Many dentists claim to work with children with special needs, but not all offices really understand/make an effort to make accommodations that help make things easier. My daughter has fairly significant needs (medical and developmental, she is 12 years old and non verbal). She has previously had to have cleanings done under full anesthesia (at a hospital, due to her medical needs) due to having difficulty finding an office that could accommodate her needs. I picked Dr. Wilson due to her affiliation with our insurance and because she has privileges at CHOC (in case my daughter needs anything done under anesthesia). She had us come in for a consultation to understand my daughter's needs and discuss what was needed to get her taken care of. Then she had us come back for the cleaning on a different day at a time when there were no other patients so it would be quiet and less overwhelming. She had a papoose to help my daughter stay still and safe during her cleaning, and was able to get what was needed done quickly and effectively. No need for anesthesia for a simple cleaning!! I'm very appreciative of the kindness, compassion, and individualized approach to care that Dr. Wilson and her office staff showed. Special appreciation for Mimi who went above and beyond in coordinating insurance issues and helping ensure my daughter was able to get the care she needed. Thank you!! read more

Tried a few pediatric dentists in our area and were so happy to find this one! Dr Wilson is so great and patient, especially if your child is a bit anxious with any dental work. They offer great alternatives such as gas and oral sedation if needed. The front office is always so amazing with our kids when we walk in. Communication regarding up front fees etc couldn't be better. Appointments are always on time! We even showed up one time a day early by mistake, and they still saw my two kiddos for cleanings :) Highly recommend ! read more

We absolutely love this dental office. My daughter is on an HMO plan and after not being satisfied with providers through her plan, I decided to pay out of pocket to have her seen here a few times. The staff is kind, professional and SO great with kiddos! The office itself is clean and super kid-friendly. We've now found a provider in-network that we'll be seeing so we're leaving this office but I would come back in a heartbeat. Highly recommend them!! read more

My kids get SO EXCITED for the dentist... literally racing to the front door! We have been clients since 2017 when my daughter had a traumatic tooth injury and fractured her two front teeth. Horrible experiences here. They gave me a price for work to be done on my child, and then later did not honor it once the work was started, and said it would be more money for same work. Very bad business ethics and dishonest. Dentist was very rude when I asked the dentist to wear her shield at the peak of the pandemic. Everyone in office wore but her, and she was the one working on my child. She refused to wear it. Would avoid at all costs. Go elsewhere. read more

Dr Chand is phenomenal! My daughter was apprehensive about the dentist and Dr Chand went above and beyond to make sure she was comfortable. She explained everything on her level and made sure I was informed every step of the way. My daughter also got a goodie bag and a sticker to complete her exam and cleaning. Jill at the front desk is so proactive she called my insurance company ahead to be sure that everything was covered and taken care of. Turns out my daughter needed some dental work rather quickly and they moved things around to make sure we were scheduled promptly. Dr Chand not only sat down with me to explain everything but also sat down with my daughter to give her an explanation that a five year old could understand. Dr Chand truly has a way with children and a phenomenal bedside manner. I can't recommend this office enough they are top notch in so many ways. read more

For the past two years I have been bringing our three kids to the San Juan Capistrano location and it has been great. The previous dentist office we went to said one of my kids required extensive work and the cost was quite high even with insurance. We felt the work stated was excessive. We wanted a second opinion so through referrals we found Capistrano Children's Dentistry. They confirmed my kid needed a lot of work but the amount of work identified was about 30% less than the first place. We felt very comfortable with the Dentists and staff so we decided to have the procedures performed there. Everything was done very well. Although my child is usually scared and squirmy with previous dentists, my child was very comfortable and entertained by the in-ceiling movies on every visit of her procedures. They always explained every step to my kid as well as me. It was such a great experience. My kids actually look forward to going to the dentist now because they get to watch movies and get balloons, a small toy and a sticker as a reward from them. read more

My kids have been going here for 4 years and they love it (which means I do too). The BEST dental care for kids! When it came time for my son's first dental visit, I tried really hard to bring him to my dentist. I had some bad experiences as a kid and did not want to bring him to anyone. I wanted to bring him to someone I trusted. But unfortunately, my dentist told me they are not the best equipped to handle children and referred me to Irvine Children's Dentistry. So off we went. The experience was fantastic - they were so accommodating to me and my son. So reassuring and patient and gentle. When I found out they have another location near my house, I transferred and have continued to receive the best service. My son has had quite a few cavities filled with them and each and every time, it's been a pleasant experience (he even fell asleep one time!). My daughter has been lucky in that she's not had a cavity filled yet but she loves going every 6 months for her cleaning and checkup (as does my son). I can't recommend this practice enough. If I didn't adore my own dentist so much I would absolutely try this place for myself too now that they offer adult dentistry. What used to be a anxious experience for me as a child has become a pleasant one for my kids and I am eternally grateful for that as I want them to continue taking care of themselves as they grow older. I cannot thank this dental office enough for all they have done for my daughter and my family. Dr. Wilson and Jill and all the staff were amazing with my daughter, who needed extensive work on her mouth that even required general anesthesia. That was something this Mommy was extremely concerned about but they use only the best doctor (Dr. Gary) and was able to put my mind at ease. Overall, the procedure went excellent, providing the upmost patient care and they were able to give her back her beautiful smile. Dr. Wilson is very patient and very skilled and will answer all your questions and I never felt rushed through the process.
