Bottom Line: Neat, organized and interesting. I wandered into Capital Comics with a friend while we were shopping Main Street. I know next to nothing about comics. This was my first time in a comic store and I enjoyed it. Being on Main Street, the store has a quaint storefront and delightfully creaky hardware floors. The store was clean and organized. I looked around at the comics, books, games, trinkets and such. My friend, who knows way more about comics than me, noted this was a really nice comic store. She bought some comics for her family and I bought a new card game and we were on our way. It was a bit busy when we were in there and it seems like the employee was on guard in the back of the store where the register is located so there wasn't much in the way of a greeting or service. I'd gladly pop in to this small business again to see what catches my eye but I don't foresee me becoming a comic connoisseur. read more

Fair warning... nerd alert ahead: I have never encountered anywhere that has had the complete Sandman series in stock before. Not Border's. Not Barnes and Noble. And not any used bookstores (yep, I was just in one not 48 hours ago in the East Bay). Capital Comics does. In fact, they have multiple copies of some of the books in the series, in addition to an absolutely astounding enormous collection of various other comics. A whole rack of new Marvel books. A wall of more recently released comics. And this is not to mention the boxes of what appeared to be old used comics as well. Top this off with a staffer that not only confirmed for me that there are only ten books in the Sandman series - for some strange reason I thought there were a dozen - he also offered a rundown of an additional few supplemental graphic novels that Gaiman had written called Dream Hunters. Wandered in to this shop while exploring downtown Annapolis, and I am SO glad I did. They have an amazing selection of all kinds of comic books and graphic novels. I was able to find a collected edition of Captain Marvel that I had been searching for for over a year! I can finally read my comic books again without feeling like I will miss out on part of the story (I had issues 1, 2, 3, and 5, and now I finally found 4!). The guy at the counter was super friendly. Smaller than many comic book stores but with a great selection in what they do manage to stuff in here. Lots of versions of the current or recently current comics, plus some books and a few statuettes and other small trinkets. Helpful and organized. It's a good shop! read more

So my son is 4 and he love superheroes! He's favorite is Spider Man & Flash! So he's in school and we have to read a book every night, so I said let's relive my childhood and make this very enjoyable for both of us and let's get some comics! (I got a lot of catching up to do in this Marvel World!) So Coff was the gentleman that help us and he was great knew where everything was that I was looking for and suggested great comics for my son! By time we left we felt like we was part of the family! I went here in free comic day (May 5th, a Saturday) with a friend. Since it was Saturday downtown was packed, and adding on free comic day, the small store was also packed. Which is to be expected, outside of the store there were people dressed in costumes. This brought in a lot of tourist kids with their parents, and the employees handled them well, reminding them not to run, and to keep food away from the books. I went in looking for Snotgirl comics, and the employee I spoke with was knowledgeable and told me which issues I was missing, which saved me some time! On top of that they also had an indie comic I saw on amazon and planned to buy. I'm so glad I saw it here, I would much rather support local business! In all, they had a big selection for the amount of space in the store. I really want to come back next time I come downtown! read more

Walked into the store to by my nephew a Christmas present. I was working from a list of titles but needed some help finding them. The gentleman behind the counter jumped out and walked me over to exactly what I was looking for. Awesome service! I wish I received service like that everywhere. He was extremely informative and have me a couple of additonal gift ideas that i know my nephew is going to love. On Main Street in Historic Annapolis, most places of business are bars, restaurants, gimmicky souvenir shops, and a few chain stores. Sticking out is a comic book store: Capital Comics. It's not very big, but they manage to cram in a very impressive amount of books, toys, busts, shirts, and so on. Everything you'd think should be in a comic book store is here. A place like this shouldn't survive in this area, surrounded by overpriced tourist traps. But it's still there. I felt compelled to buy something, so I picked up a green Batman shirt for $20. A few washes later, it still looks like new. The girlfriend happened to be with me, and she bought some Muppet comics. Seeing as how we were both happy with our purchases, I think you would be, too. read more

I don't think I've ever been in a comic book store so I don't have much to compare this place to except what I see when I watch Big Bang Theory. There is a table with $1.00 comics, back issues, new issues, and a cart with sale items. There are toys, comics, clothes, and other miscellaneous items. When I visited this past weekend, there were six other customers besides my boyfriend and me. The place is pretty quiet and a little dark but otherwise, it's A-OK. read more

I'm very impressed. I went into Capital Comics looking for a gift for my 5 year old nephew and the staff member who was working there was extremely helpful. He helped me find a Calvin and Hobbes book and an Indiana Jones action figure that my nephew at least acted like he enjoyed. A very pleasant experience. read more
