Always have had a great experience! My kids enjoy their experience and the play room. It's also very helpful to have the whole family done.

I was told that my gums were quite low and that I needed to come in every 4 months. Later they told me there was no improvement and that I had to come in every 3 months even though I practiced perfect routine dental care. Then they told me I had a cavity forming and would need the first filling of my life. It felt really really off and whatever they were helping me with was obviously not working at a minimum, which was costing me quite a bit of money. I decided to see another dentist who had what felt like a much more modern office and took the time to explain why my teeth actually looked great. My new dentist scratched his head when I told him the tooth that I was supposed to get a filling for and he actually explained why it was unlikely to be a cavity... The adult side of the business is run by the husband while the pediatric side is by the wife. I was hoping it would be an easy location for my entire family! But.... He was not interested in helping me at all. I had an emergency event and was new to wylie. He wouldn't even see me even though I was told he'd be able to at least take a look and offer some solutions/plans. His male receptionist said he would be able to do an emergency review of my situation on the same day we had a scheduled visit for my toddler (toddlers handled by his wife on the right side of Office) So, I took off work and came in with my son (as opposed to husband bringing him). I stood around after son's appointment bc I had been told the adult Dr would squeeze me in for a look. He didn't even come out to meet me but evidently told the receptionist that he couldn't see me. They said it would be two weeks before he could even take a look at the situation (no treatment, just a consult! And this was an emergency type of issue!) The dentist I ended up going to squeezed me in that day for a consult bc it was an emergency. She then fashioned a temporary solution for me that would hold until I could get a longer appointment scheduled with her. Dr Cantrell has NO INTEREST in doing that. Since I wasn't a current patient, he couldn't have cared less about my situation. My son was already a patient when all this went down with me. But that didn't matter. Too bad for him bc my dental bill was huge (rightfully so)and I'm now a faithful and dedicated patient to the dentist that truly cared about ME! What sucks is that his wife was amazing with my son on the pediatric side but because of how crappy he treated me, I will not bring my toddler back in March for his check up. read more

If you are not Christian, you will not feel welcome here. Just keep that in mind if you align your beliefs in a different direction. Christian music is up quite high in the office. The office is modern, the staff is very friendly, the equipment is up to date. They use non-film X-ray machines allowing for faster response to your images. It did seem that they like taking more X-rays than necessary -- for me, one panorama, and 6 close ups. While they were working on my teeth -- maybe it was my imagination -- but the gloves and/or dental instruments smelled a bit. I'm happy with the cleaning they did though. They didn't jump right in trying to fix a tiny pre-cavity they found. read more

I absolutely love this practice. My whole family comes here. The environment is very kid friendly and the staff does an excellent job educating parents on best practices. I personally keep coming back because of Alex. His personality is awesome and I leave with a smile (get it) every time. read more

I'm starting off with a personal disclaimer. I am a medicated bipolar and I have daily anxiety attacks due to PTSD. In other words I'm no saint and to those who don't know me. I'm blunt. Cantrell Family dentistry is a good place. But today I was in a living nightmare. I know the front receptionist knows about my bluntness. He has dealt with it several times. With his very positive professional skills He does a amazing job dealing with me. (Yes, I am PAINFULLY aware of my problem) This dentist is a 5 star. We have always enjoyed going here But I'm giving my visit today a 1 Star! And will be looking for another dentist. So to my point. Today 4/10/19 I took my daughter into the dentist. She had a cracked tooth that needed care. Checked in. Got great service. They cleaned her teeth and everyone is wonderful. The dentist came in and took a look. He then asked me to look at the X-rays. He pointed to the tip of the root and a area that was slightly darker. He diagnosed it as a infection. Here is the point of our conversation that took a sharp turn south. I was completely satisfied with his recommendation to have a root Canal. I pointed to several other areas that had similar shades. I said "I see several other areas with the darker color" he then interrupted me and said to me " no you don't see other areas with that color" this is where my bipolar alarm went off. You don't cut me off and tell me what I did or did not see. If I had the chance to finish my question it would have been this. " I see several other areas with the darker color, is the infection spreading? " but no. He proceeded to get completely pissed off at me and telling what I saw and what I was trying to say. He physically put his face into my face and then berated me about how I'm always complaining about this office. I never met this man. Yet he had me pegged before I even opened my mouth. I guessing I'm the joke of the office. ( I hope I was able to bring much laughter to them) I was attacked and branded. So yes! I stood up and defended myself. He was the most offensive and unprofessional I have had in my life. I asked to meet with him and his superior. Another employee came out and basically attacked me again! Not one word of seeking to understand or see the other side off the coin. There would be no meeting and was accusing me of of attacking him and questioning his 8 years of schooling. WTH! I never questioned his diagnoses. I wanted to know if the infection had spread. She then declared out in the lobby in front of everyone that I neglected my daughter of proper dental care. This is now a WTF ! What the hell happen to patient Confidentiality! You violated my right to privacy! You attacked me and openly in front of the other patients in the lobby and accused me of child abuse! Conversation over! And left a clear message with the employee. Kerry McGrath read more

Modern practice, with modern equipment. Office staff is friendly and efficient. Peeked into the kid's side; it looks bright and cheerful. Xrays are done via a panoramic machine, rather than paper inserts. Office scheduling appears to be on-time, with little to no wait time past your appointment. Very convenient to Wylie, Sachse, and surrounding towns. Dentist refused to work on patient with lupus, wouldn't even do a cleaning, so can't speak to their actual ability to do dental work. Much, much, much Christian iconography about the place, with very loud Christian music. Jews, Muslims, Pagans and Infidels may want to find a different dentist. ;) read more

I generally keep negative comments about businesses to myself, but I feel like I need to share my experience. I was due for a cleaning as my previous dentist retired. I made an appointment at Cantrell on Country Club. I checked their website for services, and they advertise as a full-service dental office. When I called to make the appointment, the receptionist and hygienist were great. I was told I have no bone loss and and little gum recession. The dentist came in and looked around for maybe 7 minutes. He then proceeded to tell me I need to see a prosthodontist for a full mouth reconstruction! I was shocked, my gums don't bleed when I brush and I have no pain anywhere. They handed me a card for a referral to prosthodontist in Dallas. I went to get a second opinion. The second dentist compared X-rays from my retired dentist, Cantrell, and his new X-rays. I may need 1-2 fillings at the most. I'm hoping this helps anyone considering making an appointment here. read more

I broke a front tooth off at the gum line Sunday, July 14. I went to my regular dentist on Monday and his prices literally doubled from a couple of years ago--$8,000 for pulling the tooth and an implant. Being retired, I could not afford his prices. My son is happy with Dr. Cantrell, so I was able to get an apt. Tuesday afternoon. As my son told me, Dr. Cantrell was all business, which does not bother me. He would do an implant or a bridge. I decided on the bridge. I was referred to an oral surgeon to pull the tooth. The oral surgeon told me they do implants for $2200. So, I wanted to know what Dr. Cantrell's cost would be on his end to finish up the implant. I called and spoke to the front desk on Tuesday or Wednesday and they would get the info. I called back on Friday, July 19. The receptionist told me she knew they (someone) has the info and an assistant would call me. This is Wednesday, July 31 and no one has called. Yes, I started looking for another dentist on Tuesday, July 23 and found one I very happy with. I am getting an implant for $4000. I feel I was not treated with respect and consideration. read more

When I first visited this office I was very impressed but my opinion has changed. About three years ago I had to have my tooth removed and an implanted. During the year-long process, we switch insurance providers. At the time I didn't know the crown would not be covered under the new insurance. Alex informed me that Dr. John reduced the cost since I didn't have coverage. Which I was very appreciated, I was told that I could pay as little as $50 a month and not to worry. The first month I paid around $100 and next months followed $150. I always paid the second half of the month when we got paid. (note: this year alone my son was in the hospital 5 days, I had surgery, and had to quit my job due to back issues, along with 3 kids in college and a wedding coming up the end of the year). A month ago I was having tooth pain, I made an appointment, only to find I needed a root canal on my tooth with a crown. After the root canal, I got a phone call saying they had gotten a report back from the root canal and I needed to get my crown, but they saw I had a balance of and I would need to pay off the balance before they would schedule an appointment to do the crown. I was in shocked considered I was told to take my time paying the bill I knew nothing about until one day I went in a year and a half later and was told I owed them money because insurance didn't pay. I never got a bill or heard anything until that day. To top it off my daughter had gotten a nightguard we paid for upfront and when it arrived it didn't fit and the person helping her shoved it in her mouth trying to make it fit. My daughter told her that wasn't fitting so they had to remake the guard. We never received call saying the guard was in. It wasn't until today when I received an email asking if I was going to send in my payment this month. (Which I would have done today already since it was the time of the month I always paid on my bill, but I thought they were closed on Fridays). I got in my car and went to their office and paid the remaining $240 and asked where my daughter's mouthguard we had paid was? I was then told that they had called and told us it was ready to pick. We never received a call. I am saddened because I really do like Dr. Jon, but don't like feeling like I am a dead beat person that doesn't pay their bills. read more

The appointment process was fast and easy, arrived on time and was seen quickly. The office is nice and clean, works spaces are well lit, roomy and clean. I can't say that I enjoy going to see a dentist, however the friendly professional staff made my visit as nice as a dental visit could possible be! read more

Another great visit at Cantrell Family Dentistry today! Alex called earlier this week to remind me of my appointment and of course when I had to reschedule he happily found me several options for later in the week that would work. Everyone in the office was friendly, and I saw some familiar faces in the waiting area :). When I left, I asked Alex about how he ended up in his current position while letting him know how much all of the customers appreciate his service and positive attitude. He humbly accepted my compliment and it turns out he has known the dentists for quite some time! When you surround yourself with good people, good things happen and I for one will be returning for my 6 month visit once again. read more

The location was great and everyone was very friendly and helpful. The only thing I noticed is that they did not floss your teeth. I've been to quite a few dentists and go every 6 months and I've always had teeth cleaning that included a flossing. I was quite surprised this did not happen. The dentist also did all the cleaning portion, which was different from most of my appointments, however, he did a great job. read more

I had a severe toothache. After calling several helpful dentists who weren't able to see me until the following week, Dr. Cantrell's office was able to see me the next day. Alex was running the front desk and he was amazing. He wasn't in a hurry to get paperwork or impatient about settling up on a bill. He wanted to make sure I was comfortable and taken care of. Once I saw the hygienist and dentist, he determined I needed to be seen by an endodontist. Alex took it upon himself to line up the appointment and did his best for me to be seen that day. I've never had such customer service. I think I'll take my kids there next time. read more

I will not post negative reviews unless I feel like there is something fishy or unethical going on with a business. Unfortunately, there is something very suspect about the adult side of this practice. We have insurance coverage which provides 100 % for fillings/cleanings and others preventative costs. My wife and I went to the dentist 6 months prior to moving to Wylie and trying this practice. Neither of us have had cavities for 5+ years but when we got examined here my wife was told she had 12+ cavities and I had 2. My wife's first visit was to fill 3 cavities and the dentist did a really poor job. Took a huge chunk out of my wife's lip with the drill. A couple weeks afterwards we received bills for the service. We have never paid for fillings with in network dentists (which they are), turns out the office was charging much more than the contacted payments so we had to pay the difference. This was suspicious to me. My wife decided to go elsewhere to get the fillings because of the significant cut on the first visit. Remember she was told she had 12+ fillings. Well, turns out the next dentist couldn't find a single cavity AND he ended up fixing the shoddy filling this guy put in. It is clear something is off at this practice. read more
