I've only been here a few times over the years and each time I visit, I remember how sweet of a spot it is. Whether you're coming for drinks or food, you've got so many wonderful options. In addition to wine and beer, they also have cider and I believe, mead wine in a can (made from honey)! And for the non-alcohol crew, they've got you covered too. The aesthetic is just... cozy. There's a fireplace indoors and a fire pit outdoors. They have blankets and games, too. Like, cmon. Absolutely nailing the cozy vibe. The food menu is also great! As someone who eats gluten-free, there were plenty of options. I definitely recommend for the overall experience. read more

A few friends suggested that we head over to this wine pub after dinner around 8:30pm on a Tuesday. I was shocked to say the least to see that the hours are from 3-10 Monday-Thursday. On weekends they have longer hours (posted in photos). My husband opted to do a beer sampler which included four 4 oz draft pours and I ordered an affogato. The wine and beer list here is extensive and the prices are affordable. My favorite thing about our visit were the vibes. The ambience in this place is GREAT. It has hip furniture with some areas that seem to be setup for hanging out rather than eating. It shows because the place is stocked with board games for your pleasure. I think it's a great place to grab a few drinks and hang out with some people. We had a beer flight and really enjoyed all of our drinks. Sadly, I would not say that the tapas were very good. Aside from the mac n cheese and lasagna, everything was either really salty or had no flavor at all. The Dates wrapped in bacon especially was inedible. It was actually gross. I'm a pretty adventurous eater and this is the first thing I haven't been able to finish in years. Overall... if you want a drink and hang out with some friends and chill, this is a great place. I celebrated my birthday with my boyfriend last Wednesday at this cute and amazing place. The ambiance is incredible, very cozy and modern. The service was outstanding, food was great, and the drinks really good. We started with their Cantine Spritz and Rose Spritz, they were both really good, but Rose Spritz was my favorite. We ordered a wine flight, they came in beautiful mini bottles, which was very detailed and beautiful. The wines that we picked tasted awesome. For tapas, we had tortillas espanolas and Fromage. Fromage comes with goat cheese, Brie and Gorgonzola cheese, everything that I love. It also comes with pecan, bread and a delicious spicy jam. Please you have to try this jam, it's super delicious. Tortilla Espanola is a combination of different flavors and really really. I recommend everything that I ordered. And I want to come back as soon as possible. read more

We very much enjoyed our first visit here last night. We dropped in around 5:15 pm and caught the tail end of their Happy Hour (M-F 3-6 pm) and stayed for more tapas. Scored prime pet friendly seats by a lovely fire pit on their back patio. Here's what we tried... * HH Mezze - Selection of charcuterie, cheese and olives... so good! * HH Pintxos - 2 x 2 crostinis of serrano ham/manchego and blistered cherry tomatoes. * Focaccia with Olive Oil - Features bread from Kelly's Bakery * Deviled Eggs (3) - Decent rendition of this classic * Pinsa Flatbread - prosciutto, pear & cheese on a light thin bread. This was very yummy. Good selection of wines on tap or by the glass or bottle, beers, ciders, etc. I especially liked that they offer a build your own wine flight for the wines on tap (which I tried) or by the glass. Lovely laid back ambiance indoors and outdoors out back. Service was friendly, helpful and attentive. We loved this little wine shop during our mini vacay! Located in Aptos, in the back of a small shopping area, we came across Cantine Winepub. At first, we thought that it was closed because we didn't see anyone inside. It was a Tuesday evening, so it was to be expected. As we walked in, the person working there welcomed us and said we can sit anywhere and that there were a couple of spots outside on their patio if we prefer the outdoor area. THAT IS WHERE EVERYONE WAS HANGIN OUT! We ended up sitting outside as the sun was setting. We actually ended up ordering some ciders - both very delicious. I believe they were on the happy hour menu. My fiancé and I also split a glass of red wine, which was also tasty - they were nice enough to put it into two different wine glasses for us! Had a great experience here last night. We started with a glass of YvesLeccia from France, along with the olives and the whole roasted tomato bruschetta. The bruschetta was so delicious-a must try. We then went on to the arugula salad with Gorgonzola, candied pecans and apples with a champagne vinaigrette-could've just had that it was so good! For the main we split a Short rib dinner and a Pinsa flatbread with caramelized onions, prosciutto and blue cheese. everything was fantastic! not only was the food truly top notch, the service was fantastic-Heather and David were attentive and made great recommendations. Do not overlook this place as just a wine bar, the food is remarkably good! We will be back soon! read more

Nice chill vibe, yummy drinks, good apps, pretty patio, and friendly service. Went on a Thursday night and sat outside on the patio and watched the sunset. It was really nice. Got a lavender lemon Kyla kombucha that was really good - got a second one. Def would go back for drinks. And it's now my fave new alcoholic kombucha drink. The food was good, not amazing or anything, but yummy and I'd go back again. I got the deviled eggs, lamb chops, padron peppers, charcuterie board, and ham tortilla. It was all pretty good. Probz won't order the charcuterie board again as it just seemed very empty. Mostly just meat and some mustard. Also had to ask for the bread that was supposed to come with it. Padron peppers could've been cooked a little more. The tortilla was probz the best thing and I'd order that again. The seating arrangements were cool. There were a lot of comfy spots. A fire pit. Loved the view outside (though some bugs flying around at dusk, but quickly went away after the sunset). The seating on the patio gets a little tight, but there's also awesome heaters by them for you to keep warm. Inside has comfy couches. Service was mostly good. The lady that was our waitress most of the time was very nice and attentive. Her male counterpart was a bit two sheets to the wind (and you could tell she was having to make up his slack) but other than that totes great service. Cantine is my favorite wine lounge. It is set high and within a grove of young redwoods, bay, and oak trees. You can do some beginning birding at the outdoor dog friendly patio along with a wonderful drink from the bar. They have local wines and ciders on tap plus a whole range of lovely ciders in a can/bottle or wines/sparkling by the bottle. They even have some wine based cocktails for a change up like the "Sbagliato" I had yesterday. Prices are commensurate with location and quality. We haven't tried the tapas/apps but I see people ordering them frequently. Parking is a plus. The vibe is chill, meditative, yet playful. Our go to when we are in Aptos. My experience visiting this Winepub is a 10. Great service & very friendly owners. Had a great time, they offer board games and little cozy seating areas inside and out. I guess I wasn't a wine person but I did like the pear apple cider, wasn't bitter and little bit of sweetness. My sister and I had ordered Mac & Cheese w/ & w/o pork belly. Both were delicious, recommend ordering if you plan on eating light. Would love to visit again! read more

Restaurant Nightmare I went to Cantine wine bar yesterday to have a couple celebratory bday drinks and purchase some bottles to go. I've been a loyal customer until yesterday when the waitress forgot to run my card. Instead of notifying me, she called the local sushi restaurants around town notifying them that a "brown haired" girl who's having a "joint bday" with her partner didn't pay their bill. Sushi garden in capitola would not serve us bc of this description so I called Cantine to understand what occurred and let them know I'd come back to pay the bill right away. She told me if I didn't pay over the phone, she'd call the police. Given that she didn't run the card the first time, I didn't trust running it over the phone and wanted proof of physical receipt. Long story short, it took a multiple request in person to just pay my bill for proof of receipt after they admitted the mistake. It was an absolute humiliating and unnecessary experience, and a birthday I'll never forget. read more

I used to go to Canine on nice days to enjoy their patio. Then COVID19 took away all the good places and they are just now returning, usually limited and feeling pretty different. Happily Cantine feels just the same. Spent a lazy Saturday afternoon on their patio with a friend, splurging on too much cheese and just enough alcohol. Their menu is just as it always was, which is a good thing. We tried both burrata plates, the fromage plate, and added some foccacia for good measure. My friend sampled 4 beers, and I enjoyed a chilled glass of Vin Santo which is so hard to find and Cantine carries an excellent one. The server was delightful and very friendly. This is the place I always go to nosh and visit...ever since it opened! Have attended and hosted parties here too. Beverage and food choices are excellent and the staff has included some really interesting people that make you feel more like a guest in their home. Sharing their knowledge, experience or finding out more about a wine to help us decide is one of the main reasons I love this place. The relaxed atmosphere has led to some wonderful conversations both with friends and staff. Then why not 5 stars? Because there is always that one person, sigh.... After enjoying a tasty selection of food and bevies recently, we were winding it up to leave and a man, who was not our original server, came up to see if we wanted anything else and, when we didn't, he asked to remove our dishes. Not a big deal but it is. It was the first interaction we had with him and he was brusque and all business. We noticed. So unlike the chill vibe that we were experiencing until that moment. Ok, I am picky about service because it's my job. But, I always try to give people, especially post COVID, a huge break and be grateful they bother to stick with these jobs that can be full of challenges. I get it. So, next time, greet us first before rushing us out. Ask how our visit was? If we make a suggestion about your offerings, don't just nod and ignore us, even if we're whacky, acknowledge the suggestion EVEN if it's not going to happen. Customers are full of ideas and they aren't all great but being heard and seen goes a long way to encourage return business. We don't need a hug on the way out but make sure we have our credit card and a "see you soon!" Our original server did all this after "the closer" did not. Always loved Aptos Village but over the past 2-3 years & even during the "Plandemic" this area just had a full throttle, damn the torpedoes attitude towards the hospitality industry. The ambience is peaceful especially on a warm day on the back deck. Nice venue for catching up with a friend and relaxing because it's not overly noisy. Small bites menu has some good options but I wish there were "big bites" as well-- then I would hang out longer and order more than one drink. So, this time wasn't so good. We returned here with some expectations built from last time. We walk in -- no greetings, the two servers just minding their business. I ask for the wine list, only to be told that the list is lost. In my mind, Really? Is this really happening? The server digs out a few bottles of white wine from the fridge, but I am uninspired and non committed, so I told him I would go with by the glass selection. He is also uninspired by my choice as his face turns stoic. This is going great. The other server brings the list, and we decide to stay put and get a bottle and get a few bites -- the deviled eggs, brussel sprouts, and stuffed mushrooms. The dishes were generally all fine, except they did take long to come out. So we were sitting at the bar, but decided to move out side, so we tell the server that we were doing so, and he said, "ok". No help with moving the plates or glasses. In my mind again, is this really happening? Despite this lack of service, we decided to make it at home and enjoyed the crisp outdoor ambiance very much. The "don't fucking touch me, I mind my own business" guy even came out and topped our wine. The other server though, brought our check only to tell us that we ordered a bottle and we have some wine left. For the last time, in my mind, is this really happening? We do our thing and took time to finish the wine, and asked my friend to go up to settle the bill with the minimum tip, since I was afraid that I might say something complanatory and did not want the subpar experience ruin the evening. So my verdict -- the service really sucked at this place. For a while, the only place I'd be frequenting in Aptos is the BBQ joint. Average food, decent service, nice ambiance. I'm giving it 1 star because they added an "Included gratuity" that I did not approve. The total was $101.37 and I left $20 cash. I signed the merchant copy and totaled it - $101.37. I looked at my customer copy when I got home and was shocked to see $18.60 was added as an "Included gratutiy". Slimy that they didn't mention it and that the receipt I signed was different. There were 5 of us, so I didn't expect an added tip. I disputed the charge and my credit card company credited that amount, but I have better things to do than deal with a dishonest business. I won't be returning. read more
