I went to this company a couple of months ago to see if they could make an adjustment to the footplate of my custom wheelchair. As a wheelchair user, we sometimes need small adjustments/alterations done on our equipment but don't know where to go to get that done. Often deciding to just 'live with it the way it is.' Or, on our own, 'MacGyver' something that 'sort of' works. It is so amazing to find a someone willing to help. Anyway, The owner, and his employee welcomed me in and said 'SURE' they could do exactly what I was asking for... right there, on the spot! They chatted with me in the shop while working on my footplate. I was there for probably 30 minutes. The results were EXACTLY what I wanted & I would (and will) go back to them in a split second. I dropped off my header for repair and Dave asked me when I needed it...a couple of weeks. Before the second week I called to ask if he knew approx what day it would be ready so I can fix my schedule to match. He had done work for me before and it was excellent. But this time he became infuriated, telling me that he said "I told you I'd phone when it's ready...I don't want to work for you...come pick up the part and go elsewhere". And hung up on me. I had bought a super rare discontinued exhaust for my NSX (that's right NSX owners, better listen), and it was shipped from Japan. I got the exhaust for a really good deal as work needed to be done. Mainly, I needed to get it rewelded. The problem here is that the exhaust was titanium and not a lot of welders or exhaust shops can work on it. Thankfully I found Dave's shop all the way in Lake Forest. I drove all the way from Lakewood to Lake Forest, no questions asked as I wanted my exhaust done by the right person. And Dave was the guy! His mentee was the one that worked on it, but either way both are great people! He was very thorough, and talking to Dave in person was great. The exhaust runs fine with no issues, no additional unnecessary sounds either since it was rewelded. They even fixed a little dent on the exhaust tips. So I had a crack in the frame of my truck that needed to be repaired. I found Specialized after googling around and reading reviews. I called and Dave picked up immediately. He gave me his personal cell number to text some pictures to. He was able to give me a very fair quote based on the pictures. Even though it was a small job, he was willing to help. On the day of the work, Dave was very friendly and welcoming. His employee Jason did the work while Dave gave me a tour of his business and talked shop. He even offered me a drink from their fridge while we waited and chit chatted. Very hospitable. Jason was also very friendly and did a spectacular job with the frame repair. Even though there was some unforseen complications, he figured it out and made it work. The repair looks perfect and strong. I can't recommend this shop enough. They're willing to do small jobs even though their contract work makes way more money. Really appreciate the hospitality and professional work. I needed a strut bar fixed as it had broken a weld. I found this place searching the internet for a way to get this fixed. Not many places do small job welding anymore in the area. After locating this business via Google maps and seeing the reviews here I decided this would be where I can take my special request. I arrived and they were more then willing to help. Gave me a time frame of Friday (brought it in on Wednesday). Since I was in no rush, this time frame was more then addiquot. Later on the same day I received a call that it was done. I was excited that they had no issues resolving my problem. And at a fair price as well. If you are ever in need for fixing anything that requires welding this is the place to go. I cracked a sufficient part of my car's subframe and bent a few things on it as well. These guys not only re-bent and welded the cracked part to the correct dimensions, but also went through and reinforced other structural components of the frame as well and repainted it; all within 3 days with other project going on. Perhaps, I caught David on the wrong day and we all suffer from those - don't we! With a 5 star rating I had to go and give these guys a try. Their yelp page shows that they open at 9:00 AM on Monday. I adjusted my schedule to go into work late to be there at 8:55 AM. I waited until 9:05 and called - NO ANSWER. I waited another 10 mins and called again. This time the owner David answered. I asked if they were open, he said they were in the back. I told him I was waiting in the front and no one was there. Very rudely, he then asked me to come back at 10:00 AM. I told him I couldn't since I work 30 mins away. I asked what time he closes and he said they will be there at 6:00 PM. I would not be able to make it by 6:00 PM so I asked if what time they will be in on Tuesday. David said they open at 9:00 AM, so I proceeded to ask him if he will actually be at his office at 9:00 AM on Tuesday since I do have to adjust my schedule to make this time and unlike today I don't want to be waiting an hour for him to show up. I take it that he didn't like me questioning his tardiness and his lack of professional courtesy so he proceeded to ask me to take my work elsewhere. I told him, I would be happy to take my business somewhere else, somewhere where they value common courtesy and integrity. read more
