The food we had for breakfast was delicious! We were a bigger group and everyone was very happy with their order. I will say mistakes happen everywhere, my feelings and judgments are based on how the mistakes are resolved not in the fact an error happened. We checked in and when we went to our room it hadn't been cleaned (unmade bed, trash in the trash cans etc). Apparently it was mistakenly marked off. The owner went above and beyond to fix things and make sure we were cared for. Customer service is top tier!! I know it's a small town in a lesser traveled area but I know we will be back and I do highly recommend to anyone passing through! Also stop by the old fashioned soda and ice cream counter, even if you don't need a hotel room!! Trust me, you won't regret it.

The hookups were perfect. We bought firewood and asked for the pit to be cleaned out (we didn't have a shovel). When the fella came to deliver wood, he cleaned out the pit. We told him we we're making s'mores. He actually scrounged up a couple pieces of scrap wood and ran it back over to us. Great guy!!! The girl in the office said they didn't have fire-starter, but said we could walk around by the woods and pick up kindling.

It was a last minute decision to make a trip down to Cape from St. Louis, so we frantically searched for a place to stay downtown where we would be close to the action. The other two bed and breakfast places were both booked and FAR more expensive than the Kage House. I called up the owner after finding their site on VRBO showing they had openings for tonight. He said unfortunately their cleaning crew was on vacation so he didn't know if they could get it ready for us for the night but that he was traveling on his way to Cape Girardeau from St. Louis as well (but a couple hours ahead of us). He said he would take care of getting the place ready for us in time for our visit! When we arrived the Kage House was just 1 room located above a business on Broadway. The interior was beautiful and new with a full kitchen (stocked with Keurig machine and all!), gigantic king size bed, living room and large TV, an more. The exterior had a grill, large porch, and beautiful views of the Mississippi River. The stay was wonderful and the service even better! I would highly recommend staying here if you're ever in Cape Girardeau for the night!

She was very knowledgeable about the trails here as well as local history. She obviously loves her job and that is a wonderful thing to see. The center itself was very nice with a large number of taxidermy birds and mammals. The history of Indians and the forced march they had to endure is focal point of this park. The park offers some good views out over the mighty Mississippi River. We will return to hike the trails on another day!

The first thing the camp host told us was "no refunds." It was tacky. We left after being there a few hours. There's no way we could handle being so close to a train track.

Tent camping is separate from RVs, and if your experience is like mine, you'll be shoving cash into an envelope instead of talking to an actual person. It seemed adequately maintained, although many of the sites don't have picnic tables, and this isn't a campground where you're going to have an opportunity for a real shower at any temperature. The other moderate downside is that there's no avoiding Franklin Street, so you'll hear the occasional car throughout the night. But with a population of about 500, Karnak isn't exactly a metropolis -- so it's great that they have this setup at all.
