Due to the terrible experience at this enterprise location today I had to miss work along with my fiance. This was a major inconvenience to both of us since the staff refused to help.  My Fiance went in today to pick up a reservation rental vehicle. At the time of pick up, he was informed there would be a $300 deposit fee, which was not even mentioned on the website. When it came down to paying for the rental, he tired using two different credit cards which he has used at other dealerships. Immediately when he tried to pay with them, this unprofessional woman jumped into the conversation and wanted to tell him they can't accept his terms of payment, which I knew was false. She was very rude and condescending, speaking very loudly for other customers to hear our business. Needless to say she is lucky I was not present when she was speaking to him in such an unprofessional manner. I would HIGHLY suggest not doing business with this poor excuse of an establishment!! Mind you this same woman was trash talking about a customer that came in. Who does that at their place of employment? How embarrassing! I will be calling the corporate location in Latham to complain about this woman. Coincidentally when I was on the phone with my Fiance, I heard her speaking about her having an interview with corporate. If this is how she treats customers, she should NOT be working for this company! Hands down this was the worst customer service experience we have endured. As a face of a company, this employee should reguard how she treats paying customers.

The next day, I discovered that one of the tires was underinflated and had a slow leak - so Budget had basically sent me out in an unsafe vehicle. After AAA came and put the spare tire on, I drove back to Albany for a replacement vehicle. Rather than an apology, the Budget reps in the garage offered only a sarcastic laugh when I said I would be asking Budget to waive fuel charges, due to the danger and inconvenience Budget had caused me. Although I returned the replacement car with a full tank, Budget charged me an additional $138 anyway. Apparently, Budget employees don't check the fuel gauge on returned cars, and I didn't have the "time-stamped documentation" their online Customer Service demanded as proof. When I asked them how much my tolling charges were, they said there was nothing in the rental agreement about my enrolling in the toll program, though I had confirmed my enrollment with two on-site Budget employees. (Note: An additional $28.16 charge from Budget later appeared on my credit card, with no explanation or documentation. I assume this was the tolling charge.) The only good thing I can say is that the Budget reps at the counter in the Albany airport were working hard, and patiently, in a very inefficient system. I thank them for their courtesy and good humor, and offer my sympathy for having to work for such a broken company. I will never rent from Budget again.

Let's start with the good: It's aptly named. Definitely the cheapest car rental place out of ALB. I got a pretty new, clean, Nissan Sentra. Unlimited mileage. When I brought it back there were no hidden fees. I paid exactly what I was told it'd be. Now the bad: No counter at the airport itself. You have to wait outside at the taxi stand for the shuttle. This sucks in the winter (though I will say the wait was short and they did drop me right at my airline when I was flying back). The actual office is very cramped. There are desks right next to the counter. The guys were all playing grabass right in front of the customers. Ugh. They didn't walk around the car with me to check it out. They just pointed me in the direction and said where it was. Also it'd be nice to know how to work the radio and where all the controls are and such. The point is you get what you pay for. If you're a cheapskate like me you might not mind this agency. If you want to spend more money on a better agency you'll probably be happier. Also, pay attention to the fin print!

You have to use the courtesy phone to call an extension and then they come and pick you up to take you to an off-site rental place. After being stuck in airports all day, this did not make me happy. Then, paying with a debit card isn't good enough. You also have to provide a major credit card OR proof of your returning flight. I had to get out my laptop and sign into my email to be able to show proof of my return flight to get my car. Again, I was not happy. This was the most inconvenient way of renting a car that I have ever experienced. Next time, I will pay more or get an Uber. Dang it, don't be Thrifty! You deserve better.
