Came in as our current fan (we just bought the house) didn't come with a manual and I had no idea how to change the speeds. With full plans to probably just replace it, came in with a pic of the fan and the wall controller. Described the issue and was shown the controller and how to change the speeds. Also the unit we had was a bit dated, but he said those were pretty expensive units back in the day. Got a quote on a new fan, good price and good install quote as well. Came home and the directions to control speed worked. SO, the boss said to keep the fan we have for now, since it works. When it stops or any fan related needs: we are coming straight back! I like to use local businesses if possible and decided to go to Door Doctors for a ceiling fan rather than go to big box stores as I had for the other 8 fans I had purchased over the years. I purchased a Monte Carlo model #MAVR70XXD on 8/27/2023 with purchase price of over over 1k. I mentioned to Bryan at the time of purchase it was going in our bedroom and HAD to be quiet. He mentioned he had this model in his house and they were quiet. I installed it myself and I have to say the "floating" attachment of the wooden blades to the fan was somewhat quizzical to me as it was different than I had ever seen. I could not get it balanced - 1st time in 30 years and dozens of fans I could not get balanced. So I had them come out and they did get it balanced. This should have been an omen. Initially it was quiet and it works well moving air, with several fan speeds and is reversible - and it looks great. After about a year we noticed it making "popping" sounds in the middle of the night. It progressively got worse to the point I could not get back to sleep - it was like water torture. Several times over the next few months I took the fan down (marking blade positions as to not need re balanced) and took it apart and put it back together. No luck - it continued to make noise - so much so I started calling it the rice crispy fan - snap/crackle/pop. I finally contacted Fan Doctor a few months ago and explained the situation. Bryan again mentioned he had this fan in his house and was surprised I was having issues. He promised to contact his supplier and get back to me, although he did mention that the manufacturer didn't like covering warranty. REALLY? I asked to be copied on any emails and he agreed. I have never heard back. I ultimately moved the fan to my family room where we normally have the TV on so the noise it makes doesn't bother us so much - BUT it still pops, all the time. NONE of the other fans in my house make any noise at all. Some I have had for over 20 years and cost a fraction of what this one did. So I would certainly NOT recommend this fan and unfortunately cant recommend Fan Doctor as well. read more

As a couple other people have mentioned I am torn on this review. We called to have a few fans looked at as the remotes had stopped working. Travis showed up to look at the fans and was able to fix the receivers that were no longer working. We had a third fan that the pull chain had broken off so we asked if he could also take a look at that, which he fixed easily. When we received the invoice we noticed we were charged a service fee and then additionally for each fan that was serviced. This was never mentioned previously or when he was diagnosing the issues. The work was completed timely and Travis was nice but being hit with $240 in service fees for a 1 hour appointment was not what we were expecting. They should be more up front about pricing, we would not have asked him to replace the chain if we would have known the true cost. read more

I'm torn on how I should write my review on this one. The work that the two gentlemen did was great. They were timely, very clean, the job was done correctly and professionally, and they were patient with my two curious toddlers. On the other hand the price came out to double what I was originally quoted, which I wasn't pleased with. I did get a bunch of quotes over the phone prior to getting the job done, and this company was one of the best one for price, which is why I chose them. Part of that was my fault, for not getting the quote in writing (like in an email or something). They didn't offer a quote over the phone, but I still should have asked anyways. Next time I will ask for a quote through an email. I learned my lesson. If it wasn't for the misunderstanding of the price, this would have been an easy 5 star review. Called AHS because I had 2 ceiling fans in my kitchen that are both the same and 1 had only 1 speed working for yrs. So, since I pay for AHS, and they cover ceiling fans they gave me cash in lieu because they just replace not repair. Called Fan Doctor and it was a $20.00 part. $160.00 service fee. Now both fans stay the same and both are working. Pleasant young man. Showed him on Yelp where Travis his boss, urinated in a customer's yard while there working. Travis shame on you. read more

This is now the second fan that I bought from them and they give such great service and worked with me. This second one was for my rental home and I came in with a purpose. They have about 20 or so fans on display but books and books of options to choose from. I chatted with Bryan today and he was super friendly, smiling, and asking great questions for me to understand and ensure the fan would fit properly. I ended up making a decision in about 10 minutes which was perfect because he helped right away and it was easy. We had a contractor connect two fans to a dimmer switch. Unfortunately, the fans then made a very loud humming noise so much so that our kids could not sleep, so we couldn't even use the fans! We contacted Fan Doctor who was able to diagnose the issue immediately and get out pretty quick to fix it. Reasonably priced, prompt, and very friendly! I spoke with Travis the Owner. He quoted me $95 to take down an old fan and hang a new one The installer goes back snd forth to his truck continually In less than 1 hr he's done. I ask him how is the balance and he says no time ! I remind him that balancing a fan is part of the job and I would like him to do that before he races off to his next appt He balances the fan and hands me a bill for $208, $109 for the install that was quoted at $95 and $99 for taking down the old fan. I ask him why is he charging me for the removal and he says he didn't have a ratchet so it took him 20 minutes to remove 1 bolt!!! Thats why he kept going to his truck! 1 Why didnt he have basic tools? 2 why didnt he ask me if I had a ratchet set? i do 3 Why should i pay rxtra when he was ill prepared? I paid and called Travis. Requested several estimates to repair a ceiling fan with a remote. Some responses needed to view the fan before providing an estimate. Another response, griped that old fan are junk and should be replaced. Fan Doctor "Bryan" the owner is the only one that tried to troubleshoot the issue over the phone, but no luck. However, he was able to provide the service call charge and a quote for the part that he guessed was failing (failure of the fan remote's receiver). He scheduled "Mike" to service it and Bryan's guess was correct. I am glad that I got to keep the fan I liked and these guys were fast, professional, and above all reasonable & knowledgable. I cannot express my gratitude enough to Fan Doctors. Parker & (Greedy) Sons recommended replacing two misbehaving ceiling fans. Approximate cost for the fans and install would've been $700. Bryan had me fixed up (with the components tested even!) within 15 minutes and a cost of $100. They also do other electrical work! I will be going with them for future electrical business. Selling my condo, I needed to fix the light in the ceiling fan. Called the Doctor. Made an appointment for a house call. First visit: Every once in a while,I get a craving for Indian cuisine. Thursday evening. Very small group of diners. We were greeted and allowed to select our own table. Each had a Bollywood Mule. Humorous. Fairly standard menu, which is OK. I knew what I was looking for. Lamb Tikka, Chicken Palak, Vegetable Biryani, Onion Kulcha. Service was decent. Portions were large (3 to go boxes) and tasty. Now I have a go-to spot when I get that craving. Tech arrived on time and quickly diagnosed the issue. Unfortunately, the repair would require an ordered part. 10 days later, tech returned and repair completed. I'll be looking to replace some ceiling fans at the new house. I asked the technician about their shop, and he gave me some good manufacturer recommendations, and let me know that the install charge is reduced after the first unit. Fair price. Good service. Kevin the installer/electrician was so professional, and helpful. Clean, professional work, quality fans. 5 years later and still no problems. Had one switch go bad, after 6 months, I called Kevin was out the next day, replaced th switch no charge. I am a disabled Vet and Brian gave me a substantial discount, so they support our military. Dan & Travis came out to install a cheap fan I bought at Lamps Plus (pro tip-don't buy Casa Vieja fans) that my handyman was unable to install. They had to gerry-rig it to get it to work, but at least it functions. However they wired the speed wrong in the wall switch so that 1=fast and 3=slow. No big deal. Price was a reasonable $80 and I was happy until I walked them out afterwards and discovered Travis had peed against the side of my house. I find this disgusting. I have 3 toilets and would have let him use any of them. I hope management sees this and puts a stop to this disgusting habit. read more
