Saturday morning, 7:30 am this was the only place open, therefore our only choice. Small town so it is limited. Counter service which I don't mind at all then grab a seat. Small place but cute. Immediately we were told they are out of eggs so could not do breakfast sandwiches but could make like a turkey and cheese one. I asked for a salami and cheese sandwich and she acted super confused and said they didn't have salami, they only had salami packs (protein with cheese prepackaged in container fridge section). I said oh I'm sorry your menu has a sandwich with salami on it? (See attached pic) And she literally just stared at me. Like - are you out of it or??? Soooo moving on then I'll just get a hot chocolate since I don't really eat pastries, which were available. Hubs got an apple turnover and liked it. My hot chocolate wasn't chocolatey enough for my taste. It got pretty busy after us and i heard the lady at the counter mention "sausage bomb" to someone, which was sausage gravy in the middle of a biscuit. That sounded good so hubs ordered me one. It was good. Recommend that for sure if you like biscuits and gravy. You can take to go or eat in.

Delicious coffee and pastries! And the staff is very patient and kind. This is a really cool place!

The best coffee shop we have been to so far! It beats any coffeeshop in jackson hole and palm beach Florida. Excellent customer service! Cute decor , friendly staff, and the dirty chai is PHENOMENAL! It comes with two shots and it's so declines! Their menu is exactly what you want and it's delicious. We had their croissants, and breakfast sandwiches on a croissant. Mouth watering. I Will make the drive through Lamar Valley just so that I can stop by this hidden gem for breakfast.

Breakfast egg sandwich on croissant was delicious and the dirty chai warmed me up on a rainy day. Reasonable prices and exceptionally good food and drink. Would recommend!

Great coffee, cinnamon buns and bacon cheese pastries in small town. We also enjoyed looking at book store.

Book Peddler ended up being one of our favorite discoveries in West Yellowstone. In a town where…read morebreakfast options can be somewhat limited, service can move at a different pace than larger cities, and many establishments don't open particularly early, Book Peddler fills a nice niche by serving good coffee, made-to-order breakfast items, and offering a genuinely enjoyable bookstore to browse before heading into Yellowstone. I'd still suggest checking their website for seasonal hours, but we found them open early enough to comfortably fuel up before entering the park. The coffee program is surprisingly strong for a small tourist town bookstore café. They offer several locally roasted coffees, including lighter roasts, darker roasts, and decaf options, along with espresso drinks and specialty coffee beverages. We found the coffee to be among the better options available in town. The breakfast menu was another pleasant surprise. Rather than relying solely on pastries or grab-and-go items, many of the offerings are prepared to order. You'll find breakfast burritos, sandwiches, vegetarian selections, and meat options, giving most travelers enough variety to satisfy differing tastes. It's one of the few places in West Yellowstone where you won't be steered towards elk or bison! During our visit they offered both vegetable and ham quiches, along with chili. Everything we tried was fresh, satisfying, and felt like a step above what we expected to find in a small gateway community. Service is solid, though perhaps not spectacular by large-city standards. Orders can take a little while during busier periods, but honestly it felt very much on pace with West Yellowstone as a whole. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and seemed genuinely interested in making sure guests had a good experience. Given the town's relative isolation and dependence on deliveries, it's also not uncommon for certain items to occasionally be unavailable, whether that's a specific milk option, produce item, or pastry. We found the staff to be upfront about availability, and it never materially detracted from the experience. The bookstore itself is worth spending some time in, even if you originally stopped by only for coffee. The selection leans heavily into Yellowstone, national parks, western fiction, travel, and regional history. It's a much better place to find a unique souvenir or gift to bring home than another shop selling the same T-shirts, magnets, and trinkets found throughout town. Final Thoughts: Book Peddler quietly does several things well at once. It's a good coffee shop, a surprisingly strong breakfast stop, and an independent bookstore that rewards browsing. If you're spending a few days in West Yellowstone, I would recommend making at least one morning visit before heading into the park. We enjoyed it enough that it became part of our Yellowstone routine. -AC

Elk River Books apparently fancy themselves as not only being a bookstore, but also amateur internet sleuths. Unfortunately, they're not very good at it. This book was being sold as "one per order". Somewhere along the way, Elk River Books decided to change that to "one per family name". They cancelled my order and sent me an email stating that it appeared I was attempting to get around their "one per household" (they can't seem to make up their mind how many to sell) rule by ordering under my husband's name and having the book delivered to a neighboring home, whom Elk River also stated "per an internet search, the Kulinski's live there". As I stated, Elk River Books should stick to selling books because their detective skills SUCK. Even after I responded to their email informing them that our ADULT son, who shares my husband's name. RENTS the house next door from the Canadian family that owns it, they have not bothered to apologize to me or reinstate my order. Both myself and my son are HUGE fans of Kamala Harris. Now, thanks to the overinflated egos of Elk River Books, one of us will not be getting a signed book. I cannot recommend enough that you find another bookstore to patronize. This was complete overreach and absolute petty BS on the part of Elk River Books.

Unfortunately ThebHouse of Books & Tea would fall into the latter category. I've actually visited this bookstore three time. The first time I made a purchase, the second two times was to browse I'm hopes of purchasing and the third time was to offer my assistance volunteeringly. On my third visit I was met with hatred and prejudice and worst - judgement. It's so unfortunate given the nature of their business... selling books. I expected to find a group of creative, free thinking, intellectuals. What I discovered was a person full of hate.and emptiness. I wouldn't waste my time unless of course you are the type of individual to support this type of "thinking."

We came for the children's books, and I was pleased to see many selections I'd yet to see elsewhere. The prices are definitely higher than an online purchase, but you vote with your dollar, and this is one business I'm glad to support where I can! The general manager told me it's actually a book co-op, owned by share holders. It was very interesting to learn about! We will be frequenting this location when we are in the market for new books or just a relaxing cup of tea!
