Having grown up in this little mountain town, nothing could be better than to see one of the very few restaurants in the area open up again - it's nostalgic! What they've done to the place is brilliant, with updates that keep the rustic feel while adding a modern, southwestern bar and lighting that all fit into the knotty pine theme. It's lovely to sit next to the windows (on either side), with the little creek tumbling by to the north. The rooftop is sooo nice and airy...the mountains are RIGHT THERE. My favorite food items so far? The guacamole and queso (unbelievable! and that's coming from a non-queso person; it's on another level) with warm, homemade tortilla chips, handmade margaritas, and the smashburger. Stopped in at Cantina Verde after attending an estate sale in Green Mountain Falls. A great find! Great atmosphere and service. The enchiladas are served New Mexico style with savory rice and your choice of beans (you cannot go wrong here). Top Shelf margarita is just that and was delicious...the perfect accompaniment for the enchiladas. The queso and salsa are great starters. A perfect off-the-beaten-path restaurant. The restaurant was beautiful. Loved the woodsy decore. They had margaritas to die for with all kinds of flavors. I went for the jalapeño that had the perfect spice. The poblano egg rolls were piping hot (beware) and the perfect amount for our party of three. We did have a bit of a wait because the waitress didn't know we were assigned to her. She made up for that will great service. The only drawback was just before our food arrived, there was a bad smell of burnt plastic coming into the dining room. It was bad enough that when my son's tacos came out, he could barely eat one and felt bad the rest of the evening. I did notify the waitress and I heard it being discussed by the bar. I'm sure it's a one time thing. My food was excellent and I got over the smell when the front entrance door closed. I don't know if the smell was coming from outside or the kitchen. read more

We found this place by accident and were very happy we did! Amazing tacos and salsa! It is a cool old building on a quiet street. It has a very relaxing vibe inside and an amazing view from the rooftop patio. The staff is very friendly. Chips and house made salsa are complimentary. They have various heat levels of salsa by request. The taco plates were large portions and easily shareable, making it a good value. read more

Omg, where should I start? Ok the drinks, on point! The salsa, guac, and queso, also on point! The tinga chicken and flank steak, as a bowl, tacos, or burrito, you can't go wrong! Service was fast! Visiting from TN and found this place on Google Maps. Didn't want the hassle of Manitou Springs (parking, table availability, etc.). Cantina Verde was fantastic! You know a restaurant is good when you're not only raving about the entrees, but also the queso and even the tortilla chips. They clearly use fresh ingredients, including the best jalapeño margarita I've ever had. Brooke and the staff were so accommodating to our young kids as well. Searched yelp for a lunch spot and Cantina Verde popped up. Perfect lunch spot. Dip trio, elk jalapeño tacos, chicken burrito, and chicken quesadillas. Everything was amazing. Staff was beyond accommodating. Refilled chips, drinks, etc without having to ask. Didn't try any cocktails, but the roof top looked like a great spot to hang out. And one of the servers knew the band "clutch" which made for a nice brief conversation. I recommend this place even if you're just passing through. read more

My husband and I have wanted to try this place since it opened. We live in WP and had friends from the Springs to join us. I made a reservation for the rooftop not sure if you have to but I was guaranteed a table. The staff is very friendly. Homemade tortilla chips and house salsa are brought to our table complementary. They make everything in house which we love. You cannot get any better than that . We ordered drinks and a salsa flight. You can choose from 3 out of 5. We chose Verde, a cream sauce. So good! Pineapple was also a favorite. The tomatillo did not have much flavor. You can also choose from the house that comes with your chips and it's really good then a spicy salsa. We all order the stacked enchiladas per the owner recommendation. We each ordered a different one. The rice and beans were fresh not sticky. It was all very good. I hope our waitress gets paid more than the other servers since she is running up and down the stairs all night. We all loved the food and service. Cannot wait to go back and try something different. Can't get enough of Cantina Verde. I've been back twice in 2 weeks. Their drinks are perfect for each season and their food is authentic and delicious. Appealing and clean mountain decor interior with a quiet and scenic rooftop dining area. Friendly host and wait staff. Queso, salsa and chips were great. Chips seasoned with a chili- lime powder is a nice touch. Burritos are excellent with nicely seasoned beans and rice. Best burritos in Ute Pass goes to Cantina Verde. I loved the shrimp burrito with green salsa and my wife loved the chicken burrito with queso. Menu is limited compared to most places but not a bad thing. They advertise that their margaritas are the best in the Ute Pass. Though my wife said she loved her Top Shelf margarita, she says that the Pontiac Margarita at Judge's in Woodland Park has the title of best margarita in Ute Pass. Very nice to have one more quality restaurant to go to without having to travel to the Springs. We'll be back here in the future. read more

Wish I had taken pictures, but went to try out this new place in GMF and it exceeded our expectations. The food, cocktails, and mocktails were great. It was a little loud, but in a happy/busy kind of way. We were invited to go upstairs & take a peek at the rooftop deck, which looks so cool - can't wait for better weather to try it out (it was raining). The shrimp tacos and stacked enchiladas were outstanding, as was the quac. Service was great, but not fast food - so come with people you enjoy chatting with, have a cocktail (or mocktail) and slow down and enjoy the evening. They recently opened where a beloved restaurant used to be. As we love Mexican food, we stopped in for lunch while on a drive up Ute Pass. They've improved the lighting and overall decor (expanding the bar and backing it with mirrors makes a HUGE difference) and the menu, although not huge, had good choices, hitting all the bases. Their soup of the day was a fabulous creamy chicken and jalapeño. The tortilla chips were still warm, and the salsa had a great consistency.
