I stayed here only one night but it's the perfect place to stay at near downtown Troy. Highly recommend the Venezuelan spot right nearby "Oh Corn!" and Jacob Alejandro for some delicious coffee. The room was very clean, cozy and cold. The perfect way you want it! The blackout curtains kept all the light out and during the day it had some amazing natural light coming in. The lobby area is perfectly equipped with lots of TVs, booths, seating areas for business meetings or just getting some work done and hanging out. Overall, great place to stay at if you're in the area. There's so much to do in Troy and so many fun local businesses to visit!

The hotel is super clean and looks and feels like recently built. Mattress was comfortable, the curtains provided full darkness, the climate unit worked smoothly, and the bathroom was excellent and clean. Location is very convenient, close to highway exit. That would be a perfect stay, but unfortunately there was a serious problem with noise coming from the highway and Hudson bridge next to the hotel. Buses, trucks, motorcycles, crazy road racers, etc. - we heard all of them, especially as the morning was approaching. The noise was heard even with earplugs, though this way it was tolerable. Hotel in such location must have sound proof windows. We've been to many hotels next to highways but never had a problem with noise. Had to read other people's reviews. We can recommend this hotel for those for whom heavy road noise is not an issue.

I stayed at this hotel recently for a weekend-long event, and I enjoyed my time here. Our…read moreaccommodations for the convention worked out well, and we even have room to grow. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food for the meals we got for our event were very good, delivered on time, and the staff were very professional. The layout is a bit nonstandard in that the floors below the third are labeled (in descending order) as L (Lobby), BL (Ballroom level, which is where you enter), and ML (I don't remember what that stood for, we never went on that floor). Check-in was a breeze, and coffee is provided in the morning in the lobby. Meeting/function space is available on all the "L" levels. The hotel has a dining area. Breakfast is available a la carte or as a buffet for $12.50, which was a very reasonable price for what was provided. My room, a suite, had a view of Troy to the west and south. The shades made the room VERY dark at night (a plus), but since the hotel is along Route 7, you could hear traffic, particularly motorcycles and sirens, at night (a minus). The hotel is "slightly" older (I heard it's 15 years old), and it reflects that in some ways, including a traditional shower, and key-into-slot access instead of proximity/tap keys. One quirk about my room is that the bathroom door swung out and actually overlapped with the space for the door into the room, meaning if the bathroom door was open, you couldn't open the other door easily - rather poor planning on whoever designed this. There were a couple of very small glitches with my room, but they were easily and quickly fixed by the staff. This hotel is a good choice for a stay in Troy. It's not adjacent to either downtown or RPI, but it's reasonably close.

We learned that one should request a room on the quiet side of the building or get a room on the 6th or 7th floor because of noise from the very busy street---the 1br were only avail on the street side and having a room on the higher floor didn't really help...pretty noisy. Being on the 6th floor....water temp and pressure were issues. Lastly, as a diamond member you are supposed to get a $10 credit for yourself and one other registered guest in your room --in my case, my wife. Just reviewed our bill and noticed we only got one credit each day even with receipts that clearly indicated 2 people....and yes, rechecked to make sure my wife's name was on the reservation and it was. So....couple things they need to work on.

The building itself is impressive, although maybe not quite as impressive as the castle-looking building next door. Our party of seven settled in at the bar as there otherwise did not seem to be a large enough table for all of us to gather around in either the main lounge area or a small room off to the side. The dark wood paneled walls, large fireplace, assortment of easy chairs, couches, and high desktop table gave off a feeling of warmth and welcoming. The friendly bartender introduced herself (sorry I've forgotten her name) and informed us that spirit-wise, the bar was capable of preparing the standard, traditional drinks like Manhattans, martinis, etc. All beers were poured from cans, and at my request, she recited the names of about six that were available. I don't believe anyone in our party inquired about the wines that were available. The building simply calls out for an explanation of its history. Upon our request, the bartender offered to provide either the "brief" or "full" option. We requested the full history. She was obviously well up to the task. You would be amazed at the variety of things you could learn here. Just to touch on a few key topics that were mentioned, consider Alexander Hamilton's wife, puffed rice, Bab-o cleanser (cue up the jingle), Bishop Gibbons, and an orthopedic surgeon. I don't know what the normal food arrangements are in the Lounge. I'm guessing that our out-of-town hosts requested some snacks for us as a few bowls appeared with mixed nuts, crackers and cheese, fresh grapes, humus, and warm pretzel/croissant rolls, and a plate of prosciutto wrapped cream cheese. Overall, the atmosphere here is simply friendly and inviting. I think it will become an occasional gathering place for our local friends when looking for a place that is quiet and relaxing.

The rooms are furnished with just the right amount of furniture allowing the room to feel light and airy. Each room is designed with the right amount of seating for flow and multiple conversation points without anyone feeling crowded or being interrupted by another conversation. Although the rooms have dark paneling the large windows and French doors allow for an abundance of light. The backyard is lovely and flows into Washington Park! Imagine having a whole park as your backyard!! I would love to come back for a stay!

From the street and the upper parking lot this hotel looks closed but drive around to the main entrance and everything starts to take shape, The front steps lead up to a very cozy lobby with a fire in the fireplace and beside that is the front desk. The staff at the front desk were very efficient and friendly with getting us checked in. The whole decor is colonial in style without being stuffy. The room was different in style than the front lobby. The room was extremely comfortable and cozy which was needed after a long night of travel and the first college tour. From the desk and headboards the style was a bit more modern with the bathroom door being a barn door style . The room was very quiet and the view was serene. In the morning the complimentary breakfast was a little above average with a couple unique items like fresh scones. This is a place that I would book again if I needed to stay in the area. When you get to the airport call the hotel and have the shuttle come pick you up. It is comfortable and free and runs from 7am to 11pm. Definitely this was a good perk. The hotel has a nice old wood paneled lobby that has some questionable updates. Is ok though and they have fruit water on tap. Elevators were quick. The room was nice, a reasonably good size with a comfy bed and a large bathroom. It was great. You can go and walk around the neighborhood and see the state Capitol, county and city buildings, and many restaurants and food trucks. The surrounding buildings are a mix of the best 1880s and 1960s architecture. When it is time to leave go to the lobby and take the shuttle back to the airport. I booked this hotel with Marriott points and I thought it was very reasonable for the quality. I don't know the cash value.

The climate controls in the room also worked exceptionally well, which made for a great night of sleep. Parking was quite easy too. The hotel garage is convenient, and I liked that you can basically "pay" for parking with your room key during checkout, then just drop the keys in the box at the garage exit on your way out. Very smooth process! The location is excellent as well -- just a couple blocks from the government buildings and right in the middle of downtown Albany. Overall, a very comfortable and convenient hotel experience. I'd definitely stay here again.

I think I may look for a different accommodation when next in the Albany area, however. LAST SPRING I enjoyed two nights in a first floor room that was reasonably sized, with the comfort I have come to expect from other Microtels. Not too big and not too small is what keeps me coming back to the chain. The breakfast offerings were light. THIS EARLY SPRING I came back to the area and was given a second floor room that had clearly not been cleaned. The bathroom area was also unusually and unpleasantly rusty in appearance. To their credit, the staff obliged in my request for a room change. The follow-up room, also on the second floor, was adequate but not as up to date and spotless as I remembered from the first floor experience in 2024. My biggest complaint was the room was freezing when we entered which was pretty alarming. It took a bit for us to get the temperature comfortable to be able to take off our coats. There was pretty bad airflow in the room. The check in process also took quite a while which was frustrating.
