Connie with our 3rd son. Only a few weeks old.
    Katherine W.

I highly recommend Connie and the staff at Canyon Midwifery. I've had 3 home births with her and am currently about to have my 4th home birth in 2024. I first met Connie 10 years ago in 2013 when I was pregnant with my 1st son. She worked at another midwifery at the time that had multiple midwives with hospital privileges. Depending on when you went into labor, you didn't know who would attend your birth. Connie had done quite a few of my appointments, and as a nervous 1st-time mom, she instantly put me at ease. She was always attentive to me and genuine. She is a very calm and relaxed person; being around her is a delight. I must mention that I went through two incompetent doctors and transferred my care to the midwives 2 weeks before my due date with my 1st because of a lack of care to answer my questions and no intent to follow my birth plan. So meeting Connie filled me with such hope that I could indeed have a natural birth in a hospital setting. She didn't end up attending my 1st birth, as another midwife was on call, but her care during my appointments is what brought me back to have my 2nd and 3rd son with them, all attended by another midwife on staff. When we got pregnant with my 4th son, the midwifery wasn't around anymore, and I tracked Connie down to see if she was still practicing midwifery care. I was so relieved to find she had started Canyon Midwifery and would be able to help us with our first home birth. We had a successful home birth with Connie, and went on to have two more with her. All of my home births are very fond memories for our family. Especially because Connie helped me fully prepare before the birth and assisted me through it as well. I can't imagine birthing with anyone else; she has taken the time to get to know me, my family, and knows how to help me in labor. Every labor is unique, and she is good at sensing what you need before you do. I've never had a problem with the care I've received, and am so thankful for the experience I've been able to have. She and her team did an excellent job helping me prepare for each birth, making sure I had everything I needed during the home visit, and when I was in labor, they came right away. During birth, I always felt heard and supported. If I didn't want to try a position, they didn't make me. They followed my birth plan and also helped make my husband feel useful and a part of the birthing process. He even had the opportunity to catch a few of our babies. They always did a great job cleaning up and getting me comfortable afterward. Their care and love were felt during every one of my births with them.‍ One of my fondest memories is when we had our 5th son who was born around 5 am. Just as Connie, Erin, and Becca were getting everything cleaned up, my four sons woke up and came into the room and were mesmerized by the sight of their new brother. Connie was so kind to help the boys stay calm and allow them to enjoy that moment. I also remember when I had my 2nd that she let my oldest, who was about a year at the time, help with the appointment by sitting next to me while holding the ultrasound probe with her so he could be a part of it. Having known Connie as long as I have, and with 3 soon to be 4 home births under my belt, I know for a fact that Connie and her team truly love what they do. They are professional, and their office is clean, tidy, and gorgeous. Everything they do is well thought out to make mothers and families comfortable and at ease. They serve women out of a desire to serve the Lord. When I go to my appointments, I look forward to seeing women that I consider my friends. The atmosphere there is always positive and supportive. I've not experienced this in any other health care practice, which is why I keep coming back to her. Connie is a gem and a wonderful midwife! Erin is so joyful and will leave you smiling with her humor, the office staff is helpful and beyond kind. I highly recommend her to everyone, and two of my friends have birthed with Canyon Midwifery as well, and had wonderful experiences. There's so much more I would like to say, but I could probably go on forever with all the amazing things Connie, Erin, and Becca have done to make my home births everything I wanted them to be. If you choose Canyon Midwifery for your care, you will be pleasantly surprised to find that you can have excellent prenatal care, and a beautiful birth! Everything is done with heart, and that is what sets them apart!

Canyon midwifery is the best! Connie and Erin are amazing at what they do! Connie recently delivered my third baby. It was my first time having my baby at a birth center and the experience was amazing, I would do it all over again! After my daughter (2ndborn) and the not so great experience I had with my previous OB I was excited to be with Connie. We opted to have our baby at the birth center because honestly I was excited to use the birth pool. I started laboring at home and when I felt it was time to go to the birth center Connie promptly made a plan and we met at the birth center. I labored a little more and got to go into the pool. Had a couple more contractions and had baby boy in the pool! Never in a million years would I imagine I would have a baby in water and it was the best experience. Overall the care I received from Connie, Erin and nurses was amazing. Throughout my pregnancy Connie and Erin made sure my platelets were where they needed to be and that was one of my main concerns. They have me peace of mind about everything, Connie even prayed with me over my platelets.I also am so happy with the in home 3 day postpartum visit from one of the nurses that was at the birth. Janina was amazing during my birth and after. She did our 3 day postpartum visit and answered all our questions about our newborn and myself. I can't recommend Canyon Midwifery enough!

BEST quality care for pregnancy, birth & postpartum. My baby was 2 weeks early so I missed the birthing & lactation class. on the day I had all the resources I needed at home grateful for Connie, Erin & Becky ! Not only did I have the home birth I prayed for but I was able to breastfeed my baby. So much love for this team

I chose to meet with Connie when I was about 24 weeks pregnant. I had medicated hospital birth with my first two pregnancies and really wanted to have a home birth for my third. My husband was skeptical of a home birth, but felt more comfortable with the decision after meeting with Connie. Connie and Erin were amazing! I felt heard and never rushed at any appointment. It was so different than my experience with an Obgyn (who never actually delivered my babies). The obvious faith they had in my ability to have the home birth I wanted gave me so much peace and confidence. My delivery went so smoothly from start to finish. Erin was quick to get to my home when I called her and handled everything amazingly! Janina assisted Erin with my delivery and who we had our postpartum follow up with. She was equally amazing! She took her time at our appointment, even after a long night and day of assisting two deliveries right before our appointment. I couldn't have asked for better care from Connie, Erin and the rest of their team. I'm so sad that my pregnancy Journey had to come to an end with them! They are amazing! I'm

22 month overdue review: First, I would just like to say that Connie and Erin provide the utmost exceptional care and treatment during pregancy, birth, and postpartum. My pregnancy was unplanned, and the person that got me pregnant did not want any involvment in my pregnancy or baby's life. Connie and Erin did not judge me. Instead, they welcomed me with open arms, and showed compassion. They genuinely cared about mental, emotional, and physical health. They always reassured me that I was doing great, and I would be a great mom. They were my biggest cheerleaders. I am a picky eater and I have a sweet tooth; as a result, I ended up developing gestational diabetes during my pregnancy. Connie and Erin provided me me with the tools to monitor my blood sugar levels. Erin gave me suggestions on what slight adjustments I could make to my diet and to make food more appealing or palatable. Connie and Erin cared about my baby and I's health. Because of their high quality of care, my gestational diabetes did not turn into actual diabetes, and my baby did not get diabetes. Connie was gracious enough to allow me to deliver my baby in her home because I felt uncomfortable doing it in my parents' home where I had been living. Connie even allowed my mom and younger sister be in the room the entire time. During my contractions, Connie and Erin suggested I take a shower. Boy did that help aleviate the pain!! After I finished taking a shower, Erin surprised me with a warm towel to dry off with. Erin rubbed lavender oil on my belly. Connie and Erin made sure I was as comfortable as I could possibly be, and made sure that I drank plenty of water to stay hydrated. The entire process was perfect; from start to finish. I could not have asked for a better team to have been on the 11 month journey with me. Unfortunately, I did not think think to get pictures of Connie and Erin with my baby. I wish I had. This is the only picture I have of someone from Canyon Midwifery after my birth. She was showing showing me how to feed the bottle to my baby. Motherhood does not come with a handbook, so I appreciate her taking the time to show me how to feed my baby. It is the small things that count.

Welcoming our precious baby girl into the world

Where to begin! These ladies become family! I had one midwife before Connie and Erin who wasn't "bad", but it definitely wasn't the care I wanted or needed. I didn't feel cared for or wanted until I met Connie and her team! They welcome you into their hearts and lives! I literally drive over an hours to receive care from them. It's that worth it! I love their beautiful balance between natural and medical care! You will not feel uncared for. They prioritize you and your needs over their own. And every step of the way they are praying for you, your baby, and your precious family! I searched and searched for a new midwife after first. And finally a cousin recommended her midwife. And no one else I could find came even close to what I found at Canyon Midwifery! And I recommend them to every pregnant friend I have! They really bring you in as a friend and even family. So many times I have found us chatting the time away like old dear friends. And yet they always manage to get to the next mama in time without making you feel rushed. They have blessed me and my family in so many ways! They have been people I go to for counseling or prayer on different matters. And even when I have had different trials in life they care and take the time to lift it up in prayer. This is my second baby I'm having with them as my care team, and I'm very excited and totally at peace about bringing this little one into the world! I have never met such a wonderful pair of ladies! They are so sweet and bubbly! They give their all! And they do it all out of a heart of love for you and for their God!

Second baby with Canyon Midwifery. Connie and Erin were AMAZING AS ALWAYS. I experienced severe depression my first trimester and Erin and Connie both helped me through this with referrals. Connie is a very humble sweet laid back lady. Erin is very kind and caring also laid back. Both have great personalities for delivery, tentative and soft spoken. My first childbirth in 2021 was a home birth with Connie and Erin. This one I had to go to the hospital but I know Connie and Erin did what they could to try to get me through delivery at home. After 5 hrs I became extremely tired and baby wasn't coming. My husband drove us to the hospital, I delivered at Banner. My baby was big, her shoulder was stuck and wasn't getting past my cervix. Advice I would give any momma is pack a bag just in case things don't go as planned at home. This is baby number 4 and every birthing process played out differently for me. If I become pregnant again I would go back to Connie and Erin. Both are wonderful ppl and knowledgeable. If those ladies ever had a bad day I never saw it, they are both caring, happy and humble.

Where do I even begin? I have so many wonderful things I love about Erin and Connie and my experience with them it's going to be hard to fit it all in, but I'm still going to try! I had a hospital birth with an OB with my first child and I just knew there had to be a more personal care out there...the whole wait in the waiting room for an hour just to be seen for five minutes was ridiculous...especially for someone who's bringing my child into the world. In between my first and my second child was less than two years in which I had 8 miscarriages. By time I found out I was pregnant, I was in the second trimester already and it took me a while to decide what route I wanted to go for care. There's no other way to put it - God lead me straight to Canyon Midwifery. Connie and Erin took such good care of me the entire time. Anytime I had a question or concern I didn't have to book a separate appointment, I could just reach out to them. If I was concerned and wanted to checkup on baby outside of my normally scheduled appointments, they would be more than happy to do that. They don't just care about delivering a happy, healthy baby, they care about a happy, healthy mama throughout pregnancy, during labor, and after delivery. These ladies will sit with you and talk about whatever's on your mind during your appointments even if it doesn't have to do with the pregnancy, if it has to do with you and it's on your mind, they care. (Obviously they make sure to check up on baby as well and listen the the heartbeat, etc.) I delivered at their birth center and it was such an amazing experience. I was able to labor in the birth tub and then delivered on the bed. I had some tearing and was able to be stitched up right there. We stayed for a few hours while Connie and the birth attendant checked on us periodically, and then we went home. Compared to my hospital birth it felt so strange leaving so soon after giving birth, but let me tell you, getting to sleep in my own bed and not be woken up every 15 minutes by a nurse checking on me was wonderful! I also received my placenta capsules really quickly and someone came to our home for a followup visit which was nice not having to leave the house. I am pregnant with my third and in their loving care once again. The bottom line is I have complete trust in them as people, in them as midwives, and in the staff they've hired. I know that they never want to do a hospital transfer - we were counting down the days to my "safe date" because I went four weeks early with my first and if I went that early again I would've had to deliver in the hospital. They want you to have the birth that you want, but they won't compromise the health and safety of mom or baby. The most important thing is that I knew and trusted them and their judgement that if during labor they said we have to go to the hospital I would have listened and known it's the right thing to do, regardless of if I wanted to or not. It takes that trust on both sides and I genuinely know that Connie and Erin have my best interests at heart and they will always be making decisions or recommendations based on that. They care, they really really care and they know what they're doing. Everything that Canyon Midwifery is and the people behind it - I couldn't ask for anything more from those who are being trusted with the life growing inside of me.

After a glowing recommendation from an OB I work with and trust I decided to look into birthing with Mary. From the first visit Mary and Ellen conveyed confidence, compassion, experience and humor. It was clear that a safe birth was the top priority even over achieving a home birth if necessary. Her experience and philosophy of birth gave us confidence in trusting her with our care. Best decision ever. During labor Mary was so in tune with me and my progress she recommended a cervical check at just the right time to address a stall on progress caused by my posterior cervix. This timely intervention saved me from potential hours of exhausting and unproductive labor. After just 5 hours and in the comfort of my own home our daughter was born into Mary's loving hands. During pushing Mary took care to prevent perineal lacerations and after delivery she took steps to mitigate risk of postpartum hemorrhage for which I have a history. Both allowed me to experience the best postpartum recovery yet! By the time Mary and Ellen left, my daughter and I were clean and fed, our home looked as if nothing had even happened and I got to sleep in my own bed knowing help, advice and encouragement was just a text away. Mary is truly invested in the care and wellbeing of her moms and babies from the first visit through the postpartum period and beyond. Hearing Mary speak of her identity as a midwife is inspiring. To her midwifery is a calling, a way of life and a service to her community. It's a part of who she is to the core. I am so thankful to her and can't imagine birthing any other way.

She is caring, strong, so well informed, a perfect blend of hands-off physiological support with modern medicine, and she's wonderfully fun and wholesome. We had the privilege of working with Deidra as well and I adored her sweet and caring nature. I always looked forward to seeing them both and I'll miss seeing them regularly now! Morgann and Deidra have been such an incredible foundation to our birth team and we couldn't ask for better midwives to help us bring our first baby into this world. We felt so loved, supported, informed, and empowered throughout our experience to make the best choices pre and postnatal for myself, our family, and our sweet baby girl. In the midst of a very long, first labor Morgann gave me some of the best motherhood insight I think I'll ever receive-- she encouraged introspective thinking and gently guided me in knowing and trusting in my own "mother's intuition" vs personal anxiety/fear. This insight helped me make a tough choice to choose an intervention I hadn't wanted initially (breaking my waters), but ultimately was the right choice for me and my daughter, Ruby to finally progress our labor and deliver her despite my own anxiety over how it may intensify labor which already felt overwhelming. Our conversation around this was quiet, loving, gentle, compassionate and had zero pressure. It still brings me to tears to think about and I'll cherish it forever! Morgann is not just a medical support, she has celebrated in our joy, she has been a shoulder to cry on (in labor and in postpartum as my husband struggled with life threatening medical issues), she's given clarity, choice and informed consent, and she's no-nonsense direct when it's needed (like when our baby decided at 39 weeks to be breech for a bit!). So invaluable! Thank you, to both Morgann and Deidra for your love and support. Our family is so blessed to know you. I feel tremendously happy for every family in the future who will be supported by you and God willing, we'll see you again soon for baby #2!

However, I did encounter one very rude phlebotomist (the heavy-set Caucasian woman who worked in the small office near the bathrooms). Every single time she took my labs. Don't work in healthcare if you have a negative attitude. What truly broke my trust was what happened with my sister, who I referred here because I believed she would be well cared for. She suffered a miscarriage, and instead of providing compassionate and thorough care, the office repeatedly gave her medication to pass the pregnancy without success. Her concerns and fears were consistently dismissed with reassurances that "everything would be fine." Shockingly, they never performed an ultrasound to confirm that the pregnancy tissue had passed. This went on for months. Ultimately, my sister ended up in the ER, where it was discovered that there was still retained tissue, and that the baby had been inside her for three months. I am horrified that her life was put at such serious risk of infection and complications due to the negligence of this office. To make matters worse, one of the doctors even told my sister that "ultrasounds were too expensive" when she asked for confirmation that the tissue was gone. Because she is non- confrontational, she didn't push back, but the ER nurses were shocked at how poorly this situation was handled. The ER reviewed her medical notes and confirmed how severely she had been neglected. My sister ended up having to get a D&C at the ER where they pulled out A LOT of tissue. I am disappointed. For that reason, I will not be coming back. If I were ever to experience a complicated pregnancy or miscarriage, I know this office would not take my concerns seriously or provide the care needed. It is truly unfortunate, but I can no longer trust this place, and now I have to find care elsewhere.

Michelle has been by my side for the births of all three of my children, and I can't imaging a birth without her. Each experience was so unique and different, but her support, knowledge, and encouragement were invaluable every single time. I wanted unmedicated births, and Michelle gave me the confidence, preparation, and tools I needed to achieve that goal. During labor, she knew exactly how to support me physically and emotionally, helping me stay focused and calm through some of the most challenging moments. When I doubted myself, she reminded me of my strength and helped me trust my body. What sets Michelle apart is that she doesn't just show up on the day of your birth. She invests in her clients, provides evidence-based information, answers questions, and helps you feel empowered to make decisions that are right for you and your family. Her presence brought a sense of peace and confidence that benefited not only me, but also my husband. She helped my husband understand my needs and how to be a source of strength. She guided him through ways to encourage and comfort me during labor, which allowed us to work together as a team and made the experience even more positive. Because of Michelle's support, I look back on all three of my birth experiences with gratitude and pride. If you're considering hiring a doula, I wholeheartedly recommend the Modern Momma team; they are compassionate, knowledgeable, professional, and truly passionate about helping mothers have positive and empowering birth experiences.

I hired Michelle as my birth doula through Modern Mama and overall had mixed feelings about the…read moreexperience. She is clearly knowledgeable and experienced, and I am thankful for the role she played in my birth. During transition and pushing, she offered guidance and support that was helpful in those intense final hours. I do believe she understands birth well and brings expertise to the room. That said, there were a few things that did not sit right with me. At multiple points during contractions, when I looked up, she was visibly on Facebook and Instagram. I understand that long labors can involve downtime, but she was only physically present at the hospital for a few hours during transition and pushing. Given the relatively short window of in person support, it felt disappointing and inappropriate that she was on social media during that time. It made me feel like she was not fully present in such a vulnerable moment. There were also moments where her reactions felt disproportionate, such as when the toilet water unexpectedly splashed up. Her response heightened the situation rather than helping me feel grounded and calm. In addition, I found the overall value of the package to be underwhelming compared to other doulas I interviewed. Many offered formal childbirth classes (which were extra through MM) and ongoing support groups as part of their services, whereas Modern Mama primarily offered monthly mini classes on rotating topics, which did not always feel directly relevant or comprehensive. For the investment, I had expected more structured education and support. Though I was appreciative of the nice photos that were included. I am grateful for her knowledge and the role she played in helping bring my baby into the world, but I do wish the level of presence, professionalism, and overall value had been stronger throughout the experience. I likely won't hire Modern Mama again although I don't have experience with the other doulas.

During birth, she was able to tell when my husband needed some extra help, asked the hospital staff for what he needed on his behalf when he was not mentally able to, and gave us guidance based off of my preferences and state of mind that led to an incredibly successful birth. Her postpartum care has honestly been the highlight of her services. I did not realize how much help we would need overnight and the help and resources that Jenn provides have been invaluable. Jenn claims she is not magic - but she is. You are in the best hands with Birth You Desire.

Our baby was born during one of the worst snowstorms in years and she made sure she was prepared and there to support us (even if it meant getting snowed in at the hospital). Without her care and experience we would've had a very different birth that likely would've ended in an emergency c-section. I had a lot of anxiety about giving birth but Jenn helped put me at ease and explained things very well. She is warm and has an evidence based approach to her work. She also looked out for my partner which I really appreciated, ensuring he ate and rested. Afterwards we also used Jenn's overnight doula services to care for our infant and she was just as fantastic with him. Not only did we get a good night's rest when she was here (priceless), we also felt so supported with learning about newborn care and dealing with all of the emotional aspects of becoming parents. Our journey would've been different without her and we will forever be grateful that we had her support.

I went to my appointment at 40 weeks, and we decided to schedule another appointment for the following week to discuss the option of induction if the baby did not come. When the baby didn't arrive, I went for my appointment, but the receptionist informed me that Dr. Brotsky had gone on vacation and wouldn't return for a week. I understand that people have lives, but this information hadn't been communicated to me, and I was 41 weeks pregnant. I felt abandoned. I wanted to speak with a nurse practitioner at least to ensure the baby's safety, but they told me I didn't need to talk to anyone and instructed me to call the hospital in three days to schedule an induction. I experienced a lot of anxiety waiting for the baby and having no backup plan. Three days later, the hospital called me and asked me to come in within 40 minutes because apparently, Dr. Brotsky had scheduled an induction for me, but no one had informed me. We rushed to the hospital. Dr. Brotsky returned for the birth even though I had been told she was gone for a week. After practicing pushing with her a few times, she left me with the nurse. I had an epidural so I was not feeling contractions and the monitor was not working and not reading them. I was pushing but not making progress. When I asked Dr. Brotsky to come back, she responded with, "How can I help you?" when I was so vulnerable and needed guidance and support. Once she arrived, my baby was born in 20 minutes. So she could have helped by simply doing her job!!! I am grateful that both my baby and I are healthy, but I couldn't have the birth I had envisioned because of poor communication and planning. I don't recommend Dr. Brotsky. While she seems to care, it feels insincere, and in reality, she does not seem to prioritize her patients' needs.
