Meats piled high on a crusty but chewy hero roll. It is funny because I had one in their Manhattan store and it was not as good. This was a delight. The staff is knowledgeable and right out of a Brooklyn that once was. A friendly butcher, beautifully arrayed food, all served with a smile and well wishes. But I guess the customers that give the butchers money on the side as we see in front of our own eyes take precedence over loyal customers who never shopped for meat anywhere else in Bay Ridge. Lesson learned, you lost a repeat customer because your butchers give meat to who they want and save it for the people they like (who can give them money on the side). I guess bakhsheesh is more important than repeat business and customer loyalty.

When it's packed inside, you can barely move without having your body touching someone else's body. They have two small aisles to walk through, but if someone brings in a stroller or their personal food cart, you won't even be able to walk pass. You might have to put up a fight if you want to get from one end to the other. With only two cashiers majority of the time, sometimes three, their lines can get long and block up space within the store. Great place for good and fresh quality meat, but I'm telling you to come early or you'll get so aggravated with the amount of people inside the store. It can get quite overwhelming. This review is not for the vegetarians or the hippies…read more For those of us who eat meat, this is where you can have a freshly butchered chickens, ducks, silky or guinea hen. The place was clean. There were clean floors and clean cages. I smelled birds but no poop or rotting anything. The chickens have fluffy smooth and beautiful feathers. The ducks are so cute and seem to be waddling about in their cages quite happily. One Guinea hen gave me an angry look; Do you think that she was self aware enough to hate us? Probably. The other fowl were quite contented looking and were human friendly. The wells for water was clear and clean. The animals were drinking from there freely. The poultry masters were very respectful to the animals. I overheard one of them say to a customer, "Make up your mind which one you want because don't go in and out of there over and over. It upsets them." Other customers told my Grandmother (the one who insisted on checking this place out) that the poultry here were absolutely the smoothest meat and sweet. Fear and stress often give meat a gamey consistency and a musky taste. I believe that if you eat meat, you should respect where your food comes from. Not only should an animal be treated well while alive, but you should appreciate what they have given you once they are on the plate. You shouldn't waste food because these creatures had given their lives to nourish your body.
