. When I left home on Friday I left out 2 bowls of water and 4 dishes of food. Every day that I was away I received pictures and/or updates about my cats via text message. When I arrived home Monday evening (July 12th), both bowls of water only had water covering the bottom and the food was only covering the bottom of ALL 4 food dishes. I have left my cats alone for 2 days in the past, with no one coming into the home to check on them, with the same set up of food and water(2 water bowls and 4 dishes of food). After 2 days of the cats being alone in the past, all of the bowls would still be about 80% full when I returned home. That was not the case when I returned after 4 days away with people supposedly caring for my pets. There is no way that they were filling their food and water daily, like I had contacted for them to do. I was very disappointed, but decided to just pay my bill and move on. I recently requested my keys back and they informed me they would be sent back via certified mail and there was a $20 charge to mail them per our contract. The same contract that stated the cats would be cared for daily. Their audacity in asking for $20 to get my keys back is what prompted me to leave this rating. I normally do not write reviews, but I wanted to warn others who care for their pets as much as I do, to BEWARE OF THIS SERVICE.

My experience here could not have been better. I did loads of research on trainers prior to making…read moremy decision, as I had specific issues I needed to work on with my dog, Gus. I wanted to be involved in the training along the way because part of my struggle had been establishing dominance/ taking the lead. I wanted to be working on that dynamic from the beginning, not just trying to take over once someone else trained him. Sit Means Sit was the perfect blend of introducing concepts to both me and my dog, setting the foundations with repetition (took some of the legwork off my plate), and then after each session practicing with both me and my dog to assure we were understanding. My at home lesson was invaluable. Talking through our issues in the space where they are occurring was crucial for customized tips. Some concepts are difficult to implement in certain setups, and Lisa was genius at thinking of alternatives. It can also be hard to describe what's going on without seeing it. The at home lesson gave that opportunity and Lisa was able to understand my dog's excitement and not only better explain his actions to me, but also she was able to suggest more creative ways to work with him in our unique space. Before training, Gus was next to impossible to walk. I'd spend 30 minutes standing in one spot waiting for him to calm down and give me attention. He pulled me so hard once going after another dog, he completely took me down. After training we are able to enjoy walks at my pace (not a constant sprint ). That's just one highlight of the improvement Sit Means Sit accomplished with my big ball of pure energy. I had such a wonderful experience with all the trainers I worked with. Christina had a great sense of humor that I looked forward to during our sessions with Gus. Someone who can laugh with you about how awkward you look and feel learning new concepts is a gem. Evan was like an accidental therapist who you don't mean to spill your guts to, but you do because his energy is so calm and understanding. THESE are the types of people you want working with your family pet, and with YOU. I can get tense training my dog, but they put me at ease the entire time. Additionally, Alicia was remarkably accommodating to my insane schedule and always able to promptly connect with me and figure out how to get me in. I'm a sucker for customer service and Alicia's bubbly personality is a perfect fit. I was so impressed with SMS, I signed up for puppy class, too. I know training can be an expensive investment and you want to be sure it's worth it-- this is worth it. Don't waste money doing multiple other trainings that don't quite click because they are more affordable. Do it right the first time here!

She did however have a terrible habit of pulling (think of a sleigh dog. That's what she looked like while pulling us, ugh) Enough was enough. Eventually we would have gotten hurt or she could have gotten lose & hurt herself / another dog. She also showed aggression towards other dogs and growls, barks and pulled even harder than normal. Inside she was a princess and outside she looked like a mean evil pitbull. It made us as dog owners look bad. Plus, we couldn't enjoy our summer with an uncontrollable dog. We decided to head to a free consultation. We were referred here by the owners husband. After the consultation they said most likely she won't need a harness anymore, only a leash. I laughed on inside. Guess what.... They were right. Since training, we've only needed a collar.. No more harness! We did the 3 day training program which meant penny would get dropped off here and spend 8 hours with a trainer 1 on 1. It also includes 1 day at home which was very helpful & 3 months of group classes which are 2x a week. They took videos of her training and sent them to us. In the videos they explained what they were doing and why it worked. We can always look back on those videos if needed. That's very helpful! The price seemed steep at first but essentially you are getting 3+ months of training for the price. Peace of mind knowing my dog is safe is priceless. Linda and Bridget did an excellent job. Penny Is more controllable now and doesn't pull on the leash. Group classes will really benefit her and I can't wait to start. I'm thankful for sit means sit. I used to dread walks and we couldn't even do fun stuff like the parks or camping. Now, we can finally have fun with our dog. Most importantly, she is much more safe since we can control her.

They have a safe environment and trainers that are able to provide my pup socialized skills, clarity in communication and time that I wasn't able to provide him with. Elissa is so kind, patient and very supportive. Honestly, all their trainers are so passionate about dogs, they care about them so much and advocate for the dog's success, they will all help you to become a better and responsible dog parent. I LOVE that they help me strengthen the bond with my beloved one and there for me all the way through (super responsive!) My pup came home more confident, focus and happy. He is now a proud CGC pup, were able to enjoy our outings safely together and have a great start to discover all the adventures life throws our way. The best part is that we will have their support for life, join the community and learn about more training to bond our relationship in a healthy way. The upsetting part was that I wished I had known and started with them and not waste my money on other trainings prior! I'm definitely coming back here when I get my second dog. It's SO worth it.

Paw & Order had some availability for an in-home consultation that would last about 1.5 hours and cost $100. The trainer was named Jamie, and she arrived at our house on time. She had a pleasant personality, and she talked in depth with us about our dog's behaviors and her proposed training techniques. She spent most of the time talking with my husband and me, and she observed my dog only for a couple of minutes in a bed and on the front stoop. Jamie said that Paw & Order uses balanced training that combines positive reinforcement (e.g., adding a desirable stimulus to increase a behavior), negative reinforcement (e.g., removing an aversive stimulus to increase a behavior), positive punishment (e.g., adding an aversive stimulus to reduce a behavior), and negative punishment (e.g., removing a desirable stimulus to reduce behavior). Jamie said that she would initially use positive reinforcement (e.g., a door bell and a lure stick) with my dog to build her confidence. Then she would consider using a choke collar, a prong collar, and an e-collar that feels tingly. She said that she probably would not use the prong collar, but my husband and I would need to consent to using the other collars. At the end of the consultation, Jamie gave us a contract to consider signing. The contract said that we would receive 4-5 sessions within 6 months of the start date, and lessons would typically be scheduled every couple of weeks. The total cost would be $1,835. We would be required to send a weekly text or email about the dog's behavior as well as upload a video showing each household member working with the dog. In the end, my husband and I ended up not hiring Paw & Order to train our dog. (Our adoption contract with the animal shelter had prohibited choke chains, prong collars, and shock collars, and the shelter employee specifically mentioned to not use this company.) I, however, do feel thankful that Jamie gave us some useful training tips, such as using hotdogs, a bell, and a lure stick.
