Contrary to some posts on here, I have absolutely loved living at Canvas. I am in the 3 bedroom 3 1/2 bath upgrade unit, it is my second year here with Canvas and I have had VERY few problems. The few issues that we have ever had dealing with the apartment itself maintenance has come in to fix. I had an issue last year where they were overcharging me because of a deal that I signed on for that didn't get out on my account, and when I found the mistake and called, they were SUPER nice, and refunded me the money into my account right away. Even this year, there was a mistake with my parking and they were more than accommodating and helping me get the issue solved. The office staff is amazing, and always ready to help. I personally think that what I am paying right now is an amazing price @ 670 every month. I have all upgraded appliances and two living rooms! Not to mention the biggest bedroom that I have had since moving to college. I was previously at the lodge, where it was 3x as small and I ended up paying 700 a month for it! The bus stop to campus is right on the property, and makes it very easy for me to get on the bus and not have to worry about parking my car on campus. We have a huge deck which was really important to me because I love flowers and plants and need ample room for my cats and I to enjoy the outdoors during the summer! (Canvas is also pet friendly!) Not to mention, every week they do different giveaways through their Instagram story, and you always have a chance to win if you participate. My two roommates and myself have absolutely loved living here, and we are sad that we cannot enjoy this life for another year! Give Canvas a try as your new college home! You won't regret it!! ALSO: I have no ties with the office personally, just a very happy resident that has gotten to know them from stopping in to use all of the amazing amenities they offer, such as studying cubbies and a pool table (pre-Covid). read more

These people are criminals. the administration of this place should all be rounded up and thrown in jail. they steal from people and they harass people. The place looks run down when u move in and then they try and charge you to repaint when you leave. There is no such thing as normal wear and tear with them. Do not rent from these people. $100 for mattress cleaning - I didn't even use their mattress (I brought my own). I didn't even use it once. they don't repair anything. My parents come and park in my driveway that I pay for and they install the window blocker. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! read more

I have loved living at Canvas this past year! I already renewed my lease for next year and I cant wait to continue living with my bestie. My favorite thing about Canvas is how HUGE and spacious every room is! It can hold so many guests and I have so much room for our cats to run around and play. I have 2 huge windows in my room which is great for natural light (my cat also loves them!). The management is awesome and every time I talk with any of the leasing office workers I feel seen and heard. I have covered parking for my car which is great for the Michigan cold snow and icy weather. read more

I am moving into Canvas Townhomes this summer, and so far my experience has been great! All of the staff at the front desk have been nothing but informational and helpful throughout my signing journey. I am very excited to move into Canvas and know that I will continue to be appreciated and taken care of. The units are all very clean and taken care of from what I have seen from friends places, and can't wait to be able to live here myself. Such a great apartment for college kids! They are one of the only complexes that offer 1 bedroom apartments, and for such a great price! The covered parking saved me during the winter months. My favorite part, and my dogs, is the dog walking trail. The maintenance team has always been super helpful and kind. When we mentioned a problem to management, it was handled right away and they made us feel so special. The management team even came and apologized in person to make sure our needs were met. This is my 2nd year here now and its been great. My roommates and I have really enjoyed how much space we have for our stuff and having a good sized kitchen is nice since we cook a lot. Maintenance has always been helpful and gotten back to us within a couple days for anything. We mostly keep to our bedrooms but having my own bathroom and a nice sized closet for clothes and accessories was a big bonus. The upgraded units might seem more pricey but it is worth if it you have the extra budget. read more

I have lived at Canvas since August of 2021 and I have had no issues! The office staff is great - they are very helpful and have always been very nice to me! Whenever I need anything fixed the maintenance team comes in a timely manner and does a great job at fixing any of my issues! I would definitely recommend living here! Also, they do a lot of giveaways on Instagram, and Canvas likes to have events for residents to meet each other which is always so FUN! read more

I live in 4 bedroom / 4.5 bathroom it is very spacious and allows for many space. Anytime I have a problem maintenance can be pretty fast unless they're backed up, which recently hasn't been an issue. Management is good as well, anytime you call the office they'll pick up and whoever answers the phone is always polite and knows the right answer. My favorite is the flat rate utility, that comes in handy a lot! Overall I like canvas and recommend for sure. read more

I just recently signed my 3rd lease with canvas townhomes. Before canvas I lived in Locale. Nothing compared to the home like atmosphere of canvas. I have lived in both upgraded and regular units here and both are incredibly comfortable and spacious. Great space to host gatherings and be with friends. I currently live and Canvas and love it here! I have lived at other apartments in Allendale and my apartment at Canvas is by far the largest and most homey feeling. My favorite parts are the size of the bedrooms and kitchen since I spent most of my time hanging in my room or cooking food! I've lived at Canvas since August 2021, and am very glad I chose this apartment complex! The location is convenient for the Allendale GVSU campus and only about a 20 minute drive from downtown Grand Rapids. The units are spacious (I live in the 2x2 option) and I appreciate the attached bathrooms to both bedrooms! Overall, I recommend Canvas to any GVSU student or Allendale resident. read more

i love living here! its so close to all of my friends & not that far from campus. comes with free tanning & other stuff in the leasing office. theyre very quick to respond to an issue!!! these are apartments for pretty much college students so dont expect everything to be perfect, but again the respond quickly to help! already renewed for another year & im very happy about it! read more

I heard about Canvas before my apartment search began from a friend who works here, Andrew. As a result, my roommates and I toured and loved it! Our tour guide was super engaging and answered all our questions. Canvas outweighs their competitors because of how spacious it is and the friendly staff. I have lived at Canvas for nearly 3 years and I absolutely love it here. It has become my home for sure! I love how huge the units are. I moved here from the country, so I was really nervous my loud music would be a problem in a community like this, but the townhome style really allows a lot of privacy and noise control. Be prepared to have your mommy and daddy make phone calls to management... They ignore any students with problems and work orders you place when you move in won't get fixed till November.... If you're gonna live in a dump go somewhere else. The upgraded apartments are the only thing worth considering moving into but if they're already filled DONT WASTE YOUR TIME read more

Canvas is a great place to live, especially if you are going to school here in Allendale or Grand Rapids. It's located less than 5 minutes away from Grand Valleys State University's main campus. The amount of amenities that canvas offers are not just limited to the 24/7 hour gym and the awesome maintenance team! There is so much to do and discover here! read more

Most spacious apartments in Allendale with lots of amenities. Had brand new carpet, flooring, and mattresses when we moved in. Haven't had many complaints only with Absolute Security but is not related to Canvas. Fair price you pay for the amount of stuff it comes with. Overall highly recommend over the other apartment complexes I've been to. read more

I really enjoyed the tour and was very helpful going through all of the information. I think the pricing was super fair and there was no added nonsense fees. The rooms are super spacious and the private bathrooms are really helpful. The garage space is super unique to a college apartment and a game changer for the price of roofed parking. read more
