This has to be the most expensive estate sale company in town. I was appalled! $6 for 1 placemat! Seriously, the half price day was still way too high. I'm guessing they have a "not sold" contingency that helps the bottom line. Don't bother, unless you're willing to pay Chairish.com prices at an estate sale. The items I wanted, I was sure, couldn't really be $6 each for a placemat. Additionally they weren't intact, but were unique. I decided, if that was the case, at half off it's about what I might pay at a normal estate sale. I asked the person taking money in the garage if $6 was the price per mat even with flaws. She discounted to $5 then half off which still falls above your previous claim. It was eye opening to see the level of price gouging. I had been told "Burns is the most expensive in town, which is why they get the high-end (greediest) clients" So, say what you want, I came, I saw, I reported. Looks to me like you are trying to rationalize something away that you know to be true. I repeat, I won't be back and I would discourage anyone else from attending your sales. ATTENTION SHOPPERS: I have attended two estate sales hosted by Burns Estate, and both times the experience was the same -- overpriced items and zero flexibility. Estate sales exist for a reason: families need to move belongings quickly, and shoppers come hoping to find fair deals on second-hand goods. Burns Estate seems to have missed that memo entirely. They price everything as if they're running an eBay storefront, not a local sale. On my most recent visit, my son found three small Brio train parts on the last day of the sale -- pieces so small and unremarkable that every single person who had walked through that weekend had passed right over them. These were just forgotten little pieces that fit in a child's palm. We were quoted $3. I politely asked if she could do $2. One dollar less. Instead of just being reasonable, the staff member pulled out her phone, searched eBay, and pointed to a $13 listing to justify the price. Items on eBay are cleaned up, photographed, and shipped with care -- these were tossed in a pile all weekend with no takers. And here's the thing, we paid the $3. But my son's excitement of finding something he loved (trains) was completely ruined by the interaction. This was never about the money. It was about being treated like we were trying to steal something, over one dollar, for items nobody else even wanted. A little grace and kindness would have cost her nothing. Instead we got a cold eBay price check in front of a child. Two visits, same experience. This is not a fluke -- it's how they operate. If you're bringing kids, save yourself the frustration. The items were nice but overpriced. Many clothes had holes/stains on them and were priced at $10-$50. Also while looking through the clothes I was being followed by one older women. I went to another room and she followed me there as well. I felt very uncomfortable. Please tell your staff to be mindful of following people it is unprofessional. read more

Here's the short version - If you and or your family find yourself in need of an Estate Liquidator, don't waste your time interviewing anyone else but Susanna Burns. She and her team are professional, they know how to set up an Estate sale to make it appealing to your eye, they market well, they know how to price, and they do what they say they will do within the timeframes given. We could not have been happier with the job they did for us. Long version - After my mother passed away, we were faced with the daunting task of cleaning out her house and preparing it for sale. We began by obtaining a dumpster and disposing of many, many, items that we deemed to have no value and be worthless. MISTAKE. Susanna could have sold much of what we disposed of and probably saved us some on the dump fees. I was amazed at what people will buy. When we interviewed Susanna she arrived on time, was dressed professionally, and came prepared with her insurance certificate, business license, a bond, and references. She explained the whole process to us (from discovering what is in the house all the way through final cleanup). After we selected her team, we discussed timing of the process and the sale. She had some very smart insight about timing, in that the sale should be long enough past Christmas that people feel like they have some spending money in their pocket again. Once they got to work, her associate Eddie took the lead is setting up the sale. They grouped items intelligently, attractively, and appropriately. Their staging of items conveys to buyers that the sale is professionally run. They priced everything in the sale, even brought in an outsider to value the art that my mother had collected over the years (sadly none were Rembrandts ). Once the sale was complete, they disposed of everything that had not sold (as they said they would), and turned over an empty vacuumed house ready to start the real estate sale process. Throughout the process Susanna and Eddie kept us informed and apprised of the whole process. My siblings and I were very happy with the whole process and the results. Since our sale, I have had the opportunity to attend estate sales put on by other companies. Dare I say they don't come close to representing an estate the way Susanna and her team do. Like I said at the beginning, don't waste your time interviewing anyone other than Burns Estate Liquidators. You will end up hiring BEL anyways. read more

Just left the Wilton Estate Sale. Made a sale with the owner for 4 LP albums for 1.00 each. 5 minuyes later he findes me and says he mis spoke .. they are 5.00 each. We closed that sale at 1.00 each! The hinorable thing to do would have been to advise me all albums are 5.00 each, but I will honor our deal for 1.00 each. Nothing was priced. The older gentleman had to run to the lady inside for pricing. Completely disorganized, unprofessional and not honorable people. Shameful. read more

After my sister's death, as her executor, I was faced with the daunting task of disposing of all her belongings--furniture, clothes, jewelry, tools, and whatever one can think of, she had it. After doing extensive research and interviewing Susanne, I knew she would be the best person for the job. Susanne is licensed, very professional, well-organized and trustworthy. .....Recently, we started the process of interviewing people for our estate sale. The one who stood out the most, was Susanne Burns. When we sat down to interview her, she was prepared with all of her documentation, which included her being licensed, bonded and many recommendations. After evaluating our house, she stated she would takes us on as a new client. Susanne is very upfront and honest. She's been doing estate sales for over 20+ years and as you get to know her, her expertise comes through. She is willing to work with your needs and even showed up when we had a faulty sensor setting off the burglar alarm. Upon signing her contract, we agreed to a partnership and that everything would now be fifty percent hers. We also agreed to be out of the house for approximately 5 weeks for her to individually research and price each item as well as arrange the house for the sale. At the time, we thought that 5 weeks was a little long and didn't quite understand why she needed all this time. About a week before the sale, Susanne showed us the website she had for the property and how everything was displayed, with a price tag on every item! Susanne has a huge following and guaranteed a lot of traffic and exposure for the sale. During the sale, she strongly recommended that we did not come by and just let her and her staff do their thing. We put our complete trust in them. We were updated after each day with sales totals. A few days after the three day estate sale, we met with Susanne at the house. As she had stated previously, she verified that the house would be emptied within that week, with all remaining items to be donated to charity and if anything else was left, hauled off in a dumpster. She presented us with a check of the profits and all of the receipts form ever single item sold. Very impressive! Then we were presented with donations slips, and with a breakdown of all the items to be donated. After having a bad experience with an estate sale in the past, I was a little unsure on how this experience was going to turn out. All I can say is to let Susanne take over and do what she does best and you will be very happy with her results! For the first time in over 10 years, I decided to go and check out some estate sales today. I went to three different sales, and the one held by Burns Estate was head and shoulders above the best. It wasn't only the quality of items available- everything was organized, everything was clearly priced, everything was CLEAN. The prices were fair- and surprisingly comparable to the other 2 lesser sales I went to, where everything was unmarked. I highly suspect the other sellers were sizing me up based on my appearance and pricing high. One of them even tried to "accidently" add an extra $10 in tax to my total. The comparison between the two messy sales vs. Burns extremely professional sales was night and day. I will make a point of attending every Burns estate sale I can, I was that impressed. read more

2.5 stars. Stopped by a sale. They had a sign in sheet and most customers did a good job of staying physically distant. Most staff were wearing face masks. The 2 proprietors, however, were only wearing face shields which are NOT substitutes for masks. Face shields have openings at the bottom and don't restrict the spread of aerosolized droplets. They were walking all around the venue. Please protect yourselves and your customers by wearing masks. read more

I have been watching YELP for Burns Estate Liquidator this morning because I believed strongly a shopper was going to post something very negative- which I was witness. In fact we were all witnessed and many of us in line discussed this woman's horrible behavior. I had a Birds Eye view to Jennifer's bad behavior. She had a Chanel bag of 4 belts. There were no prices on her belts. When she asked the owner of the liquidation firm for prices Susannah said this is a St John it is $30 and the others are $8 each. This woman argues the entire time- while 15 people are waiting to check out! We were patiently waiting but she clearly was NOT leaving. The owner of the business had no choice but to refuse service. All the signs state unless otherwise marked. Her belt was a designer belt. Jennifer's behavior was atrocious. It was no surprise she had the nerve to write a negative review. She was entitled. To claim this business is awful is a joke! Im a regular shopper and Burns Estate Liquidator and their staff caters to all. It is the best liquidator in town. They are honest and full of transparency. Jennifer was an entitled brat and threw a fit because she did not want to pay the fair price. It maybe her first review, but I can guarantee she has behaved poorly before. Update to my review based on Susanne's poor, distasteful way of attempting to slander my character when she was racially profiling me: Let's talk about how you treated the only African American man that morning who was interested in the dishes. You raised your voice when he tried to pick one up and "no, you're not going to pick them up. You're leaving them here and if you buy them, I'll wrap them here." Is that how you talk to all of your minority customers? Like they're children? Several of us looked at you while you were raising your voice, and I did not want to believe it was racially motivated until it happened to me too. You checked my bag in line, you implied I changed the price of an item I was purchasing...and I was the only brown woman in your estate sale. You were WORKING in MY NEIGHBORHOOD...yet you racially profiled ME. Also if you're going to attempt to tell the story, Be honest - I never once disagreed to paying for the belt. I said you changed the price - which YOU DID in front of many people - but yet I said I would still pay it. In fact, those were my words when you grabbed all of my things and cancelled the sale - because I called you out. You made your cashier uncomfortable when you barked at her to cancel my order and grabbed the inventory pad from her hands to aggressively write a slash mark through it. Wow - you really told me with that big ole line you drew! Also, why would your cashier apologize to me if I was as nasty as you claim? I had two customers come up to me in the driveway saying your behavior was distasteful too - while I waited for my white husband to come buy me the items. And then you had the audacity to tell him that you believe I changed the price and my attitude was poor? Ma'am, we've been married for more than a decade. He knows his wife is honest, easy going, and fair. He knows. But you can add that to list of your classless acts for the day (all before noon!). I honestly was having a wonderful morning - even speaking with the women who work for you. I helped the woman at the door. I joked and laughed with the woman in the jewelry room. All was well before you came into the equation. I'm not the first review to talk about your poor behavior either. That should be concerning for any potential client. If you are as organized as you claim, you will see on your inventory list what you priced the belt at. I don't need $12 (since we still paid the price you changed it to). I don't even need another soul to know the truth. I just hope when you check that list (if you even keep one) you'll see that you racially profiled a brown customer who WAS TELLING THE TRUTH. Also, here's a little customer service 101: Try to empathize with any disgruntled customer, especially publicly - like on yelp. Gaslighting is not very becoming. I have never been treated more disrespectful than by the owner of this business. The owner's name is Susannah. Not only did she change the price of a belt on me while I was being charged, she DENIED that she did. She took the belt from me, removed the price and created a new one at the register. The difference was $12 - which is nothing - but it was absolutely the principle. When I said that was ridiculous, she took everything from my hands and told me to leave. This was in front of 20 people. Not only was this humiliating, I wholeheartedly believe it had a racial motive. I sent my CAUCASIAN husband in to purchase my items and apparently she increased the price on another item! Honestly, it's sad we have people in this world spreading this kind of disrespect and discrimination (a word I do NOT use lightly). As an avid estate sale shopper, I realize business will still come as soon as a sign is propped up on the street, but if you are a family member looking to liquidate your estate, I would highly suggest finding another liquidator. There are so many nice, beautiful companies locally. Many of them remember their customers names and past purchases! I wouldn't want Susannah representing my family during such a delicate season.
