The salsa was tasty and had just the right amount of flavor for my tastes, as I don't like real spicy foods. Went for lunch. Ordered the Chorizo and egg burrito with both the red and green sauce had a tahini rim margarita. Everything was hot and fresh. Definitely will go back for some lunch. Wasn't that expensive and would highly recommend. Service was great, no hovering. read more

I could easily improve my rating but this place is a classic example of a bar whose staff or owner simply doesn't care. Food was ok, nothing to write home about but not terrible. I have 2 big issues, #1 they close at 9pm so tell me why ALL of the staff are cleaning up and shutting down at 811pm?! If you want to close at 8 then close at 8?! I was a bartender for years, I know everyone wants to go home but it's incredibly rude and unwelcoming to see everyone rushing around clearly wishing you didn't walk in the door. If that wasn't enough, the bartender was so busy trying to close the bar that she couldn't be bothered to fill my MINIATURE WATER CUP (literally a cup sized for ants) more than once. She also screwed up my order. Just blatant disregard for customers while prioritizing an early night. You are PAID after you close to clean up...!! Management clearly has never seen this happen. My 2nd complaint is that whoever created this playlist should straight up never get the aux again. It's like a dentist office except the dentist is 45 years old, divorced and trying to date girls around his daughter's age. It's embarrassingly bad and ruins the ambiance of what could be an otherwise cool spot. This is a solid 3 star spot, keep your expectations low and you'll be ok. read more

We were walking around downtown Colorado Springs and entered a high end kitchen store. The owner suggested Dos Dos for good Mexican food. The restaurant was close by, clean, somewhat modern and had a nice vibe. We sat and reviewed the menu. We selected the trio of tacos with el pastor and two carne asada. The chips and queso arrived hot and ready to eat, obviously homemade chips. Our waiter suggested the fried plantains with dipping sauce. The chips and plantains were coated with tons of salt. I imagined being livestock arriving at a salt lick. We tried to wipe off the excessive salt. but still could not stomach any more. The Malden sea salt is more powerful and needs less for flavor. I'm not sure the kitchen staff understands that or perhaps they are pushing more drinks. The flakes engulfed the delicious plantains. Again, after trying to remove the excessive salt, we finally taped out. The tacos were overwhelmed by the sauces and one could not taste any meat texture or flavor. I tried to give the waiter my imput as FYI, but was advised the "chef" wants them rolled in salt. I grossly disagree, but I'm just one patron. He was rather dismissive and took pride in telling me "that is my interpretation." If you are highly deficient in your sodium intake, hit Dos Dos to dial it up. The vibe here is chill but the food flavor profiles are off. Obviously, it is just my opinion and the staff does not value any imput, their progagative. If my next blood test is sodium deficient, I'll return to Dos Dos. A real disappointment. read more

Colorado 4/5, California 3/5. I think the burritos could be elevated by incorporating some cheese and giving salsa for the burritos. The burritos feel a bit dry without salsa and lack a special je ne sais quois as a result. Some other protein options could also help spice things up, like breakfast sausage. My partner and I have conflicting opinions on the amount of tater tots in our burritos, as well. I'm an avid tater tot enjoyer and will never deny more tater tots, but he thought his was a bit overwhelming. I attribute that to the small (comparatively) amount of bacon in the burrito, so it was mostly just egg, tater tots, and tortilla to him. His burrito also had a little tortilla slit so :( it was falling apart when we got to eat it. Horchata is pretty solid! No complaints there, but forgot to take a photo. read more

Love the design of this place! It's not only super cute, but the food is mind blowing amazing. We started off with the plantains. It comes with a sweet and creamy dipping sauce. The caramelization on the plantains was absolute perfection. It was beyond my expectations in every way. If you wanted to add to your meal, get the plantains! This is so close to four stars, but the flavor of my burrito was, well... weird. Like a little sweet or something, and too fragrant with some herby ingredient that I couldn't quite place. Rosemary, maybe? Other than that, it was a good experience. Our waiter was solid, the ambiance was fun, and my wife really enjoyed her bowl thing that she got. The portions are good. We ordered chips with green, red, and queso salsas. Ended up creating a 'need a to-go box' situation. In town from San Diego, usually don't eat Mexican food outside SoCal, which is the absolute epicenter of authentic Mexican food being right on the border. Went here on a recommendation friend. Sit down at the bar. Order a Paloma, it's mostly soda and ice, can't even taste a hint of liquor. Order the "quesabirria" tacos with consomme. Apparently there is more than one version of birria here. Menu doesn't specify if it is beef or goat, it was definitely beef. The tacos are small, and they're fried in oil. Cotija cheese, cilantro, and onions on top of the tacos, like a tostada. So this is not the way birria tacos are prepared, this is just a regular shredded beef taco. The consommé is not beef broth, which the birria meat is supposed to be boiled in. The consommé is just liquified beef fat with cilantro and onions inside. The other "birria" tacos are the same thing, but soft shell lightly grilled with red salsa. This was very surprising. Not the way that traditional birria is prepared. The scene looks nice and inviting, but it is small. The outdoor bar seating facing the street is cool. Ok aside from those points, the tacos were alright. The beef wasn't juicy but it wasn't dry. The melted cheese was really not present. The cotija cheese doesn't belong on this dish. And the cilantro and onions belong inside, along with some lime and a true consommé to dip it in. The tacos should've been fried in the consommé, that is how it is prepared. Not terrible being far from home, so back to the hub in SoCal for the best. read more

I ended up getting a carne asada burrito here (sorry there is no picture!). I ordered it to go and it took about ten ish minutes. It was super busy so I'm not surprised! But the waitstaff were very nice. I think the reason I am giving this place 3 stars is because genuinely I don't think it's worth $16 for this burrito. For one, there was barely any meat in it. It was a lot of rice and beans. Secondly, I feel as though for the carne asada burrito specifically, there is a lack of flavors. I missed cilantro or lime or tomato or avocado. Something zesty. And I'm not about to pay extra for that when it is already a super expensive burrito. It just doesn't make sense to me. It's good--don't get me wrong. I just can't fathom putting two and two together... I would love to try their breakfast burritos because I hear they're really good, but I might take a lil break... so sorry!!!! Ordered the plate of three beef tacos along with two soft shell chicken tacos. Different from authentic Mexican but okay. My niece liked the chicken tacos better than the beef. I had a Margarita for Happy Hour, more ice than margarita. Overall the service was good. No pictures because the place was very dark. Definitely a hangout after work because we were there a little after 5:00 and it was nearly full. On the way out they had the fire pits lit, and that was much more to my liking. I believe dos dos is affiliated with dos Santos, and I honestly prefer it. Better menu, less crowded and slightly cheaper. I really liked the tofu options they have as well! It's more burrito focused, so you can have a bowl, burrito or breakfast burrito (until 11am). The tofu burrito was huge and delicious! My husband and I went to the soft open of Dos Dos, located in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. We walked in, ordered and sat down at the bar. The ambience is warm and inviting. We had or food in less than 10 minutes. We were shocked at how fast our food came after ordering! The staff was super kind and helpful. My husband got birria tacos and I got a chicken burrito. Dos dos tastes really yummy, and is super cute and has a great aesthetic. I don't like the backless chairs though because I have some back issues so I had to sit propped up against a window. They also have no booster seats for kids so I spent most of my time wrestling my child around. Service was ok, prices were high for the little amount you get. Been eating this breakfast burrito for a minute now and every time they nail it. It's the best one I've ever had, has aioli in it and at first I was thinking no way but it hits just right. The morning cook is on point as well. Bravo!!! 4 stars. Side note the lunch and dinner are just ok, the proteins are lacking (mushy and lack flavor) and why oh why don't you make fresh tortillas ?
