This is the only place in town for the best rustproofing, Rust Check [Google Rust Check and be amazed]. They are so much more thorough and the water proofing solution they use gets everywhere it's needed. Check it out to save $ and your car. I've used their competitor's rustproofing, and it costs way too much and misses a lot of those secret little places where rust can form. Rudy's process is much different and much, much better. Additionally, they are the most pleasant people to deal with, and they keep appointments on time. I recently brought a vehicle that they had done work on 3 years ago because there was a rust spot beginning to appear in the rear wheel fender area. They had done work on the car but not necessarily in that spot; it was adjacent and they agreed to address it with no argument; maybe because I had been a returning customer. Well they did the work and cleaned the interior of the car as well. My father used to use this same body shop years ago. Someone hit me and left me a note when my car was parked. I called Rudy's and they got the insurance adjuster to look at my car and approve the repairs proposed almost instantly. I was told by the insurance company it would take at least 4 days to do the repair. They got it done in 3. Also, they took care of getting me a loaner so I had wheels when my car was in the shop. Their coordination and customer service was excellent. I felt that my time was valued and respected and I did not have to spend a minute extra on an already unpleasant ordeal. In addition to my very positive body shop experience, Rudy's is definitely the place that I come to whenever I need help with my car. For a woman who does not know cars, their honesty is priceless. I had to take my car into Rudy's this morning to get the ABS light checked. I have recently moved to the east coast (which comes with a lot of expenses) and was stressed about paying pointless money at a car shop. I was quoted 79$ on the phone to have my car diagnosed. When I went into the shop it was very professional (I had to bring my puppy in, and no one had an issue with it) the ladies working at the counter were extremely kind and offered coffee numerous times. It took about two hours (the shop was really busy and seemed to be running very smoothly) and I was informed periodically on the progress. At the end of my baby's diagnostic tests, my total came to 45$. I was incredibly (and pleasantly) surprised. There were about four other costumers who passed through the shop while I was waiting, all raving about how fair and honest the staff was. That was obviously true considering I was quoted 35 dollars more than what I had to pay. The people I had talked to were having everything done from body work to serious repairs and all are long time and loyal Rudy's costumers. I made an appointment that day to get rust check/undercarriage coating done on my car and my boyfriends truck, and to have the ABS repaired because of how impress I was by the way the shop ran and the way costumers were treated. Someone rear-ended me driving from South Florida to NY. The accident happened on the I-270 in Maryland. The guy's insurance recommended two shops to me and after doing my research I decided to go with Rudy Schmid Body shop due to the positive reviews on yelp and google. He explained everything to us and said he would turn in the preliminary estimate to the insurance company. After all that was done, I was able to take my car back to the shop; the customer service that I received was spot on! The lady at the front desk was very pleasant both in person and on the phone. I haven't received my car yet but will def write a follow up review after the body and mechanical work has been done. Received my car and it was flawless! I am very impressed with the work! Had Rust Check applied when I first bought my 2014 vehicle and the annual check up, application since then. I would not recommend this product at this business. Last year the dripping lasted for several weeks and this year the Rust Check application dripped for well over A MONTH. Last year PJ said that the person applying the product must have had a heavy trigger finger (or words to that effect). I reminded the person at the front desk of the problem when I dropped off my vehicle this year but that didn't help. I certainly won't use Rust Check again. read more

I brought my car in because my breaks were shuddering upon use. They had my car for 30 minutes and said nothing is wrong with it and it must be a sensor. I requested they look again because I don't know anything about cars and my breaks make me nervous about driving. Came back and stated I needed wheel bearings. Quoted me for 80$. Just got my bill for approx. 380$!!!! Although this might be standard cost, I stated I knew nothing of cars. Their communication skills are egregious and I am shocked by their good reviews. read more

UPDATE 2: Very happy to update that this has been resolved. I am pleasantly surprised that RS stood by their work 4 years later when most other companies would've brushed it off with one excuse or another. Diane from RS communicated with me regularly to figure out a convenient time to drop off the vehicle. She informed the staff, had a loaner vehicle available, and was ready to have the paint manufacturer come out to verify. I dropped it off Monday and picked it up Friday afternoon. All in all, it was a very smooth process. The bumper was repainted and there are no signs of the bubbling/cracking/peeling. This is a 180 from my original review, but truly RS followed up appropriately and honored their warranty. read more

I had the pleasure to speak with Missy Stevens - Office Manager at Rudy Schmid Total Car Care with regards to Rust Check for our used Mini Cooper Convertible. Missy was very pleasant and informative regarding the Rust Check product and application process. After further research, I found that Rust Check was the only choice for keeping my vehicle protected from the harsh elements that we experience in Upstate New York during our winters. I arranged for an appointment and was informed that the Rust Check service would be approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. My vehicle was ready as promised and I was able to speak with the service tech that applied the Rust Check product. PJ Schmid handled my check-out process and was very helpful with providing me with a couple of plastic body rivets (no-charge) that I needed. Do NOT get your vehicle rust proofed here! They do not honor the warranty if your car rusts and make up a bazillion excuses why it's not warrantied under the Rust Check agreement! I have taken all five of my Jeep/Chrysler vehicles for the last three years to Rudy Schmid. I am truly amazed by the service and quality of repairs I have received. Some of these were routine wear and tear and maintenance repairs. Another repair was from an accident - not my fault and had to deal with insurance and rental car. Diane and Carrie were extremely helpful and I did not have to deal with Enterprise or the insurance company at all. Lonnie did a fantastic job repairing and painting my vehicle. Good work and Rust Check. However, a bit pricey for maintenance work. Car storage prices is outrageous as will never leave a car there. Was going to have brakes done (replace pads only) but deemed it was too expensive at Schmid after receiving an estimate. I decided to DIY and save $200 installing premium ceramic pads with new hardware of my choice. Not sure what brand they use or source they purchase their parts from at Schmid. Automotive Maintenance Labor costs just too much these days and getting more difficult to service your own car as require specialized tools or other technical gadgets. But if you are willing to learn, go online aka internet and watch You Tube videos and maybe you can save yourself money providing you are in good health and have time or patience. read more

I recently move to the area and trying to find reputable and reasonable service was not something I was looking forward to doing. Two months ago I brought in my car for an oil change and new breaks. I then took my car back for some body work and snow tires. They gave me a quote for the work, called to confirm the work in progress, and the work that was done was what I had asked for and for the price they quoted me. I have nothing poorly to say about my past visits to Rudy Shmidt. Since early July 2018, I have been reaching out to RS to address some issues with rust. I have had rust check from RS every year that I have owned the car. Along with that, I have gone to Delta sonic to help support the rust check. I have not been able to secure a warranty repair or anything as of yet. It is now mid September. I have remained calm and have not pressured RS to honor their warranty so far. This has left me feeling as if I really don't matter to them after the sale. I may not be returning there for future business if I have to wait months just for an answer, not even the fulfillment of the actual warranty. BTW, my car is in excellent condition otherwise, excluding sun fade on the headlights and curb rub on some of the wheels. I hope this helps others when deciding to consider which shop to attend for their work. read more

I'm literally sitting here while I write this review I'm very disappointed with this shop I did my research before leaving my car at any shop and this was supposed to be the best shop in the Syracuse area... I beg to differ and this is all facts ...my car was brought to this shop on July 3rd 2017 when I spoke to he main guy that manages the work in the body shop Rob he told me that in addition to the insurance work that he would paint my back bumper for me just to pursuaded me to leave the car there which honestly played a huge role in why I left it there and was extremely patient with the process ... upon checking on the car few weeks before it was done the back bumper was off the car which excited me because I assumed he had kept his word as a honest business man however a few days before the cars finally over I go to check on the car and he tells that he won't be able to paint the bumper and that it had to much damage which to me made no sense because he was the one to agree to paint it in the first place. Nowww today is when I got it back august 18 so overall a month and half I never got any calls from the shop had to literally go there myself every week to figure out what the issue was .. one week they said they couldn't find the rim that was hit in the accident, the next week it was the door and on and on kept delaying the process to fix my car finally all the part are in and my bumper can't be painted and when I ask for a partial off the insurance money they think it's an issue and it isn't fair ... what isn't fair is the fact that I sat here for a month and half waiting for my car and couldn't get what you promised and upon driving my car out the body shop there's three lights on the dash that weren't there and now I have to sit here while they reset my light ... this shop does amazing work I can't lie however they lack communication and did not keep there word what bothers me the most is after all this they couldn't come to a fair agreement to make me walk out happy instead I'm here stressing about my car and have more issues then when I dropped it off ... I don't recommend this shop and know for sure that I will never step foot in it again well until my lights issues solved ... I had brake lights , abs and traction control lights all on when I went to drive it home ... prior to the accident none of these lights were on.. a month and half later leastbyou can do is make sure the customer goes home satisfied you made a promise and took your word back because you fell off schedule you promised me my car would be done in 2/3 weeks !!!!! Took you guys 7 weeks to complete my car and on top of that took your word back about the back bumper being painted over and tried to give me a oil change and thought I'd be satisfied and on top of that I have lights on the dash that were never there i am veryyyyyyyy upset wowwwwwwwww now I have to come revise my review I'm not even going home with my car today they need it to reset the lights and figure out why there's 3 new lights....... this shops a joke I swear 7 weeks later and I'm back in the rental car I don't even want my car anymore I swear I hate this place read more
