I play with a Zydeco band and Zack has hired us to perform on every other Monday night. It's been going well but I wanted to see the place as a regular customer would, so we chose Easter Sunday to try out their specialty brunch (available 11-3 Saturdays and Sunday)...and they did not disappoint!
Imagine: their Farmhouse Breakfast, featuring two farm-fresh eggs, cooked in butter and lightly salted, with two rashers of premium bacon, two links of handmade sausage, two flat squares of delicious, seasoned fried potatoes and two slices of Proof sourdough bread, toasted and served with butter and small-batch perserves. It was heavenly! The bacon was so much better than anything I've had in the past 26 years, and it was all served hot on vintage plates with gold trim and hefty cutlery.
This isn't just brunch: it's an experience, in a tastefully restored building on the border of gritty Detroit city and affluent neighborhoods of the Grosse Pointes.
There's three floors here, with the main floor, a well-appointed second floor for entertainment with its own bar and restroom, and an open-air rooftop space that's patiently waiting for summer (like all of us).
Live music is the focus, as well as oysters and mussels and all manner of upscale food, obtained locally whenever possible. The owners are pro-Detroit and are dedicated to making their mark on the restaurant scene...come see what you didn't know you were missing! read more
