I called Capistrano Crane Service and the owner, Dave was super helpful over the phone. He took the time to view our location on Google Earth and made an assessment. Scheduling was very easy and they showed up on time. He assured me his team could get the job done. I also called two other crane services. The first place said they couldn't do it based on the slop of the street. The other place, the receptionist didn't know how to use Google Earth and just quoted a price based on my quote with CC. Our Laguna Beach home is on a awkward steep hill. And it took awhile to get the crane to level out. In the mean time I had neighbors insisting for the crane to move so they could leave in their car. So they moved the crane during the middle of setting up. The crane operator, Edward, needed more wood to balance the crane so Justin came out to assist. They both worked hard to try a third time to get it right. In the mean time our crazy neighbor insisted they move so she could get out. The team was cool with her and were ready to move again until I found out she was lying and was expecting company. So I stopped the interruption. On the third try they were able to lift our hot tub into place. It was a close one! Justin and Edward were awesome and I highly recommend Capistrano Crane Service. I had a lot of fears. Our back yard was a sea of mud and we had 10 huge, heavy (some almost 2,000 lbs) steel planters and a giant retaining wall to position. Some of these were over 20' long! And they had been powder coated, so man handling them and getting them scraped up was a big concern. The plan to "cart" them into position was no longer an option. I was VERY pleasantly surprised to find Capistrano Crane Service. While their time includes transit, they were only 15 min away, so I had up to 2.5 hours of their 3 hour minimum ~ and that was only $525! With all the rains, they worked with me on scheduling ~ even calling the morning of to advise they'd be running 30 minutes late. Their operator was super easy to work with, especially with our "thread the key hole" very exact placement requirements. The operator was patient as we discovered a post hole had to be re-dug, and he was very skilled in clearing a lot of obstacles while getting each item *exactly* where it needed to go! This company is outstanding! I had a huge built-in refrigerator that had to be removed from the 2nd story of my home in Laguna Beach so that the new one could be brought up. Due to a very narrow, spiral staircase, there was no alternative but to use a crane. I had been referred to Capistrano Crane from several neighbors who had a similar situation. I called and booked the crane, unaware that I had to have a moving crew to assist the crane operator. I thought Capistrano Crane was going to send a crew. The crane operator informed me when he arrived and I called the owner to apologize for my ignorance. He was exceptionally kind and understanding! I found a crew, rescheduled, and got the job done within a few days. The thought of a massive refrigerator swinging from a crane between homes in Laguna Beach was terrifying to me and I was a nervous wreck! The crane operator, Justin, couldn't have been more calm and collected! He was amazing! Not only did he operate the crane smoothly and accurately, he also came upstairs, secured the refrigerator and instructed the movers I had hired on what they needed to do!
