This park has a little bit of everything--playground, soccer field, basketball courts, baseball field, clean bathrooms, a walking/jogging path around the park, and even the San Luis Trail that leads straight to Oceanside Beach. It's tucked away in a residential area, which gives it a more private feel, even though it's actually pretty large. The parking lot is easy to access, and there are plenty of benches and tables for picnics or parties. The only thing I wish it had is a designated dog park area, since sometimes dog owners do not pick up after their pets. Other than that, I really enjoy this park and highly recommend it. read more

Love love love this park & playground - at the playground there are great options for a very wide range of ages/interests! From little tots to older kids there's something that will interest all kiddos. The park itself is huge and very well maintained! Great for dog walking, going for a run, or using the grass to come excise. I enjoy walking my dogs here, and they love coming here. This park is adjacent to a middle school so at times the students use the park for PE, to walk or run. The reason I like this park is because I have full view of my surroundings and with walking 3 large dogs I need some times need to avoid passing some dogs. Yep, I have 3 crazy dogs, somewhat behaved. The park is well taken care of. The playground is nice too. My grandkids love coming here because it has a little bit of everything a kid likes to play. Climbing, sliding and swinging play area. Sports take place here as well, not only walking, running, scootering and bike riding with the little ones. I've seen even dog training classes going on. Restrooms are well kept too. I will continue to use this park for my dogs and grandkids enjoyment. read more

Big park with plenty of grass and fields, several soccer fields. Quite expansive it goes on and on. Located right off of a main road, so easy to get too, and not far from the 76 as well. There are bathrooms, tables, benches, and plenty of trees with some shady spots. I saw a few people resting, napping, and enjoying the nice weather, There were several kids playing soccer, people walking on the sidewalks, and throughout the park. We went when it was not crowded, not peak time, no events - so there was plenty of parking. Great place to eat a picnic lunch and enjoy a nice day. read more

Nice sized park. There's a paved trail that runs along the perimeter of the park in which you can run/jog, bike, roller skate, etc. The city also runs themed activities throughout the year. Mostly, soccer games are scheduled here on weekends. They have restrooms at the entrance as well as in the middle of the park. A play gym area for kids, 2 areas for different ages. There are some scattered picnic benches. This is where you can park too if you want to bike the San Luis Rey River trail. It's about 7 miles to the beach and 14 round trip. Or you can head in the opposite direction and head for Guajome Park. read more

Great park for families and sporting events. Restrooms on both sides of the park and a nice playground for kids. We are here weekly for the grandkids soccer games. Everything is well maintained and although parking can be challenging there are numerous spaces. Beautiful park for the residents of Oceanside as well as visitors to the city. read more

I love this park and have been a visitor for years, but I just saw a used condom lying around in the grass, so it's definitely not as clean as it could be. A lot of people are walking their huskies today, and the playgrounds and fields make it somewhat kid-friendly. However, there is also an ice cream truck that stopped by today! This park is within driving distance from my house (unfortunately, it's a bit too far to walk, or I'd be here all the time!), and there's so much space for everything from playing with RC cars to flying kites and drones to throwing around a football, frisbee, or other tossable ball! There are several benches and tables with trash cans everywhere to avoid littering, and there's a restroom right by the playground - convenient when you've got little ones that can't make it super far on a full bladder. At dusk, there are lights all over the park that come on automatically. The park is very well-lit, and there aren't a lot of trees for things like frisbees and kites and balls to get caught in. This is actually one of the most spacious, open, and different parks in the city. We frequently bring our dinner here and have family meals...which is a fun experience for all of us, and gets us out of the house. The spaciousness of this park makes it fun to run around and gives you plenty of room to engage in activities - people aren't going to get in your way at this park. It's not very wide, but it is very long, and with most of it being field space with a playground and restrooms in the middle, it makes it a good place to have everything from Birthday parties to remote control device races! This park is safe, clean, well-maintained, and isn't located right next to the street, so you can let your little ones run around freely without worrying about them going out into street and getting hurt. It's seclusion from the main street (College Blvd.) actually makes it even more appealing for me to bring my family. Mance Buchanon offers year-round opportunities for fun, which makes it the perfect place for families and friends alike! We have been living in a new home in Fallbrook almost a year now and we still come out here to ride bikes and play sports/. This is a huge park just driving by and looking at it may seem like a decent size but it very large. Not a lot of people use this park I thought because it's so big that tons of people would it. This park can handle a ton of people as it does on the weekend as people are running on the trail or kids playing soccer. If you're looking for a big open space to throw a football around with the kids or do anything else in an open space this is the park to do so. read more

As far as public parks goes, it's a pretty decent park. The Oceanside Breakers use the fields for soccer practice and games so if you're looking to kick around a ball or play on the grass you might be hard pressed to find room. With that in mind, parking on Saturdays from September to November can be a nightmare. Unless you arrive early or late in the afternoon before and after games. Restrooms are clean. read more

Love this park. Just the sheer running room for my son to use is one of the reasons I take him here. The activities in the playground are a bit more challenging as well compared to other parks in the area. Only place I dislike is that there are no basketball courts (you'll have to walk a ways to even see one in the school nearby and I am not sure if non-students (or parents of said students) are allowed to go in. read more

I've been in the area since before the park and its made a huge difference in the community. Overnight, the neighborhood changed into a family community. There are lots of families, sports activities during the day and the Generations Church does lots of activities for the holidays. It measures a little under a mile around the perimeter so it's great for running, biking and just walking the dog. Every once in a while there is some vandalism which is cleaned up very quickly by the maintenance staff. The grass is sometimes on the dried out side, but for a really large park without a lot of trees, its probably to be expected. Only downfall is that the large kids play area isn't covered. During the summer months it's almost unusable because there aren't trees around the play area so it's scorching hot. read more

Spot is legit, free of gangs as one persons was worried about. Grassy area, mile walking trail, playground and facilities in one spot. Weekend does not even get too bad with the youth soccer teams starting up again. Cross your finger for no unruly parents. Jus make sure you pick up after yourself and your dog. Super clean park mostly fields but does have a nice play area. Bathrooms weren't super clean but that's to be expected just about anywhere. Also had a little concession stand going on that was super convenient ! Good place to walk your dogs or go for a jog, lots of children's sports events going on. Nice park. Playground kept my 1 year old happy with the toddler swing. The big kids were able to swing climb spin and do the usual playground thing. I really liked how I could sit on a bench near the playground and watch one child ride a bike, one child on the play structure and one child (crawling) and playing with balls on the grass... While having them all in eyeshot. (do let them bring all their outside toys) The second time we went its was a Saturday and waaaay more crowded due to lots of soccer games on the fields, but the parking was still good and kids still liked it. read more

The park is clean and not covered in litter or graffiti like some of the near by surrounding parks. The bathrooms are clean for a park and the fact they have a bathroom is a plus. Mance Buchanan Park when first designed was pretty massive. Honestly most residents didn't realize how much open space wasn't being used. Compared to the much smaller, less used parks around the city Buchanan and Luiseno are pretty big. All that grass is hard to keep green and some of the year is a little worse for wear, but it's a nice place to run some laps, bring the kids or dogs (leashed) for some exercise. I personally use it as a meetup on bike rides. It's a nice point to start rides due to parking being abundance and central location for many. Now I don't have kids so I can't attest to the level of interest kids would have here, but I can say parents are always bringing them here whenever I'm meeting for a ride. It does link up to a school which already has fields, but I'm sure you can get quite a few soccer games here. I don't like the1 way in and 1 way out and people do speed out of here. I'd hope they make the final cross walk more visible. read more

It's a good park right up against a good old neighborhood. The size of the park is great and there's no problems with vagrants. It's a good place to let your kids play as well as taking walks around the park. The only downsides to this place is the parking on weekends and the lack of large trees to provide natural shade. During the Summer months a clear sky and high heat make this place a little unbearable. read more

Great park. Super huge but not like crossing a country. spacing is excellent so you don't feel like you are imposing on anyone's space. Large grass fields that allows family fun to run around and play ball etc. Not much for toddlers though but the open space is enough for them. read more
