I absolutely love wandering in Vault of Midnight and coming in for little gifts for my friends!…read moreIt's a bit overwhelming to try and find something if you're not a big comic book or graphic novel enthusiast but even as someone who appreciates it, you can ask the staff at any point and they will be more than happy to provide recommendations or point you in the right direction. I've never gone wrong with purchasing a gift here and I definitely will come back. They even have a punch card for loyalty which is amazing. Parking is a little tough since it's right on Monroe Center and street parking but I haven't had a big issue. I'm a huge fan overall and encourage people to stop in if they haven't!

I especially adored the staff recommendations. They don't just point you toward the next comic -- they link you to stories and media across genres (seriously, the "if you like Heated Rivalry, you might love..." picks are brilliant), making discovering new reads feel like a friendly conversation with someone who really gets you. Whether you're a regular or just popping in out of curiosity (like me), this is the kind of shop that makes you want to linger -- and definitely come back.

I consigned over 3000 britians toy soldiers with this place and did not appreciate the…read moredisrespectful treatment of my inherited collection. The owner did return the collection only to be thrown into bags and boxes like trash. All of them that were in the original boxes were returned in bags, now the value is greatly depreciated. It was bad from the start, first we were not properly informed of the auction or given the chance to see the display, which was horribly thrown into piles for auctioning. I expressed my concerns and the owner had his goons buy out the auction, which is illegal to do I'm sure! They did not even display all of the collection,he said they were broken or damaged! We have pictures of how they left my home in the owners care, when we finally picked them up there are over 1500 pieces broken and some unfixable! My grandfather collected these for over 70 years to be thrown around like nothing,he knew the sentimental value as well as the dollar value! I was consigning this collection to save my grandfather's family home and now this experience has left me with half the collection good and half broken due to their negligence and disrespectful business ethics.worst experience I've ever seen. I'm contacting everyone I can to make sure this does not happen to anyone else.

I've always WANTED to be but I think my main problem is I just don't quite know where to start. What I DO know, however, is that when I'm ready to jump on in and get schooled Back to the Past will be the place I go to get learned. The staff is just SO nice. Seriously, everyone I encountered when I popped in last week is just friendly as can be. Scott in particular was just a peach of a guy; very helpful, enthusiastic, and personable. I have a feeling they'd make some stellar teachers! The shop is tucked into a parking lot just a touch south of 96 on Inkster, although it's easy to spot with it's big banner and photos of comic touchstones and pop culture icons (Marilyn!) on the building. The space inside is HUGE. Racks and racks of comics fill up the shop with plastic covered wonder. I'm pretty confident that they'll have most everything you could look for there. But they don't just carry comics. They've also got a great selection of figurines and collectables, not to mention pop culturey items and nostalgic goods. As far as I can tell the price point is pretty darn good which makes the selection even more appealing (you can stock up on loads without breaking the bank!). But that's not the only reason you should hit up Back to the Past--they've got the most helpful staff around!

This is a nerd's heaven (and I include myself in that statement)…read more I'm not a big comic person, but I'm a collector of Funko Pops and a painter of Warhammer 40k. There are also some Magic and Pokemón cards and memorabilia. It depends on what you're looking for, but I'd say the prices here are reasonable. The employees were kind and asked if we needed help, but we were just looking around, so we didn't take them up on it. If you're not a nerd, this place might be scary for you. It's big and there are a lot of things that may be hard to understand. That said, if you're looking for an adventure, this is it!

We came in to look at MTG cards and dice mostly, but we found so very much more. They have all the fixings to start you on a d&d adventure including dice, books and figurines. They have cards upon cards for magic the gathering along with the binders, card covers and card boxs. Love comics? They have those too! Best part? You can order things from their site to get sent to your home or the store and it even has a wishlist feature so they can let you know when they get something in stock! My husband was giddy- "Ace, look! I can shop from my computer!" So, if you have a nerdy significant other, stop into the store or check out their online shop to give your love an amazing gift, maybe a Valentine's gift. Hopefully you'll love it as much as my husband and I did.
