North Star does big, serious and complex designs and installations for large homes and estates. My home and my project were both modest (by comparison) and he never treated me or my project any differently. I was given a clear estimate for the work, including a detailed break down of cost, products, sub contract specialists, and full technical details - all of which were easy to comprehend and imo fairly priced for the value. In fact, Todd spent extra time with me discussing my current installation and sharing his knowledge and experience with my products and my curiosity about them --it was like talking shop with an ol' friend. From start to finish, we could not have been happier with Todd and his team. When he first came to our home, Todd outlined a very detailed plan for lighting that would accent our home and plants. Importantly, he did not recommend an excessive amount of lighting but gave us a plan that would illuminate the driveway and walking paths and enhance our landscaping and home. He helped us select the appropriate fixtures for our architecture and landscaping and gave us a very reasonable proposal. On the day of installation, Todd and his team arrived promptly and got to work, removing our old landscape lighting, and installing the new transformers, power lines and fixtures. In a day and a half, the project was completed. Todd and his team thoroughly cleaned up everywhere they had worked and then walked us through all they had done. Interestingly, it was early afternoon when they finished so we could not see the "finished project" until the lights turned on that evening. Our designer notified the company of our intent to return the fixture prior to move-in, and we followed up within the first month of living in the home. Despite the item being a standard stock product, unopened, and never installed or used, the company declined to issue a refund and would only offer store credit with a 25% restocking fee plus return shipping. We are not attempting to return any other fixtures from our project and are simply seeking a refund (less reasonable restocking/shipping fees) on one unopened stock item. Given the scale of our overall purchase and the fact that this fixture was never installed, we were disappointed with the lack of flexibility.

Jeff's original estimate for the job was less than half of what Turn It On Electric quoted me. It seemed like the latter wanted to fix things that weren't broken. When it was time to pay for Jeff's work, there were no additional charges; the bill was the exact amount he originally quoted me. It seemed reasonable. The job was completed in a timely manner, and I approved of his work.
