I never thought that after leaving Michigan and my family doctor of 20 years that I would ever find another office that I would love and feel comfortable with. I had made an appointment on the recommendation of a friend, at the West side office. I was skeptical and not expecting much as my previous doctor in Frankfort was nothing to write home about. First thing that impressed me was that I was able to get an appointment quickly as a new patient, my former office took over 3 months to get in. I did not know any of the providers so they scheduled me with Virginia Morris, a nurse practitioner. Check in is quite efficient as they use individual tablets to gather your information. The waiting area is quite clean and bright, the office staff friendly. I was very nervous as I was experiencing some pretty horrible issues due to leaving a pain management office. Virginia's nurse Brittany came in the room and took all my information, she was so pleasant and made me feel right at ease. When Virginia came in I immediately knew I was going to like her. She listened to everything I described and never once judged me, even though she had just met me. She immediately did what she could in her power to help me, which in today's day and age is not easy. She ran some blood work, etc and made some recommendations. I had not been feeling good for over 10 months and my previous doctor never bothered to look into what was causing it. She immediately checked for diabetes and it came back that I was diabetic with a very high A1C level. After a few days being on medication I already started feeling better. She is so thorough and explains everything, never wanting you to have any unanswered questions. She has a sweet and gentle personality that immediately makes you feel at ease, I just love her. She has gotten me on track and I am doing well. She even was able to refer me to a proper pain management office that could help with my chronic pain. I also love their phlebotomist, he is so good, I never feel anything when he draws blood. The only negative is they are very strict on their billing practices and do not work with you if you do not have your copay, it's like it's more about money than the patient, but this has nothing to do with her at all. I just keep a close tab on my charges and don't let anything slip thru. read more

I had been a patient at Capital Family Medical Group West in Frankfort, KY since 2005. It used to be that I felt well- cared for and that my doctor was invested in my healthcare. NOT ANYMORE!! It has become so hard to get in with a doctor or even a ARNP or PA at Capital Family West that they are no longer focusing on patient care, but instead they are doing Band-aid medicine. It can take up to 3 weeks to get an appointment yet if you are 10 minutes late, they cancel you! There is no way to see your "primary care physician" if you get sick unless you can wait 3 weeks! Who can do that?! They overbook the doctors so they cannot spend more than 10 minutes with you. How can they provide adequate care in 10 minutes?! How can they follow someone's medical status in 10 minutes. In a world where so much is directed through your "family doctor" this medical practice cannot know or even care about their patients! They do not return phone calls and frankly do not care about whatever is going on with their patients. It is obvious with the unreturned calls and inability to work in a sick patient. This forces people to urgent care or the ER, which results in someone who has no clue to a patient's medical history trying to provide care. If you have a complex medical history then that can turn out badly. To me, when a doctors' office practices in this way, they care more about the money they bring in than their patients.
