Very very overpriced. I located some used bath towels in the basement bathroom (down very steep stairs). I took a picture of the towels to show the person in charge to give a ballpark quote. I wasn't going to walk up the steep stairs carrying a bunch of towels. She was too busy on her cell phone to look at my picture and insisted that I carry them up so she could feel the texture. Didn't offer to go down and look at them. I'm talking used towels for Pete's sake!! She wouldn't bother to make a sale. Bad customer service. Don't do business with this company. Too many good ones out there that are easy to work with and give great customer service. One positive note on this experience...young people working there...very polite and helpful. read more

Over priced everything. I saw used walmart clothing for more than new retail, different sections of clothing(designer) with prices, and another without (cheap, tags cut off) still quoted ridiculous prices. The ladies working were very snippy and rude to me. Not everyone at your sales are upper white class, you should respect everyone. One * might be high. We visit Many estate sales around the area, and the few that we went to that she had were overpriced and not helpful. She is not willing to negotiate at all on prices. Personally, I think High Retail prices are a hard sell. The stores don't sell them that high. Start low, and go lower each day to get rid of them. These women are so completely arrogant and rude. We went to our first "The Estate Lady" sale this past weekend, and the dismissiveness, condescension and price gouging was ridiculous. I noticed a Patagonia coat priced at $275, and asked if the price was negotiable because the same coat was on eBay in new condition for $95, and the woman not only would not negotiate, but she rudely gaslit me by explaining that it really is going online used for $275, and it was over $500 new (it was not, because I know how to use the internet apparently). There were so many other hugely overpriced items, such as a Burberry coat priced over $700, that is online (again in new condition) for around $300. It was also interesting when we were met with hoards of jewelry set up under glass like an actual jewelry store when we walked in, and I've since learned that wasn't even part of the estate, and that this woman brings merchandise in from her vintage shop and pretends it's part of the estate. Who knows what inside that house was actually part of the estate. This woman could be planting her merchandise all over the house for all we know. Nonetheless, its a completely unethical business model, and the way this woman defends and attacks all the low reviews out here is crazy too. Just stay away. I never leave bad reviews but felt compelled to share our experience because we have never been treated like this before. We met with Joy at our mother's home to discuss using her services. Despite being late for our initial meeting, we were understanding and kind. She was pleasant. We discussed the process and fees. She said it was 60/40 but then left us a contract to sign that was 50/50. She said to scratch it out and put 40% and send it to her. We signed it within 2 days. We tried to get a hold of her numerous times asking for an email to scan the contract to her. We finally received a call back and she said her refer was leaking and that she would call us the next day. NO call. Days passed and she did finally call and say sometime in May would work. We have left her many messages/texts asking details about where to send the contract, what day she will be starting with zero communication back. SO UNPROFESSIONAL! It takes 5 seconds to draft a text giving us an email or an explanation of why she isn't communicating. We asked her to just let us know if she doesn't want to work with us so that we can go somewhere else. NO RESPONSE! We are so confused??? I can't imagine any business owner thinking this is a good way to run a business and we absolutely will not be using her in the future. Would advise anyone who purchases from it to inspect whatever item you're interested in very well prior to purchase, especially in outdoor lighting. As a frequent attendee of estate sales in the area, I can say with confidence that "The Estate Lady" is a rip off. I mean, look at her logo art. Bargain bin Cruella DeVille. She wants to sell you things at worse costs than eBay or resellers. (For reference, she wanted $50 for a chocolate mould that was selling on eBay for $20. I went to an estate sale a few streets over from where I live this weekend. I first went on Friday and my husband and I found the prices to be laughably ridiculous so we left without a purchase. I went back an hour before they closed the entire sale down on Sunday out of curiosity to see if they had lowered the prices or sold any items. I can honestly say that about 90% of the items still remained because the prices were so DAMN high. They were at or above retail!!! Who does that? This is not the reason for my horrible review however. As I walked to the living room where they estate sale company owner (blonde insufferable woman) was sitting by the jewelry cases I couldn't help but overhear her conversation. She was talking to to an elderly couple who were inquiring about her services (I really hope they don't hire her) and she was talking BADLY about the neighborhood! She specifically said that she usually sells more items and had hoped to sell more at this particular sale but it was just the "demographic" of the neighborhood isn't what she is accustomed to. THE Nerve of this woman. I kick myself that I didn't tell her off right there. I was so mad that I walked out. Not surprised that her awful company has terrible yelp reviews from many many people. Newsflash lady: nobody, rich or poor likes to pay full price for used junk. Also don't talk poorly about a neighborhood you are still working in. At interview with Joy was happy to do our sale. She was at 40% of sale VS 50% like other Co. As sale started, too many consignment items which were in competition with our items. Lamps, pictures, dinnerware. Two big jewelry show cases, where she and staff stayed around most all the time. We might of had theft from bed rm windows found unlocked and some items never listed as sold. Wanted approx dollar amount of sale after first wk-end, but no, because of her jewelry sales. REALLY. Many big items not priced, and customers were overheard saying too over priced sale. Guess she planned on all those sales to come back at last wk-end at 50% off. She over promised a price on leather furniture set, lazyboy. pretty much gave away. One pc not listed as sold. Lastly, the end of sale lists of sold items by rm, liked that, and dollar wise looked good, but missing numerous things that should of been listed. EXP, 3 saws from garage. Misc items only had dollar amount, not categorized. False advertising of items. I went for 3 separate pieces all Midcentury in style. I was first in line for this sale. All these items were not at the sale. When asked, I was told they were sold already. Then a worker tried to take back what she said by saying "what I meant is that they were stolen." Interesting that all the items in the pictures were all in the sale except the Midcentury ones. Please do better business and if you presale your items, then do not post them or remove them from your listings. We attended their estate sale over the weekend. Their prices were above retail! A couple of examples - a large plastic Santa that sells for $50 brand new, they were asking $295! A hanging shoe organizer that sells for $5 they wanted $24! We saw several people in the home looking but no one was purchasing. I have no idea why someone would hire this company. My mother passed in November 2021 and had a huge home full of high end antiques, collectibles, furniture, linens, clothing, etc. and I was completely overwhelmed, especially when my husband became very ill in February and passed away in May. I have been to many of Joy's sales over the years and knew they were the right company to handle this estate sale so the house could be emptied and sold. Because this was a high end estate sale (not a garage sale) I wanted to ensure we received the best prices for her items, which we did. Joy and crew stepped right up and took over everything. They sorted, inventoried, displayed, advertised and held the sale over two consecutive weekends. Her staging is absolutely beautiful. Given the market right now, I was extremely pleased with the outcome, items that sold and the prices realized. I know people have complained about high prices at her sales, but Joy is a consummate professional, knows the business, knows antiques and has a number of experts in various areas who also help appraise and price items. She handles estate sales, which are NOT garage sales, and the owners expect her to get the best possible prices for their items so I do not personally think pricing was out of line. And, her commission was the lowest I could find, without any additional costs or added fees. Bottom line, I would use her services again without hesitation, and would refer anyone who asked. My mom bought a broom marked for 8 dollars and the woman ringing us up asked her accusingly who told her it was that price as if she was switching stickers and lying. This company held an estate sale in my neighborhood, and they were inconsiderate of neighbors. On the first day, visitors were parking illegally and unsafely, and they failed to put out cones or even comment to buyers who had parked in the middle of the street or blocking driveways. Several near-misses took place. The merchandise was oddly priced, and when I made an offer on an item, Joy acted insulted and said "goodbye" to me prior to me turning to leave (it's not my fault if she has overpriced an item - I'm willing to pay its value, not more! Others clearly felt the same way, as it was still sitting there 30 minutes before closing on the last day of the sale). Her employee then called after me: "We take Visa also," insinuating that I was making an offer based on what I could afford rather than on the item's value. This estate liquidation company charges outrageous prices for their items. An example is a used french press coffee maker was marked at a higher price than I could buy one at the store. A pack of binder paper for more than it costs at a store. And countless other items marked way up. These were not antiques or collectibles! Do they not shop in stores? Zero stars for this business. We used them to help with our Grandmother's estate and it was truly a terrible experience. Initially, they come across as very helpful, but once the contract was signed and the keys were handed over, they disappeared. We couldn't even get a return call to find out when the sale would be. There was no follow-up call after the sale either. We had to say in our messages that our lawyers would be calling before we heard back. When phone calls were finally returned, they acted like we were bothering them. The biggest problem was the inventory list we received after the sale. It was very, very high level. Many things were missing and we were told they were put under misc. and sold for a very low price. Many items remained unaccounted for. I would not recommend this business to anyone. We were never provided a complete inventory (as originally told), numerous items were completely ommitted and remain unaccounted for. In additon, items were removed from the estate without our knowledge and listed for sale in owner's antique shop. They chalked it up to "accounting errors". Property was also brought into the estate and sold without our consent.. Personal effects were sold without our consent. The list could go on ... We arrived at sale 20 minutes prior to the 9am opening on last day of sale. They opened at 9:06am. We asked if they were selling 1/2 price (as usual at last day sales) we were told the owner Joy wasn't going to be there for 30 minutes so make a pile of what you want to buy and when Joy arrived she would let us know if the prices were half off or not. Someone at the sale heard my conversation and commented "Joy is always late." Needless to say we left buying nothing from this beautiful estate. Too bad the employees she has working for her had no power to make sales decisions in her absence. We are 20+ years dealers, this was our first and last estate sale with this unprofessional company. As an avid estate sell goer I will never attend one of these estate sales again! The prices are outrageous and full blown retail. They opened late and the lady who runs everything Joy was 15 minutes late and she's the only one that prices items! I asked how much antique books were and she rudely replied "is there a price on them?" Obviously not or I wouldn't be asking! She then completely ignored me and was too busy setting up her little jewelry stand and conversating with others. I walked out and she didn't even notice. I gave one star which is one too many. This woman is a piece of work. Good sales presentation, and she produced some bucks. But her communications skills leave a lot to be desired. Took her two months to respond to my questions after the sale. Requested donation receipt for tax purposes which took two months to deliver. Couldn't remember where they donated the merchandise that didn't sell. For someone who has been in business for decades, she is not very professional. She did not anticipate issues, she did not follow our directions. After reading other reviews I have some grave concerns about her process.
