They were closed at 8:30pm tonight, Saturday, when advertised on the door and online to close at 10pm (Google shows 9pm). And the door was unlocked. Not sure if this is usual but this was our last chance to eat here before we head home to Denver and my boyfriend was so excited to treat me to dinner here. It's his favorite restaurant here. We literally planned this trip and our itinerary for months. If we had known they would close early we would have eaten here for lunch. What a shame. Oh well we are spending our money elsewhere now. So disappointed.

When I say this is the best Mexican food I've had outside of San Diego I am not kidding! We were greeted promptly and the staff was so friendly and helpful! I even saw the cashier help a guy out who was short a few cents for his food. Just top notch service!! It's small inside so probably not best for large groups to dine in but the food?! It's out of this world. The California burrito was wrapped perfectly, no sense that all the fillings were going to fall out if you set it down like with most burritos! 10/10 highly recommend!

Wanted quick Mexican food so we drove through Manitou Springs which was super crowded and crazy. We found free street parking a couple blocks away. The weather was unusually warm for autumn so everyone was out and about like it was a festival. This place you order at the counter and the guy brought us the food. It was yummy and not too expensive. Fun to people watch. read more

The loaded nachos are addictive- and you get enough to share! Yummy tacos... and if there's a long line at the drive through, the walk-up window is a charming old-school way to get your order quickly. Taking away one star because the lengua tacos were just meh. Was in town for a wedding and decided to do some touristy things. Stopped here on a whim and left beyond satisfied. I wasn't even hungry, but my sister was which is why we came. I digress, I only ordered 1 birria taco with consume initially. It was so good, I had to get another!! We all ordered the same thing and LOVED it. The son of the owner was extremely friendly/welcoming, and the tacos came out within minutes. Other menu options include tacos, tostadas, burritos, sopes, etc. with asada, adobada, carnitas, pollo, and beef as protein options. Overall, it was a fantastic and satisfying experience for all!! This place was so good. Me and my friends were STARVING and trying to find something that was 1. affordable and 2. tasty. We came upon El Taco Loco on Yelp and it did not disappoint! I got the carnita tacos combo and a side of fries. The flavor was amazing and I nearly cleaned my plate which I often can't do! Service was great- the employees were so nice. Holy Buckets. I try and eat tacos every where I travel, and the tacos here can stand up against the tacos anywhere. Sooo good. The Al Pastor tacos might be the very best Al Pastor tacos I've ever had. Yes, they are that good. Loved the Asada as well, but the Al Pastor were phenomenal. Literally some of the absolute best street tacos I have ever eaten and I grew up eating tacos weekly in Texas. I have tried every filling they offer and non have disappointed but the carnitas will change your life. Sauces are on point and they are also very nice and super affordable for Manitou Springs. My boyfriend and I stopped here after Garden of the gods, and we're glad we did! The pork bumped this review up to two stars, and the pricing was decent, but we still had to spend an extra $20 at a nearby gas station to get the taste of overcooked meat and sadness out of our mouths. I'm not sure how it got this far on Yelp, but I'm going to be the person to say that Zapata may have been the biggest culinary disappointment in my year so far. No wonder, considering the meat tastes like it's been forgotten in the fiery depths of a bonfire for weeks too long.

EVERY time I visit we go to Alfonso's once or twice. I have always ordered the Carne Asada burrito and it has stayed the same every visit. I always say I will try something new but I love that burrito. I hardly give 5 stars, this is for being so consistent with the food I enjoy.

I came for some comfort food and found it in beans and rice. I haven't been here in ages, but it's still very good. I also ordered a burger so I could take most of it home. The burger was delicious. I didn't intend on having any alcohol, but ended up ordering a house Margarita, rocks and salt. Here was my only disappointment. It was mostly ice, not much Margarita. Turned out that was okay, because it wasn't the tasty, award winning margs they used to have. It was yellow looking and didn't taste great. I drank it because it was fifteen dollars, which shocked me. I think I got a couple of dollars off for happy hour. It was drinkable, but not delicious. It didn't make me want to linger and it certainly didn't make me want to have another. I wonder what happened to their award winning margarita recipe. This was the first place I ever had a margarita and they used to be so delicious. I turned 70 this year. Had a lot of margs here when I lived closer. I'd still come back for their beans and rice, and because it's the Loop. But would either upgrade the marg or skip it altogether.

The insides is fairly large (estimated seating 80-100) with booths tables and chairs. There seems to be three different areas the bar and two dinning areas. The staff was efficient and cool and they seemed to have enough workers. The menu was your typical burritos tacos enchiladas etc. Prices was reasonable except some really expensive magaritas. food was tasty and portions was fair. All in all a cool experience and since I dont do magaritas anyways i won't count the very premium magaritas price against them.

We ordered their Rueben sandwich and the Chicken on the Ranch, both sandwiches were delicious. The sandwiches were a good size to keep us full for the majority of the day. We also got the Olde St Joes and Vanilla Hazelnut Coffee which were both delicious. They had the perfect amount of flavor, it wasn't too sweet but you could taste the difference in each coffee.

I had given up - hey I know I moved to a state that's not east coast and I just figured pizza was one of those things I'll have to miss. Not anymore - I found the genuine New York slices as this location today. We had great service and were served quickly, and the garlic knots were also legit. We will def be back and we were going to return and order an entire pie to go so I could stash it in our freezer - but we ended up having a family emergency and having to leave Manitou. The patio is wonderful in nice weather. The food is fantastic and fairly priced. The margaritas are easily the best in the city. If there are 2+ of you, order the margs by the pitcher. (The smaller pitcher=4 margs.) I recommend the Mexican Mixto, which lets you sample a range of offerings. It's also large enough that I get two full meals out of it, which makes it the best value on the menu. Service is always great here. The staff seems happy even when the place is packed, which is usually is on the weekends. Insider tip: Get there by 5 p.m. or expect a wait that can stretch to an hour.

My companions liked the enchiladas. We all had margaritas which were good although all our glasses were very sticky.

It can be a challenge to find interesting vegetarian food in Manitou and even harder to find decent Mexican food in the area. I was initially disappointed when I saw the meat-centric menu at El Taco Loco, but I asked the cashier what they might be able to make, and, like the other reviewer mentioned, he recommended the rice and bean enchiladas. They can prepare them with cheese like I had them, or they will easily make them vegan. They were AMAZING, and the price was more than fair. I hope they put them on the menu soon, so others who don't ask about options can enjoy them. The sauce was the kicker. I hope they consider putting other non-meat items on the menu soon, maybe rajas tacos? read more

DO NOT LEAVE TOWN UNTIL YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS AWESOME RESTAURANT! I had their Tostada's and went back twice for their enchiladas while I was touring Manitou Springs. This place is Amazing. I've never had better Mexican food. You will regret not stopping in here and having this amazing authentic Mexican food. This family is the real deal when it comes to excellent Mexican food. The service is the best you can get. I felt so welcomed and their son went out of his way to make sure we had an awesome time there. YOU CANNOT GO WRONG CHOOSING THIS PLACE TO EAT! The TV monitor with the menu was a bit off-putting, but we decided to give it a try. We ordered tacos, Sopas, enchiladas and a burrito. The food was quite inexpensive ($7 for three enchiladas with all the sides?!) and was very flavorful. Everything was made with lots of fresh tomatoes, radishes, cilantro, etc. The sauce on the burrito (Habanero?) was amazing. I didn't ask, but I'd bet it is a family run place. My only complaint is the burrito--although really good--was a bit small, and the rice and beans were just typical. We will definitely go back! read more

Service was super fast and friendly. We received hot fresh food in less than five minutes. My carnitas quesadilla had a crisp tortilla, creamy cheese and rich pork filling.
