We are so grateful for Connie, Erin and the canyon midwifery team! When we first found out we were pregnant we weren't sure which route we were going to take - home birth, birth center or hospital, however we really wanted to use a midwife either way in hopes of keeping our birth as natural as possible. We first met with Connie and she was amazing at explaining their midwifery model, and how they do prenatal care, birth and postpartum care. Throughout the remainder of our pregnancy we got to know both her and Erin better - the love and care they have for all their mammas blew us away! We love how they offered a birth class, during glucose testing they held another "class" walking us through the many options & resources we had regarding birth & caring for our babies. We also love how their team has an in office lactation consultant who met with us before baby even came & gave so much great insight regarding setting up my breastfeeding journey for success. Best of all, it's such a family practice and we were told countless times that our baby was loved and prayed for! :) When it came time for labor, my water broke - Erin was quick to get us in to check, confirm it was my water and walk us through some natural ways to induce labor. The next day we ended up back at the birth center where I was able to labor with free movement, the option to eat/drink, and with Erin there available to help coach my husband & I through different ways to work through contractions & progress labor. After laboring all day, my body wasn't going past 7cm so we had the conversation about options for transferring to a hospital to get induced. At this point, Connie had taken over and was AMAZING at walking us through our options and allowing us to make the call to transfer. Once we decided that would be best for us, she contacted our preferred hospital, and got all of our records over to them. We ended up giving birth to our beautiful baby boy in the hospital a few hours later. Despite our transfer, Connie still stayed completely available for us for any questions that came up. There was never a moment where we felt Connie & Erin didn't have our best interest in mind. They cared so well for us, and we are so grateful to have had our prenatal care, a good amount of labor time, and my postpartum care with them! Although it wasn't the birth we originally imagined, it all worked out so perfectly and we felt SO much peace through it all thanks to Canyon Midwifery! read more

Birth from 2022... Connie and Erin are the most caring, thoughtful, professional, and respectful midwives! I was only able to have one of my four births with Canyon Midwifery because of moving in and out of state but I would have used them with all my babies if I could have. I had the most peaceful, beautiful water birth at home and I felt loved and supported while never pushed or coerced. Being able to communicate easily was a priority to me and it was so lovely to get ahold of Connie and Erin easily. I also received wonderful lactation support while postpartum. I highly recommend Connie and the staff at Canyon Midwifery. I've had 3 home births with her and am currently about to have my 4th home birth in 2024. I first met Connie 10 years ago in 2013 when I was pregnant with my 1st son. She worked at another midwifery at the time that had multiple midwives with hospital privileges. Depending on when you went into labor, you didn't know who would attend your birth. Connie had done quite a few of my appointments, and as a nervous 1st-time mom, she instantly put me at ease. She was always attentive to me and genuine. She is a very calm and relaxed person; being around her is a delight. I must mention that I went through two incompetent doctors and transferred my care to the midwives 2 weeks before my due date with my 1st because of a lack of care to answer my questions and no intent to follow my birth plan. So meeting Connie filled me with such hope that I could indeed have a natural birth in a hospital setting. She didn't end up attending my 1st birth, as another midwife was on call, but her care during my appointments is what brought me back to have my 2nd and 3rd son with them, all attended by another midwife on staff. When we got pregnant with my 4th son, the midwifery wasn't around anymore, and I tracked Connie down to see if she was still practicing midwifery care. I was so relieved to find she had started Canyon Midwifery and would be able to help us with our first home birth. We had a successful home birth with Connie, and went on to have two more with her. All of my home births are very fond memories for our family. Especially because Connie helped me fully prepare before the birth and assisted me through it as well. I can't imagine birthing with anyone else; she has taken the time to get to know me, my family, and knows how to help me in labor. Every labor is unique, and she is good at sensing what you need before you do. I've never had a problem with the care I've received, and am so thankful for the experience I've been able to have. She and her team did an excellent job helping me prepare for each birth, making sure I had everything I needed during the home visit, and when I was in labor, they came right away. During birth, I always felt heard and supported. If I didn't want to try a position, they didn't make me. They followed my birth plan and also helped make my husband feel useful and a part of the birthing process. He even had the opportunity to catch a few of our babies. They always did a great job cleaning up and getting me comfortable afterward. Their care and love were felt during every one of my births with them.‍ One of my fondest memories is when we had our 5th son who was born around 5 am. Just as Connie, Erin, and Becca were getting everything cleaned up, my four sons woke up and came into the room and were mesmerized by the sight of their new brother. Connie was so kind to help the boys stay calm and allow them to enjoy that moment. I also remember when I had my 2nd that she let my oldest, who was about a year at the time, help with the appointment by sitting next to me while holding the ultrasound probe with her so he could be a part of it. Having known Connie as long as I have, and with 3 soon to be 4 home births under my belt, I know for a fact that Connie and her team truly love what they do. They are professional, and their office is clean, tidy, and gorgeous. Everything they do is well thought out to make mothers and families comfortable and at ease. They serve women out of a desire to serve the Lord. When I go to my appointments, I look forward to seeing women that I consider my friends. The atmosphere there is always positive and supportive. I've not experienced this in any other health care practice, which is why I keep coming back to her. Connie is a gem and a wonderful midwife! Erin is so joyful and will leave you smiling with her humor, the office staff is helpful and beyond kind. Canyon midwifery is the best! Connie and Erin are amazing at what they do! Connie recently delivered my third baby. It was my first time having my baby at a birth center and the experience was amazing, I would do it all over again! After my daughter (2ndborn) and the not so great experience I had with my previous OB I was excited to be with Connie. We opted to have our baby at the birth center because honestly I was excited to use the birth pool. I started laboring at home and when I felt it was time to go to the birth center Connie promptly made a plan and we met at the birth center. I labored a little more and got to go into the pool. Had a couple more contractions and had baby boy in the pool! Never in a million years would I imagine I would have a baby in water and it was the best experience. Overall the care I received from Connie, Erin and nurses was amazing. Throughout my pregnancy Connie and Erin made sure my platelets were where they needed to be and that was one of my main concerns. They have me peace of mind about everything, Connie even prayed with me over my platelets.I also am so happy with the in home 3 day postpartum visit from one of the nurses that was at the birth. I truly don't know where to begin with my review of this phenomenal practice. I came to them after being extremely discouraged with conventional birth practices at a previous doctor. The team at Canyon Midwifery treated us like family from the very beginning. They answered every question (no matter how silly it seemed) and were fully present at every single one of our appointments. They offered alternative routes and options wherever possible and encouraged us to make our own decisions and assured us they would support us in whatever decision we made. When it came down to the birth of our daughter, they were patient, positive, and encouraging in every way. I have no doubt that if we were in a hospital setting I would have been pushed into a Cesarean because of how long the labor was compared to how hospitals want it to "progress". They monitored me constantly, made sure baby and I were safe, and trusted my body to deliver my baby at the perfect time. I chose to meet with Connie when I was about 24 weeks pregnant. I had medicated hospital birth with my first two pregnancies and really wanted to have a home birth for my third. My husband was skeptical of a home birth, but felt more comfortable with the decision after meeting with Connie. Connie and Erin were amazing! I felt heard and never rushed at any appointment. It was so different than my experience with an Obgyn (who never actually delivered my babies). The obvious faith they had in my ability to have the home birth I wanted gave me so much peace and confidence. My delivery went so smoothly from start to finish. 22 month overdue review: First, I would just like to say that Connie and Erin provide the utmost exceptional care and treatment during pregancy, birth, and postpartum. My pregnancy was unplanned, and the person that got me pregnant did not want any involvment in my pregnancy or baby's life. Connie and Erin did not judge me. Instead, they welcomed me with open arms, and showed compassion. They genuinely cared about mental, emotional, and physical health. They always reassured me that I was doing great, and I would be a great mom. They were my biggest cheerleaders. I am a picky eater and I have a sweet tooth; as a result, I ended up developing gestational diabetes during my pregnancy. Connie and Erin provided me me with the tools to monitor my blood sugar levels. Erin gave me suggestions on what slight adjustments I could make to my diet and to make food more appealing or palatable. Connie and Erin cared about my baby and I's health. Because of their high quality of care, my gestational diabetes did not turn into actual diabetes, and my baby did not get diabetes. Connie was gracious enough to allow me to deliver my baby in her home because I felt uncomfortable doing it in my parents' home where I had been living. Connie even allowed my mom and younger sister be in the room the entire time. During my contractions, Connie and Erin suggested I take a shower. Boy did that help aleviate the pain!! After I finished taking a shower, Erin surprised me with a warm towel to dry off with. Erin rubbed lavender oil on my belly. Connie and Erin made sure I was as comfortable as I could possibly be, and made sure that I drank plenty of water to stay hydrated. The entire process was perfect; from start to finish. I could not have asked for a better team to have been on the 11 month journey with me. Unfortunately, I did not think think to get pictures of Connie and Erin with my baby. I wish I had. This is the only picture I have of someone from Canyon Midwifery after my birth. She was showing showing me how to feed the bottle to my baby. Where to begin! These ladies become family! I had one midwife before Connie and Erin who wasn't "bad", but it definitely wasn't the care I wanted or needed. I didn't feel cared for or wanted until I met Connie and her team! They welcome you into their hearts and lives! I literally drive over an hours to receive care from them. It's that worth it! I love their beautiful balance between natural and medical care! You will not feel uncared for. They prioritize you and your needs over their own. Second baby with Canyon Midwifery. Connie and Erin were AMAZING AS ALWAYS. I experienced severe depression my first trimester and Erin and Connie both helped me through this with referrals. Connie is a very humble sweet laid back lady. Erin is very kind and caring also laid back. Both have great personalities for delivery, tentative and soft spoken. My first childbirth in 2021 was a home birth with Connie and Erin. This one I had to go to the hospital but I know Connie and Erin did what they could to try to get me through delivery at home. After 5 hrs I became extremely tired and baby wasn't coming. My husband drove us to the hospital, I delivered at Banner. My baby was big, her shoulder was stuck and wasn't getting past my cervix. Advice I would give any momma is pack a bag just in case things don't go as planned at home. This is baby number 4 and every birthing process played out differently for me. If I become pregnant again I would go back to Connie and Erin. Both are wonderful ppl and knowledgeable. Where do I even begin? I have so many wonderful things I love about Erin and Connie and my experience with them it's going to be hard to fit it all in, but I'm still going to try! I had a hospital birth with an OB with my first child and I just knew there had to be a more personal care out there...the whole wait in the waiting room for an hour just to be seen for five minutes was ridiculous...especially for someone who's bringing my child into the world. In between my first and my second child was less than two years in which I had 8 miscarriages. By time I found out I was pregnant, I was in the second trimester already and it took me a while to decide what route I wanted to go for care. There's no other way to put it - God lead me straight to Canyon Midwifery. Connie and Erin took such good care of me the entire time. Anytime I had a question or concern I didn't have to book a separate appointment, I could just reach out to them. If I was concerned and wanted to checkup on baby outside of my normally scheduled appointments, they would be more than happy to do that. They don't just care about delivering a happy, healthy baby, they care about a happy, healthy mama throughout pregnancy, during labor, and after delivery. These ladies will sit with you and talk about whatever's on your mind during your appointments even if it doesn't have to do with the pregnancy, if it has to do with you and it's on your mind, they care. (Obviously they make sure to check up on baby as well and listen the the heartbeat, etc.) I delivered at their birth center and it was such an amazing experience. I was able to labor in the birth tub and then delivered on the bed. I had some tearing and was able to be stitched up right there. We stayed for a few hours while Connie and the birth attendant checked on us periodically, and then we went home. Compared to my hospital birth it felt so strange leaving so soon after giving birth, but let me tell you, getting to sleep in my own bed and not be woken up every 15 minutes by a nurse checking on me was wonderful! I also received my placenta capsules really quickly and someone came to our home for a followup visit which was nice not having to leave the house. I am pregnant with my third and in their loving care once again. The bottom line is I have complete trust in them as people, in them as midwives, and in the staff they've hired. I know that they never want to do a hospital transfer - we were counting down the days to my "safe date" because I went four weeks early with my first and if I went that early again I would've had to deliver in the hospital. They want you to have the birth that you want, but they won't compromise the health and safety of mom or baby. The most important thing is that I knew and trusted them and their judgement that if during labor they said we have to go to the hospital I would have listened and known it's the right thing to do, regardless of if I wanted to or not. It takes that trust on both sides and I genuinely know that Connie and Erin have my best interests at heart and they will always be making decisions or recommendations based on that. They care, they really really care and they know what they're doing. I never thought I would write this review, but I've now encountered so many women who have had a cruel experience with Connie and Canyon Midwifery that I feel as someone who has gone through so much work to unpack and process my horrible care with Connie that if I can stop just one woman from experiencing this that it is worth putting part of my story out there. I am no longer angry or resentful of Connie and her team, but I genuinely believe Connie should retire from midwifery. Connie does not care about your story or you and your baby as individuals. Everyone in her care is a number in her business. If you are in her care you will notice little red flags especially when she talks about other mothers in her care and her lack of compassion when she abandons them. When care with Connie is established she knowingly lies about several things including having a backup midwife, birth assistants, doing home visits before labor, letting you transfer to a hospital she has privileges at, encapsulating placentas quickly, etc... Connie loves to abandon women in labor. She is HIGHLY inconvenienced to leave her home and come to a birth. She will downplay any and all signs of approaching and active labor. If there is even a hint of anything being not the easiest birth ever she will make up some reason you need to transfer to a hospital. Her transfer rate is atrocious but she will probably not be honest about it. She leaves women with no choice but to seek hospital care while in labor for normal things that can come up in labor/birth. Connie tells all of her clients to not get a doula which is a huge red flag. She will tell you that she is your doula. There is nothing that Connie does in her care that is in the role of doula. She likely says this to remove one more layer of accountability for her actions. When Connie abandons women in labor she doesn't even bother to drain their birth tub. In my case the 150 gallons of water spilled into my home which my husband and I got to discover upon returning home from the hospital after a completely unnecessary c section. In my case the feelings of trauma actually had less to do with the disappointment with my hospital experience and centered around how cruel and mean Connie was to my husband and me while in labor. Connie will gaslight you and when you question the care you received in labor will find a way to blame you. She lied in my chart about every conversation we had during postpartum appointments. Do not put your trust in Connie. Do not make the mistake that I did and hire her because she supposedly takes insurance. Don't do what I did and think that if it gets bad enough you can always transfer care. It's too late to transfer care when you're at the end of your birth and she dishonors your wishes or simply walks out of your house and drives home. There are so many wonderful midwives in the valley. So many of them will love you, listen to you, give you the care you desire, be upfront and honest about what they are capable of doing, will stay at your home no matter how long your birth is, will not leave as soon as your baby is born, will clean up all the birth supplies and mess. Please don't choose Connie for your homebirth. Let your first homebirth be a beautiful experience where you are making decisions for your family and supported by a competent and caring midwife. I don't want to to come across as aggressive or reactive, my birth with Connie was over 2 years ago. Since then I've had another homebirth with a real midwife who is amazing. The contrast in care could not be more stark. I want every women seeking a homebirth to have my second experience not my first. read more

I am currently under the prenatal care of Connie and her amazing team for the second time, and I could not recommend her more passionately. I found Connie almost two years ago and have used her for every facet of my care since (pregnancy, postpartum, lactation, gynecology). I have worked in hospitals and with physicians for years and knew that that was not the space that I wanted to labor or deliver, and the Canyon Midwifery team provides the exact experience that I was after. My sister in law recommended them for my second pregnancy. When I was pregnant with my first child I went the "traditional" route through my gynecologist. It was a rocky experience where I was not shared all the information about my pregnancy. My daughter was given extra monitoring for her heart. I was put in a supply closet, strapped to heart monitors, and listening to blaring alarms with no explanation. I never met the provider who was going to deliver my baby. Then I had to deliver during COVID. I was told my husband may not be able to attend. I had to push with a mask on. Needless to say the second time I was looking for something much different. I found it! My first appointment was with Connie and Erin in their home. They answered all my questions and explained what to expect. Then they excitedly asked me if I wanted to see my baby. It's so hard to try to put into words their enthusiasm for my little baby. I was so used to clinical, sterile, unemotional care. I knew in that moment my baby and I would be safe and loved in their care. All my other appointments took place in their new office, which is adorable. I love how inviting it all is. I was always made comfortable and was explained every step. I never felt like I was asking too many questions or making them run behind. They made sure my baby and I were always safe. When my baby would not turn in the right position they gave me a shoulder to cry on and talked through all the steps. They gave me so many things to try to get the baby to move. My baby finally moved and I was able to deliver at home as planned. The baby then decided to stay late so there was concern about having to have a c section. When I finally went into labor it was another long labor. My husband and mom stayed in contact with Connie and Erin about how I was doing. When they came to my house they jumped right in helping me to get things moving. My labor was very intense and I appreciated they support and guidance. My baby finally came and we were all surprised it was a boy. I felt completely safe and so did my husband. They took amazing care of my son and I! I loved being at home after having given birth! The support from the nurses and lactation provider were amazing too. The only thing I would've changed was having them come a little sooner to assist with my labor. I absolutely LOVED that the nurse picked a verse for my son and put it on the paper with his foot prints. Erin, Connie, and their team was a huge blessing to me and my family! read more

I had both of my babies with Connie and she has been such a great blessing to us through my pregnancies and deliveries. In both my pregnancies, I developed multiple conditions that needed treatment and Connie was very on top of getting me the help I needed! Both my pregnancies required me to have my babies in a hospital to be induced. After delivering my first baby, I told Connie that I was in so much pain and that none of the medication had relieved me. She discovered that a hematoma developed and none of my postpartum nurses had even noticed. The hospital nurses also didn't monitor the times I used the bathroom and the hematoma caused me to be unable to pee. I was so lucky that she had come back up to check on me, as she was about to head out for the night. Her quick thinking prevented my bladder from a potential rupture and a night of pain!! With my second baby, the chances of developing the condition I had with my first was high. Connie made sure to do the testing needed to diagnose me and treat it up until induction. Connie and her team are the sweetest people and they are so personable! We admire all this team puts in to ensure proper care and safety for mommy and baby! read more

If I could give one million stars for a review, I would. Connie and Erin were an absolute godsend. From the moment we connected with their office, I knew that we were in the right hands. God really did put them in my husband and I's lives. Their care was so intentional, so faith-based, so gentle, so patient, so loving. I could sing praises over and over about them. This was my husband and I's first experience with a midwife and that had us a little nervous. Our first daughter was born via c-section, our second daughter was born via VBAC with an epidural, and our intentions for our third baby was to have a natural water birth. From the beginning, they expressed how much they knew in their hearts and souls that I could do this! It was going to take work, but I absolutely had the ability to do it! Their constant reassurance and affirmations is truly what kept me going and ultimately gave me exactly what I prayed and hoped for: a natural water birth! During the labor and delivery, Erin was with me almost from the beginning of labor. She was INCREDIBLY patient with me, as I navigated through the pain. She never got frustrated with me, never gave up on me, never allowed me to give up on myself. Once I started pushing and was close to delivering our baby girl, Connie walked in and I experienced this sense of relief. I knew I had the best team of women right next to me, helping me welcome our sweet baby girl into the world! Even after our daughter's birth, the care we received was the absolute best. Our postpartum visits were intentional, informational, loving, filled with grace, and filled with support. At our 6 week postpartum visit, I seriously could have cried because I knew that it was the end of our journey with them *for now*. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED my care with Canyon Midwifery so much so that I delivered twice under her care. One in August of 2021 and recently in February 2023! After my first experience with a doctor/midwife obgyn office, I KNEW I COULD NEVER GO BACK after being with Connie and Erin! From the moment I arrived to my appointment, THEY WELCOMED ME with open arms and answered all and every questions/concerns I had. I never felt rushed! I started my care with insurance and lost it half way through my first pregnancy with her. I thought I was going to have to let go of my dream of having a home birth, BUT CONNIE CARED MORE about me carrying out my dream birth and we worked out a plan. Even with my second birth I didn't have insurance and SHE OFFERED ME RECOURSES to help me. WE CREATED A PAYMENT PLAN that worked best for my family so I could use her birth center, which I loved!! Connie TRUSTED I would pay her even if it meant I paid her off months after birth! For that, I'm forever grateful! MY WORST NIGHTMARE CAME TRUE with my recent birth with her and I STARTED TO HEMORRHAGE after birth. Connie and her team STAYED VERY CALM and WORKED EFFICIENTLY to stop my bleeding. They knew exactly what to do! I WILL FOREVER TRUST THEM WITH MY LIFE and the life of my baby! THEY ARE PROACTIVE IN THEIR CARE AND NOT REACTIVE! I would like to say that I've looked around when wanting a midwife. When I finally found Connie, she was the only one who made me feel important. She answered all my questions and my worries and made me feel safe about a home birth. She listens to your concerns and will do what you want to do, whether it's a medicated birth, all natural, or something in between. She will be there, she was came the day after I had our son in the hospital and made sure we were all doing ok and being well taken care of. Connie has an amazing team and is growing. Where to begin!? when I first met with Connie and her team almost 2 years ago, I was pregnant with my 5th kiddo. I wanted a home birth and had never had one before. Our first meeting was on zoom where my husband and I interviewed her about the process. she calmed all our concerns. Throughout the pregnancy, Connie took the time to explain things that no other doctor or midwife had ever told me and that you think a mom of four kids would know already. I was excited to find out that my insurance completely covered all my appointments with Connie. the team was very flexible with me, offering zoom appointments when my littles were sick and I couldn't make it to the office and when I did go into the office, allowing me to bring my kiddos with me. (something other offices were unwilling to do). Her team took the time on several occasions to allow my children to hold the Doppler and find the heartbeat or baby on the screen during ultrasounds. During labor, the team was available! I had a false alarm but they came ready and stuck around for hours. they wouldn't leave my house until I gave them permission to go. They left and returned a couple of days later when my labor was more active and I was ready to roll. The team was amazing. It felt like I was in a room with close friends, talking and laughing the whole time. I had a "this is what delivery should always be like" moment so many times during the process. Our sweet babe was born January 14th. I woke up at about 1 am with contractions. By 2:30 I called Erin she was on the phone with me through 1 contraction and asked if I wanted her to come now or wait. I told her to wait about 30 min and let's see how things are looking... 20 min later she texted to ask how things are going - as I labor pretty fast usually- and when I sent her a screenshot of my contraction timer she responded with "on my way" When she got to my house she helped me through a few contractions listened to baby and took my bp. All was well and we waited a little more time. After a bit she asked if I wanted to be checked. I said yeah and I was at a 6. Things weren't to bad and everything was manageable. There were a few contractions that I felt I needed help with (my husband squeezing my hips and or Erin applying pressure to my lower back) Becky came and she was equally as patient + calm. There were 2 contractions back to back that were insanely intense and I ended up feeling very nauseous after then threw up. Becky gave me some homeopathic meds to help with the nausea and it helped significantly. Couple things that stood out to me was if I was having a contraction when they went to check baby hr and my np they 100% stopped and let me get through it before proceeding and I could be in basically any position for them to check these. I also didn't have to lay down or stay 100% still etc. I labored in the shower for a while and they both basically let me do my thing unless I needed them. At about 6:40 erin asked if I wanted her to check me again. I felt rather confident in my laboring but this made me anxious because I was scared I wouldn't be at the number I "wanted" to be at. My husband and I were talking about it and I allowed it. I was at a 7. I felt incredibly discouraged. Erin asked if I wanted to break my water. That it was SUPER THIN and if she did baby was prob going to be here within the hour. I was super hesitant. I knew that if she broke it that personally I would feel uncomfortable with leaking but also knew that things were about to get far more intense. But on the other hand... I also was pretty tired... I wanted a bit and told her yes. For some reason even though my water was thin it was not easy to break! As I was walking back to the shower I prayed to God to give me the strength to focus and remind me if it does get tough that he is there and I'm about to meet my baby soooo soon. I also got in to keep in hopes that it would help with the surges AND maybe alleviate some of the discomfort of leaking. I was in there for about 30 min and ended up getting to hot and got onto the bed. As I was on the bed we come to realize that she was slightly stuck. This is where I am in sheer disbelief of a homebirth vs hospital. There was not even the smallest bit of panic. There wasn't a change in demeanor, nothing. Erin said here is what we are going to do an coached me through getting baby "unstuck". This by far was the hardest part for me and most fearful - pushing. I kept needing to get into different positions because I felt really uncomfortable. Between / during contractions Erin was shaking me because it was the only thing that felt good. She would communicate different things at times when things weren't intense. At one point I needed to turn to my side and she reminded me that I'm not trying to fight my body but work with it. It got so intense for me that I ended up breaking down and basically went into a panic. The whole time they were sweet until I got so out of my mindset that Erin had to be stern. This helped remind me that when most moms said "I can't do it anymore usually means they are about to meet their baby" I mustered up the strength and started PUSHING. She was born at 7:41 (within the hour). She helped deliver my placenta cleaned me up and got me situated in my bed. About an hour and a half later I had to use the bathroom and was in a bit of shock. Erin held space for me during this time. She made sure all my needs were met. After they made sure baby and I were all good they cleaned up and let us be a family together. I also want to point out that almost the whole time my 8 yr old daughter was with us. Erin and Becky both were so kind to her too. Assuring her that everyone and everything was okay. She got to be there for the birth and announce the gender. This was so special to her and meant everything to us. Postpartum we had one of the nurses come. She checked on me and baby and was so very kind too. I was also in communication with Erin because this pp has been a bit different than the rest and she made sure to answer all the questions I had. All and all this is my last baby and really the labor and delivery of my dreams. I can't thank them enough for helping make that come true for me. read more

At most OBGYN offices, your prenatal visits are about 10 minutes where they check your vitals, listen to baby's heartbeat, say "got any questions?" and then they're onto the next patient. This is not the case at Canyon Midwifery. Each prenatal appointment is booked for an hour time slot to allow time to ask questions, talk about fears, and get to know your providers. They are truly invested in your family and pregnancy from day 1 & feel more like family than medical professionals. Every step of the way, I felt so heard, educated, & empowered. I had an easy pregnancy with no complications under Connie & Erin's loving care until my 36th week when I developed gestational hypertension. They were so diligent about checking in on me & handling the problem right away. I ended up needing to birth at a hospital instead of at home like I had planned for my own & my baby's safety, but thanks to Connie it was such a pleasant experience. I was able to avoid lots of medical interventions and labor the way I wanted to at the hospital. Connie was there for me every step of the way from check-in to birth. In the delivery room, she brought such a calming presence and truly put an emphasis on letting me listen to my own body to bring my baby earthside versus the typical coached pushing. I have been working with Becky, their IBCLC since delivery due to my baby having oral tethers that needed to be released. She's helped me preserve our breastfeeding journey! I am over the moon about my pregnancy and birth experience, and will absolutely be using Canyon Midwifery for all of my future babies as well as recommending them to everyone I know who would like to take a more natural route with a staff who treats you like family. I had to write this after I saw a mean review for Canyon Midwifery from someone whose care seemed to have been around the same time as mine, going off her post. I chose CM for my third pregnancy for several reasons, one of the biggest being I was over the "care" I received in the conventional birthing setting (I saw Desert West OBGYN for my back-to-back babies, and came out on the other side fairly unimpressed). So I suppose I set the bar a little lower going into a third pregnancy because of my first two birthing experiences, and so I really didn't realize at the beginning the level of care I'd be receiving from Canyon Midwifery. But I'm so grateful I took a step of faith in having prenatal care and an at home birth through CM because not only was the whole experience amazing, but Erin and Connie truly helped grow me in some pretty priceless ways. I learned so much from Connie and Erin! Not just about how to confidently birth at home, but believe it or not they taught me how to see myself for the good mom I was when I really didn't think anyone else did (it was greatly because of Erin's education and just taking time to conversate with me that I came to realize I was suffering pretty bad from ppd from my my first two babies.. they're eleven months apart and my husband was deployed two weeks after we conceived our second baby). Like I honestly don't know how long it would've taken me otherwise to realize I was suffering if I hadn't met Erin :') They never minded when I had to bring my two littles (2 and 3 at the time). And I say mind because my babies were rambunctious hehe, but they were so patient and understanding and supportive. Basically their personability is pretty hard to beat, and I really felt CARED for and not looked at like I'm just another preggo lady passing through the center and hospital. They have empathy for their patients and great respect for their birthing wishes. But wait let me keep going! I ended up with gestational diabetes with baby #3, and this is embarrassing haha, but honestly at first I sort of gaslit myself into thinking it was no big deal all because I didn't want to prick my fingers and do the blood draw! Erin was so gentle with my reluctance. She offered to be on a FaceTime with me while I did it for the first time because I was so scared! Haha, it's a lot of little things with CM. But here's another part of my story that I really want people to know: Like six weeks before my due date, Connie had a hip replacement. Two weeks before my due date, she had the other hip replaced! And that dear woman still showed up to my birth in the middle of the night! They were on their way as soon as I text them it was time, and my baby was born a short while after they arrived in the most peaceful and professional way I could've ever imagined. Erin helped me deliver with Connie overseeing (my baby was Erin's 9th delivery--my lucky number :) and they both helped out in a non-hovery way and had respect for my decency. I really don't want to sound cliche, but I finally had a happy birth story made entirely possible by Connie and Erin. I love those two ladies so much for guiding me through the whole experience, and highly recommend you give them a call, they have also since opened up a birthing center so you have that option as well! For the believers out there: If you share that with them, they subtly invite that into your birth experience. They knew I'm a believer because I had a few conversations with Erin at appointments just talking about life and God (like I know her title is not therapist but she really deserves that title too haha!). The next morning after baby was born she came over for a checkup and to give me some forms. When she presented me with baby's footprint certificate, she tells me, "for our moms and families we know are believers, we like to include a verse to send you and your baby off with. We pray for a different verse for every woman." She reads me the verse, and then just began encouraging me with hope for my new life chapter. Tears were definitely shed lol. When I say personable, I mean they are simply wonderful! And you'll find all kinds of reviews from women from all different backgrounds and walks of life that vouch like I do for Canyon Midwifery. Every once in awhile I'll send them baby photos to update them, and even with three years gone by, they're as sweet as ever (Grandma Connie and Auntie Erin ;). Gosh one more thing, if you like to support small business, their husbands also help run things and I believe it's Connie's daughter in law (I'm sorry I forgot her name, it's been a few years haha) who was an excellent lactation consultant. Put off writing this review due to the need to process my birth trauma. Without getting into too much detail, Connie essentially abandoned us while in labour and seemed to be bothered by us contacting her while I was in labour. Ended up having a traumatic hospital birth due to her neglect and lack of care and respect. Sad that she presents herself to show empathy and then seems to be all about the money as a bottom line. She also had some red flags in my prenatal care in relation to appointment scheduling, which should have shown me her true colours. Hoping for a positive birth with my next children, but still upset that I had to go through so much pain due to her actions. ZERO STARS! LAZY, INCOMPETENT, AND KNOWINGLY DEVIATED FROM MY BIRTH PLAN REPEATEDLY. SHE RUINED MY DREAM OF HAVING A HOME BIRTH AND I STRONGLY RECOMMEND ANYONE CONSIDERING HER TO TURN IN THE OTHER DIRECTION There are so many horrible and unpleasant experiences with Connie that I literally had to redact several of them from this review due to character limitations. For context, I have six children and with that, have many experiences to compare against my experience with Connie. Connie scheduled her 1st hip surgery during the month I was due. She not only chose to have surgery on one hip but decided to do the other a few weeks after. This put her in a lot of pain and in a walker. She could hardly walk, stand, sit, kneel, etc... unassisted. Seeing her this way, so close to my due date provoked a lot of concern, anxiety and worry as I wasn't sure she'd be physically well enough to deliver our baby. It was awful to keep these thoughts in my mind and all to myself during pregnancy. I understand Connie's a person too and needed some care of her own but there was no consideration of how this would affect me, no dialog with me to address the situation or the transition of my care to Erin (RN/her daughter in law) or her ability to safely deliver my baby in her present condition. Doubts on whether my water broke on its own. At 9:35, Connie and Erin arrive at my house. From the moment Connie came into my home, I felt this negative energy from her. We had all been at ease and everything was going as I had hoped until she arrived. By this time, we have tried many helpful positions to get this birth going and the birthing pool is all set up. I hear her mention to my husband that she was in bed when we called. Her comment implied to me she seemed a bit inconvenienced. Connie asks to examine me to see how far dilated I am. As she was doing so, I felt a sensation which I can only describe as a kind of pinch/tug and suddenly my water broke. This was the first time ever my water hadn't broken while walking/standing. I wasn't in the mindset to question this in the moment but in reflection, it feels like more that coincidence and certainly raised a lot of doubt in my mind as to whether my water broke naturally. Connie RUINED my water birth: I'm 9cm and Connie is already saying I can push whenever I'm ready. I'm in the bed, not in my birth pool and she's wanting me to push? I made sure to say to those around me I wanted to get in the pool. As I stood waiting for the water to cool a little my contractions are coming and going. I get in the water and hear Connie quietly mention to those around me that "She could push if she wanted to" again. But I didn't understand how I could do that if I'm so only 9 cm? I felt confused and rushed, as though I needed to keep things moving for Connie. Connie was having a lot of difficulty kneeling and getting close enough to deliver the baby because of her surgery. Just as I feel the need to really push and deliver the baby, Connie instructs my husband to get me on my back and lean pool for support. I'm in agony at this point and can't advocate for myself. I wanted to scream in that moment not to be put in this position. THIS WAS NEVER IN MY BIRTH PLAN AND NOT WHAT I WANTED AND CONNIE KNEW THIS. I end up on my back, against the pool. At Connie's instruction, my husband is holding me up under my arms, I have ZERO support on my bottom, my legs are slipping and I'm floating up and my arms are being pulled back as my husband tried to hold me up. In that moment of pushing, I had two thoughts: 1. Getting baby out and 2. how much I wish I didn't have to be birthing my baby in this awful position. But everyone is following Connie's guidance at this time. At this point I just wanted to be done birthing my baby so that I could hold her and get to bed. CONNIE MADE THIS ONE OF THE MOST MISERABLE EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE! Imagine trying to give birth on your back, not being able to move your arms while you're floating away! Other memorable moments: - Connie "opted out" of doing the home visit outlined in her birth package - Connie needed to be nudged repeatedly to come the day of my delivery - Connie Rushed me out of the birthing pool - Connie pricked my baby's heel when I asked her not to - Connie took cord blood when I did not approve - Connie wiped all the Vernix off the baby when I requested it not be removed - Connie couldn't have cared less about my birth plan - Connie was unable deliver my placenta and transferred me to a hospital I explicitly asked not to go to and other than where she stated she would be able to practice Conclusion: Connie was controlling, manipulative, lazy and lacked passion in her calling. How can someone in the business of delivering babies not listen to or respect what the expecting mother has outlined in her birth plan? Terrible service, partnership, team work. These women are genuine God sends. After working with an OB for the first 18 weeks - and quickly realizing that was not the care I was looking for.. I took a recommendation from a friend to meet with them. After 5 minutes with Connie I knew I was in the perfect hands. By the end of that first meeting I walked out with the happiest tears in my eyes for finding someone I felt actually listened to me and made me feel empowered about pregnancy and birth. I looked forward to every single appointment with them whether it was with Erin or Connie, and walked out each time feeling so incredibly loved and important. Fast forward to the day I gave birth to my sweet little Kade, and Connie was extremely attentive throughout my laboring at home until it was far enough along to go to their beautiful birthing center. My labor and delivery was the most incredible day of my life, and I owe a lot of that to Connie and their nurse Janina. They listened to every request and we were able to welcome my sweet boy in their birthing tub in an amazing water birth and then immediately relaxed in their beautiful bed until we were ready to go home. Janina followed up that night - and then came to our home the next day to do his follow up appointment where she brought my placenta capsules with her! I enjoyed every minute I worked with these women. I would recommend them a million times over. I genuinely cried at our last post natal appointment because I felt like they were family and I was going to miss meeting with them. They will 100% be where I go for our next babies. read more

My experience at Canyon Midwifery was so beautiful. They were so accommodating with appointment times and plans changing. The appointments did not feel rushed but like talking to a friend. I had a million questions and they answered all of them with no hesitation. I felt very prepared and supported going into labor. When they day came and I gave them the green light to come they brought such a calming loving energy to my home. I felt they had my back, I could relax and focus on the process. When pushing time came she was right there guiding me but not pushing me to force the baby out. my husband caught the baby and it was magical. I did have a small tear and Connie stitched me up cautiously to make sure I was comfortable. they supported me during the first moments of breastfeeding and stayed to make sure everything was good. I had a great postpartum and didn't need a lot of support. If you need lots of communication and extra support postpartum I would definitely communicate that, as the check ins are spaced out.
