I called a bunch of places to place my DBA order because I didn't even know how to file it. Out of about 15 places this was the only place that answered their phone on the first ring every time I call ...and answered all my questions in the next five minutes. They were so patient and understanding and they taught me how to do it online myself so I was able to save an extra $50 and then I had them publish it very inexpensive could not believe their prices were out of this world. For $40 I was able to have four newspaper ads and get my proof of publication filed in certified. All this lasts for five years. I ended up bugging them probably five or 10 times in the next few weeks because I was so paranoid and they're open 24 hours a day and they have a text message capability where I reach a real person at four in the morning. They were answering me back. I had my friend go here too, and she referred her parents here... they cant speak very good English. And within moments, they put a Spanish-speaking agent on the phone so they were able to do their order quickly as well. Everyone we talked to was so nice and so friendly and took their time answering all of our questions and helping us, even though I know we we were the most annoying. I don't know how they stay in business with the rates that low, but I highly recommend them no matter what their prices are there well worth it. Drama! Check the other reviews. There are a lot of ones! It's like 50/50 chance you'll get the someone that can't handle the "pressure" of their job. I got them today. There seems to be a few people over there who can't stop themselves from having tantrums over nothing. I don't believe low cost should equate to poor service, but Canyon News disagrees. First the person I was texting seemed upset I had already paid the $39 they quoted me. After they disappeared on me after I sent the money and my DBA, I called to see if there was an issue after the last response to me was I would normally be paying $160. The women who answered was clearly extremely upset before the phone even rang, she said they were very busy in an aggressive tone and continued to make random accusations and assumptions. I asked if she could hold on and let me record the conversion so I could get her version of the current call on record, she hung up on me and then immediately responded with the following texts messages (see photo). 3 hours later they responded again aggressively stating they were going to refund my $39. They did. That's fine. I'd rather give a more professional publication my money. The whole thing was weird and sad. It's just dropshipping some shirts on Etsy. It's not that serious. Yelp clearly states the following: Privacy: Don't publicize other people's private information. Please don't post close-up photos or videos of other patrons without their permission, and please don't post other people's full names unless you're referring to service providers who are commonly identified by or commonly share their own full names. Your exploitative responses to myself and the other unhappy customers have not only been screenshotted and reported to Yelp, but have also been reported to the BBB for overt violation of Privacy Guidelines. There is no way to deny any of the violations you've consistently committed over the years, even if you delete your responses now. If anyone else has had the misfortune of dealing with Canyon News' violation of privacy and their bitter rampages, please report them to Yelp and the BBB as well so they can stop exploiting customers. I got an internship at this news organization. I had to leave the orientation phone call early to go to class. I was trying to work out some kinks in the internship with the company whatsapp (i was not given any contact information for any one person at this time) and was met with snarky behavior. One staff sent a winky face and told me to "not be paranoid." When I asked who I was speaking to, they said i was speaking to four people and that over the course of the internship up to 20 could reply through the whatsapp. They were too concerned with whether i was in class (which is none of their business) or not to reply to my simple questions about my internship. I emailed who i thought was my supervisor, editor in chief Trevor Roberts. I asked for the information I missed from the orientation (which he said he would send earlier), his credentials, and for him to review the screenshots i sent him of the whatsapp chat. He addressed none of this, and send back an unprofessional email telling me i should be in class. Not only does this not concern him, but he does not even know when my classes end and begin. I do still have screenshots of the whatsapp chat and the emails that i send to Trevor. I believe that I need permission from them to post private messages, so if i see they respond with permission to post their unprofessional interactions i can, and people can decide for themselves if this is how a newspaper should treat an unpaid intern. read more

It's a shame I cannot select zero stars. My email address was correct in their system. I was not rude. I did not yell at anyone. I did not ask for a free service. This is just an extremely unprofessional group of people who do not understand that an apology and a caring tone go a long way. Their defensiveness is only indicative of the fact that they cannot take any criticism. My original review is below.... I have used Canyon News in the past for another DBA publication and had a great experience. Immediately after receiving the email confirmation of payment, I received an email from them with a proof of what the publication would look like. There was actually a spelling error in the DBA name, so I was grateful they had sent me a proof. I quickly corrected it and once they made the correction, I approved the proof. Soon afterwards, I received confirmation of publication. I felt they were very prompt and professional and decided I would use them again. This time around for two new DBA publications, unfortunately I did not have the same experience. After receiving the email confirmation of payment, I did not receive a proof or confirmation of publication. So, I called the office to find out what happened, and spoke to Lisa, who was very short and irritable with me throughout the conversation. She was so flustered, she asked me for the date I submitted the transaction, my company name, and my email address twice, because she wasn't listening. When she asked me for the company name, I gave her my corporation's name as the registered owner. When she couldn't find it in her system and asked me if it was the two new DBA names that I had registered instead, I replied yes that's the two. She snapped at me that these were the names she was looking for to begin with, not for the registered owner name. Geez lady, be more specific then! It was funny, because it she found them just fine anyway. I explained that the last time I used their services, I had received a proof and a confirmation of publication via email, and so I needed the status, because I have received neither this time around. She said they had emailed me the proof later the same day I paid, but then went ahead and published when they didn't hear back from me. I asked why do you publish it when you haven't received an approval of the proof? She said it's because they cannot wait and legally the DBA needs to be published within a limited time-frame. Ok that's understandable, but how about following up at least once, maybe twice before doing so? What is the point of a proof then? She wasn't sure why I had not received the proof or the confirmation emails when they had my email address correct in their system. She did send the confirmations of both to me again, and I was glad there were no spelling errors this time around or I would have had to call cranky lady back! This interaction left me with the impression that this is one of those businesses where you pay for a service and then just hope everything goes right, otherwise you are stuck calling or interacting with them which was not pleasant in my experience. I may have only paid $90 for both publications, but I did not feel like they appreciated my business. I am not planning on using their services a third time, or recommending them to anyone else. read more

I asked for future clients' sake to maybe take a little more time and be less snappy. They responded by aggressively calling me and were offensive and overly defensive that they receive too many emails. After ending the call, they emailed me harassing me further. Talk about an amazing dedicated staff. We filed for an FBN recently and by law, it needs to be published for four weeks. We found Canyon News via the LA County Registrars website. They were the lowest price and hey we went for it. We filed it online and there was an issue that they brought to our attention. The issue was fixed and we're good to go. The best part is they email you back very quickly as well as they even have a phone number! I spoke with a live person every time I called which was twice. Awesome service at a GREAT price for FBN/DBA/Legal filings. I got so caught up in my everyday responsibilities of my 9 to 5, being a mom, etc. that I almost forgot to publish my FBN by the 30th day deadline. I was surprised that Canyon News was so much cheaper than the other publication companies on the list the registrar recorder office provided. Canyon News also didn't have the rule where I had to get my application/request in a week ahead of time. As part of California's process for setting up a fictitious business, it's mandatory to publish a statement in a newspaper. Canyon News was the easiest to file with--all I had to do was fill out and submit a form online, no scanning or mailing required--and one of the cheapest. Much to my surprise, they turned out to be incredibly helpful, as well! I called and e-mailed a few times, trying to make sure that everything was going according to plan (because the whole DBA process is complicated and takes awhile and I sure as hell didn't want to have to do it all again), and they were always friendly and helpful.
