Old Faithful Inn Dining Room - Huckleberry ice cream - the big serving makes this the rare value on the menu. Very shareable.

As for the food, given that most reviews were bad, I gambled and had a Cesar salad and the salmon with Cajun sauce since I was staying at the hotel and wanted to relive my childhood visit. The salad took too long to show up, especially since I was the first group for dinner. It was 3 times the size of Yellowstone Mammoth Restaurant, but not as good--did not finish, Cesar dressing is the problem . The Cajun sauce on the salmon was tasteless and the salmon boring, BUT the rice it sat on was Cajun and spicy enough to make the main dish acceptable. The rice won the meal by adding it to each bite of the salmon! All were served warm, including the green beans. Desert was the LavaDivine Fudge Cake. It was dry and needed the whip cream on top and on the side to make it worthy of being called a dessert. I ate it all. Was it worth the $57 before tip? Yes and no. Yes, because I'm on vacation at a famous hotel conveniently located downstairs. No, if I was back in Houston at a restaurant trying to claim class. I'll be back again if I stay at the Old Faithful Inn in the future.

Oh man oh man oh man. First, we had a reservation for a sit down dinner at 8:30. After seeing our…read morecabin room, we quickly realized that this place was overly touristy, overpriced and not a place we want or need to return to. Old Faithful, cool. Saw it a couple times. Room, we had to change from one cabin to another (the inn and lodge were full so we were stuck). Massive amounts of mosquitos and I wasn't sleeping in that sort of nonsense. New room, ok. I don't believe we have A/C, lol. We have a cool table top fan. Yikes. Dinner: I cancelled our reservation from reading these reviews and opted for take out from it. House salad add chicken, meh. I asked for dressings on the side, ranch all on top. Kids chicken fingers, not so fresh/soggy when I opened them. Honey mustard was good. I wanted the potato soup but they had broccoli cheddar, it was fine, under seasoned. It took 25 minutes to get what I ordered and then I felt horrible because the poor hostess was being yelled at by the people waiting because like everyone else here said, it's messed up! No, I won't be back. Sorry I'm not sorry.

Coming from an old…read moreSouthern boy, I'm usually pretty picky about this dish, but I have to say it wasn't too bad at all. The biscuits were hearty, the gravy had good flavor, and the portion size was satisfying. No, it's not quite like sitting down in a country diner back home, but for Montana, it definitely hit the spot. The staff was friendly, service was prompt, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. If you're looking for a solid breakfast before heading into Yellowstone, the biscuits and gravy are worth a try.

Also - if you drink coffee - the espresso machine was broken. My husband wanted a biscuit breakfast sandwich with sausage - they were out of biscuits. So I got him a bagel breakfast sandwich with sausage instead. I ordered sausage links for my baby, I asked if they had any kind of fruit I could buy for my baby. They said no that they only had bananas for smoothies - which is odd being a place that sells fruit smoothies... For myself I ordered a croissant sausage breakfast sandwich and a mango madness smoothie). My mother in law wanted a lotus energy drink - but they were out of lotus syrup. A few minutes later the gal that rang us up came to our table and let us know they were out of sausage for breakfast sandwiches. Asked what we wanted instead. They still has sausage links, so that's what we had on our sandwiches. When our food was ready they brought everything over except the sausage for my baby - which they clearly forgot to make cause that was a long wait till it arrived (5 or more minutes). Putting food in front of a hungry baby and none of it is for him is not a good idea lol. My husband ended up giving him his sausage and wait to eat his sandwich till they brought more over. I also gave my baby some of my smoothie - the smoothie was good. So, out of several items, and forgot part of our order.... Just seemed a bit chaotic. Food and smoothie was good and the people who work there are nice.
