My third time there for minor body work. Their estimates are reasonable and their repairs exceptional. Picked up my Telluride today after some bum on Warren Street keyed the side of my car. The repairs were perfect. The big surprise was the credit card, long lost, left on the seat with a note "found by the Detail Team" Quite Awesome. Also discovered by the Detail Team was my girlfriend's litle purse of Bar Chips (multiple) under the seat. Missing for 18 months. I have taken my car to Walts many times. They are always honest and call me to let me know if my car needs additional work. They let me know the cost and ask if I want it done. The other day I scraped my car against a pole accidentally. As a young woman with her first car I was super upset. Today when getting my winter tires on I asked if they could also quote me on the pole damage. After I got my tires on a man (I think his name was Larry, I can't remember) walked outside and said it was an easy fix. He got a rag with something on it and managed to wipe it all away! So many places would've tried to take advantage of me but he did it with a smile and didn't charge me. Walt's is so great and dependable. read more

They could probably do everything car related. (i would call to get that confirmed though) My friend's car battery died on W genesee and one of their guys came to the rescue! They sent him our way, he jumped, and changed a new battery in under an hour! they get me in and out in under 10 minutes for tire pressure check. They do auto body repairs too. I visited this shop several times as of two years ago. My first two visits were okay, nothing special. Regrettably, I was taken for granted as a customer and on my last visit, I was told by Walt to pick up "this thing", meaning my car. You would think they were providing service free of charge to take such liberty with their customers. It was insulting and disrespectful. This, after billing me for hours of service during which my car sat parked outside the garage with no one working on it. That is not best business practice! Nobody ever wants to have to use an auto mechanic. It's never a fun time when your car starts making funny noises or driving not-quite-right. To add to my despair, I previously had a preferred mechanic in the area (Masello's), however, since I started working downtown, the logistics of taking my car to that shop have gotten more challenging. Luckily, Walt's is not too far from where I work, and after seeing good reviews online/hearing recommendations from coworkers, I decided to take my car there. I called ahead and made sure they'd be able to get me in-- the office staff assured me they would have time to take a look. I dropped the car on my lunch break, and had a call within an hour assessing the issues. The mechanic told me they should be able to complete the repair (power steering issues) by closing time, and true to his word, the car was ready by 5:30. The staff was very personable and communicative and made a stressful situation easier with their professionalism. Hopefully, my car won't need any other repairs any time soon, however, next time it needs service, I will definitely consider taking it back to Walt's. read more

After an ill-fated trip to the vet, I found myself with a seat covered in cat pee. I called around to multiple shops looking for someone who could get me a same-day appointment for interior cleaning services. Walt's got me in same day and was very realistic about their timelines given the short notice. They did an amazing job cleaning my car. I bought my car brand new 7 years ago and the inside of my car looks just as clean now as it did back then. Before they were done they brought me out to the car to recommend further services that I knew that I will soon need, but they didn't try to scare me or pressure me into doing it immediately, like some places I've been previously have. I will be going back to them for the services I still need and can't wait to try some of their car detailing services as well! Two words to describe Walt's automotive service: quick and efficient. I sent in a request for an appointment in their online messaging system and got a call five minutes afterward saying they could take me. I drove over right away. They are located across the street from Dinosour BBQ but Google maps instructions will take you to the front of their shop, which is on the right of Bamboo Asian Restaurant. The shop is very clean and well-maintained. Inside the office, they have a TV, a 1950s dining table area to sit in, lots of magazines, lollipops for sale, letters that customers wrote on the wall, and jarred fruit jam sold from Sue's Jams. I called around to other auto-body shops before I reached Walt's and neither were able to take me in today or this weekend. All of them said next week would be the earliest time they could take me. I needed my car repaired quickly because I was going out of town next week. My car trouble didn't begin until yesterday (very late notice). The woman at Walt's asked me when I needed my car by. She said they don't work on the weekends so she'd have my car done by today. Their garage space is airy and clean. I think this was the cleanest auto body shop I've ever seen. They do car detailing as well. The office had lots of cool vintage auto body memorabilia and plaques. There was a black and white picture of some guy on the wall. Maybe Walt? After I dropped my car off, I got my car diagnoses in about an hour! My brakes were metal to metal and changing them front/back cost $637 without taxes. Quote on getting 4 new all-season tires was $600-700 but it ended up being $561. They said they'd also store my winter tires for me for free! Then, I got a call a little later saying my pistons in my brake calibers were rusted and pushed out and needed replacement (another $362 plus $90 for the extra hour of service). I thought the brake service price was high but the tires were fair. The total was $1,654 without tax. It was painful, but my 2007 car has been loyal to me for a long time and it was probably due time that I serviced it. Overall, I'm super happy that I was able to get my car in last minute and have it all completed in the same day so I can now go on my mini road trip with peace of mind. They told me I had to remove my window tints to pass car inspection. He quoted me $25 bucks to remove it. But he didn't tell me it was $25 per window until I got my invoice and was charged $150. That was painful. They stored my tires for free, a service I thought was free to everyone. Then I saw on the wall today that it costs $65/per something to store tires. I went to swap out my all-season tires with my snow tires and it ended up costing $100. Also painful. They changed my oil for $36 with semi-synthetic oil. read more

I have been doing business with Walts for years. I cannot say enough positive comments about them. The employees treat you like family. Their work is top shelf and the price is right. Recently I had the misfortune of being involved in a traffic accident with my muscle car. Fours times now I've been in for various break downs and services. They are very communicative on what issues arise and anything that may need to be looked into in the future. Offer the best rates around and parts pricing. They do not take shortcuts because they want you coming back. Had shocks that were leaking and in poor condition a day after the alignment shop took the vehicle in and check off that the shocks were in good condition. Friendly customer service on the phone when I asked if I could bring my vehicle in for an inspection same day. I didn't require a reservation which was great. They were done within 30 mins and had a few recommendations for future and not urgent needs of the vehicle. 2 stars for offering online appointment requests. No more than that for having no one following up on requests. Sent in a request for 2 services because I had a car that wasn't running. Recieved an email that someone would call me to set something up to help me. 3 full work days later and I have yet to receive a call. My new auto shop! Went this morning-no appointment- for NY State inspection. Inspection was completed in 30 minutes-I passed. They told me the left from control arm bearing was going bad. $229 estimate & 2 hours to fix. Finished in 1 hour & only charged me $189!!! WOW!!! I brought my car in to get a bumper repaired after a minor fender bender and Larry was so easy to work with, called me promptly when the parts came in and was always thoughtful and courteous. They were fast, reliable and detailed and washed my car at the end. They took my car on Tuesday and I had it back by Friday and they even had a lender car for me. I was looking for a quality trustworthy mechanic when my check engine light came out after moving to the area. I had seen a lot of great reviews for this place so I decided to give them a call. They're the only place I take my car now. They're extremely reasonable with what they charge you and they'll never try and screw you over. They do great work and they always get your car back to you in record time, and the time you do spent waiting is very comfortable as the waiting area is very nice.
