So, when you feel the need to feed your inner superhero head on over to Fantom Comics. A well organized oasis for comic books, mysteries, children's books, toys, and Japanese anime characters. I love the way the space is designed so you can sit and look at the books, before you buy them. I thought prices were reasonable and the quality of the comic books was great! Like brand new first editions, they were spotless. Service was excellent. The gentleman at the counter was so helpful and friendly. If your inner superhero is calling then head on over to Fantom Comics.

And I do appreciate that they have a fairly nice kids section. But their selection of books runs sparse and they have barely any other products. It's like they dabble in collectible card games without having anything substantial. PRODUCT: Really very little. Despite a huge sign proclaiming they sell Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Pokemon, they did not have anything substantial to offer and from the look of their old product, they don't carry much at all. In terms of comics, it's not much at all. They have far more graphic novels. I'm not sure if this place wants to be a book store more than a comic book store. SERVICE: Okay. Nothing spectacular. Didn't feel like I was valued or helped much. The stairway leading up to it was filthy. COST: Average. Not inflated but not inexpensive either. No real bargains.

I sent them an email and within the hour I get a personal phone call back from Aubrey, the sweetest, nicest, most genuine person, they explain the situation and just having a little hiccup, they go above and beyond and refund the 2nd half, and help me feel better about the mistake. I can't thank them enough but they have gotten a repeat customer. These people have my business and I hope the boss sees how amazing Aubrey is and how great she is at handling customers. More specifically, this store has people that apparently love comics. Don't get them started. Really... don't get them started. They will tell you more than you ever needed. Nah... Get them started, you'll probably end up finding something else you want to read or collect. They explained how to read the sku to identify the different releases and where this particular one falls. If it's the original or a variant. How to find missing volumes. I started specifically because of Sam Wilson: Captain America movie release so that's that I started on. I didn't know it would be such a short ride. However, they have been helping me catch up on Luke Cage so that's what I'm reading this summer :-). The odd thing is, I've only seen 2 kids in here. Ever time I go in, there are nothing but full grown adults looking for their own literary magic. IDK if they don't have kids or if they just said ... them kids. It's a great place for me time.

This was my second visit to MahoganyBooks at National Harbor, and it reminded me why I enjoy…read moresupporting this bookstore so much. I initially stopped by to pick up the latest release from one of my favorite authors, but somehow left with two books instead. (Book lovers will understand!) I was warmly greeted when I arrived, and the welcoming atmosphere immediately made me want to linger and browse. What I appreciate most about MahoganyBooks is that it does much more than sell books. The bookstore is intentional about creating space for authors of color to be seen, celebrated, and supported. From book signings and author events to community activities and wellness-focused gatherings, it's clear that they're building community through literature and culture. After browsing the shelves, I visited the small café inside the bookstore for a smoothie before taking my new books down to the waterfront. Finding a bench by the water and reading a few pages while enjoying the beautiful views of National Harbor was the perfect way to spend the afternoon. Between the thoughtfully curated book selection, welcoming atmosphere, café, and beautiful waterfront location, the experience feels like much more than a trip to a bookstore.

If you're a member of a sorority or fraternity, they sell merchandise here and had a good selection of all organizations. The staff were nice and I browsed a bit. MahoganyBooks has a huge selection of books for all ages. Everything is from a Black author or related to Black culture. The prices are in line with other bookstores, and you can be proud to support their local and diverse mission when you shop here. As a whole, National Harbor felt planned, corporate, and cold, but MahoganyBooks is the exception to this. If you're in National Harbor for a conference or convention, this is a must-stop and must support business.
