It's been over twenty years since I found Cantech. I wanted my car completely tuned and I wanted to get a set of wheels for it. They replaced the timing belt and did a bunch of things to get my car in prime running condition. Then they put those amazing wheels on my car and this really made it pop. Based on prior experience, the quality of workmanship is absolutely first rate, but the attitude of the young woman on the phone was absolutely awful. Probably a family member, they need someone better. She resisted my request for ordering tires ahead of time (one week ago I shredded a sidewall on a curb while traveling and had to put on a new all-season tire not matching the worn summer tires), she cannot communicate clearly, informed me that I couldn't wait while the service was being performed but, when pressed, said that I could if I were willing (I live 90 min away, haven't got many options). Her phrase was "All of our waiting appointments are filled", insisting that I drop off the car...but I can't do that living 90 min away and their facility is in a exurb industrial zone! Cantech prepped my car for Watkins Glen, and I likely wouldn't get anyone else to do that. But for regular maintenance, be ready for a girl with a bad attitude. read more

Cannot recommend Cantech enough for Mini owners in the area. Save yourself a trip to Rochester, they can do basically everything the dealer can and are some of the most honest mechanics I have worked with. They once diagnosed a check engine light that every other shop dismissed as nothing--turns out it was a failing high pressure fuel pump. Better yet, they found out there was a service bulletin on it and I could get it replaced for free at a dealer! Another time they saved me about $500 in parts and unnecessary repairs when another shop wanted to replace my functional window motor along with the broken window regulator. I have since moved out of the area, but they're still my go-to for trustworthy info on my Mini and they even took my call today answering questions the dealer wouldn't explain when I thought they were quoting an unnecessary battery registration service on my Mini without an IBS. They may not be the absolute cheapest shop in town, but I can almost guarantee they're the best value as they do things right and have treated me well for years. read more

Instead, Rocco answered my many questions in detail over the phone and via email. He also did a Zoom video chat with me to walk around the car and sent me pictures of the underside as well. He was very courteous, professional, patient and helpful with me. Over the course of a few days he built my trust in him enough to buy this car without ever seeing it in person or driving it. He has also gotten high ratings on other web services and seems to have established a very good reputation dealing in clean, high-end sports cars. Brought my car to Cantech since my dealer is in Rochester. They added numerous items to the quote and felt very pressured to have them done there. The main issue was fixed but my car started making some odd noises after they were done. Brought it to the dealer and the dealer says my timing belt is on the verge of breaking. Odd coincidence that Cantech missed that after they claim they had to drop the motor to fix the original problem. There customer service after the fact was horrible! They are direct, give good advice/recommendations on what service your car will need, and what it can skip. Always very professional and kind even when I ask 100 annoying questions. I began servicing my Mercedes-Benz here instead of at the dealer. The service advisor, Carl, is very helpful and knowledgeable. When it came time to replace the Merc, I purchased a MINI. Although the first three years of maintenance are included from MINI at no cost, the nearest dealership is 150 mies away. Between MINI intervals, I have Cantech perform oil changes. Carl, and the owner Rocco never sell me anything I don't need, nor do they ever rush me. They thoroughly answer all of my questions. Rocco even sells gently used MINIs. I would give this shop that fifth star if they returned the car with the exterior hand-washed. For maintenance of your car, this is the place to go! read more

My car was vandalized while in the care, custody and control of Cantech. I dropped the car of using the drop box service. They had the car, they had the key and their insurance agent called to tell me that they did not have care, custody and control of the car. Not the kind of business that you want to deal with when they can't take care of a customer's property. I certainly would have taken care of any of my customers property that got vandalized while on my property. Too bad after around 15-years of service with them. read more

My first experience with Cantech did not go well at all..I was surprised because according to some people they are a good place to bring your vehicle..I made an appointment for an alignment on my BMW and I was told by the service guy to bring it in on a Monday at 8 am which I did..I had to go to work at 3:30 pm the same day..I explained this to the service guy when I dropped off the car..He just replied we'll see which I found not helpful and rude..when I signed the paper work to leave the car I also noticed the amount to be charged was just as expensive as the BMW dearlership and I was told on the phone it would be 40.00 dollars cheaper at Cantech..I expressed my concern to the service guy and he just looked at me..I told him and myself no problem because the car is already here..I went back at 4 pm and my vehicle was yet to be touched or worked on..and I noticed some people who brought there car in after me where already done and gone..they wanted to leave me for last..I asked the service guy why did they tell me to bring in the car at 8 am if they where not going to work on the vehicle he said they tell everyone to come in at that time and was very rude about it..I just asked for my keys and left..I would not recommend this place to anyone..they just as expensive as the dealer and are very rude..just go to your dealer where they really know your car especially if it's the same price! read more
