Will never be leasing or purchasing from here again. The maintenance team first told my wife to reschedule her oil change because it was only at 50%. When scheduling when the oil light comes on at roughly 20%, she was told that she now has to pay to cover the oil change because of the lease. Of course, no one on their team "remembers" telling her to reschedule when the oil life was 20%. Before going in for her oil change, that she now had to pay for, her tire pressure was low. While inflating the tire at home, I noticed there was a nail in the tire and told her to inform the maintenance crew during her oil change. AS THEY ROTATED THE TIRES AND FILLED WITH AIR! their maintenance crew told my wife that there was no nail, and the pressure difference was due to the weather change. The nail is EASILY viewable and directly above the air valve. It had to be either incompetence or negligence that their crew did not notice the obvious nail in the tire. Now going in AGAIN to address the nail in the tire. The crew says that the tire is damaged and needs to be replaced, however they can't just replace one tire they will need to replace all 4. This place has completely lost our trust, and I no longer feel comfortable when my wife needs to take her car in for service without me there. If I could give a zero, I would. I wanted to work with a local dealership but it was a terrible experience over multiple attempts. I have almost never left a review, but my experience was consistently terrible over three different instances, and so I had to leave a review. First experience: I was there at Capital Honda a few months back looking for a car, and worked with Nicole Lutz. She was extremely rude and kept giving me incomplete information (in some cases, straight-up wrong information). She unnecessarily insulted other dealerships and said they (Honda) didn't have to try that hard cos the cars are so good!! Who the heck speaks like that??!! I will say, in her defence, that she were able to get a car I was interested in (that was easily available at other dealerships, so it wasn't rare), but I just felt like I couldn't trust the person. Each time I talked to her, she would reveal some new piece of information only when I asked specific questions (questions that were reasonable and that any owner would be interested in, surely). I found the whole experience extremely frustrating. And at each turn I felt like I was getting forced into a deal without going through the facts. Maybe, the facts are obvious to a salesperson, but to someone shelling out money, they are not always obvious. It is ultimately the salesperson's responsibility to be sincere and transparent, and I definitely didn't get that feeling from this experience. At some point, I got fed up and worked with another dealership, and was able to buy a great car without any of the same hassles. Second experience: A few months later, I went back looking for a second new car, and specifically asked for a new salesperson (I figured maybe it was just Nicole who was bad, and not the dealership. Mistake!). This time I got Ben Merkle, and I clearly told him I was interested in a specifc car that they had and wanted to confirm the purchase the next morning. They sold the car overnight, which is fair (that's just business, I guess). However, they still brought me in to the dealership to sign the paperwork for the car as if nothing happened, and after 5-10 minutes of conversation, told me that the car was sold the previous day! There was not even an apology, until much later when I told them that "I would have appreciated a phone call so I didn't have to come in and waste my day". What the heck! And Ben told me that the system didn't give him a warning about it so he wasn't able to tell me (though clearly, when he showed me the system, it clearly recorded the sale, and Ben simply didn't bother to check before calling me in. So, it was his failure and he was not acknowledging it.) and he told me he will look for another car with their partner dealers. We agreed on the price. Later, in a separate phone call, I was honest in letting him know that I was talking to other dealerships because they weren't able to locate a car with partner dealers while I was waiting at the dealership earlier in the day, and he gave me a 5-8 minute breathless lecture on trust! The same person who told me that it was fair to sell the car that I was interested in because we hadn't signed a contract, and didn't bother to apologise for bringing me in anyway (!!) was lecturing me about how I shouldn't go to other dealerships because that would be a violation of trust. You can't have it both ways, sorry! If you think it is just business to sell cars cos the customer hasn't signed the dotted line even though they have expressed every interest in buying it, then it is just business for the customer to look at multiple dealerships while you are trying to locate a new car. I found the whole interaction so unprofessional and ridiculous. (Note: when I reached out to another delaership, they were able to locate another dealer who had it in less than 5 minutes!) Third experience: The final straw was a terrible service call interaction (can't remember the name). The service guy wanted some sort of mediated conversation with the fiscal officer for a simple question, and I just wanted them to get back to me with a "yes or a no" through a message when they had the time. For some reason, the guy was not following it despite me repeating it in a few ways. It is like he wanted me to talk to the fiscal officer for some reason. He kept saying he will set up a mediated call, when I just wanted a message back. He proceeded to lecture me for no reason on how everyone is busy and it would be rude to interrupt them. I didn't ask for anyone to be interrupted. I have dealt with many dealerships, and have found most people to be kind, honest and sincere. But, this place seems to specialise in terrible salesfolk and service folk. If you want unnecessary hypocritical lectures from randos, or want to waste your time, then this is a great dealership for you! Otherwise, please avoid it. There are much better dealerships out there, who have much more professional and kind people, not jerks. read more

I have never had an issue with a Honda dealership until now, my father visited this dealership and it has been a mess. Questions can never be answered accurately and it seems like they just don't want to do their job. He went in for a recall and the windshield fluid was not topped off, he mentioned another issue regarding some noise in the A/C and it was disregarded. And the most concerning issue some lid or something that had to be screwed on underneath the vehicle (I do not know what it is called) was not screwed on correctly and now mid-drive to another state on the highway those screws fell off and the lid is barely hanging on. This is beyond unacceptable and mediocre work at most. I expected more from a supposedly reputable dealership. Do better and hire people that are actually willing to do their job CORRECTLY. read more

BEWARE: Had warning lights on my CRV, preferred mechanic was booked for a couple days. Took my CRV here and on top of the work they said was needed to fix the warning lights, they told me I needed $1000 plus worth of work for "worn front shocks and struts" which are LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. Pretty sure I got screwed on the repair bill as well. Had a sub-par experience here before also, something was not tightened right and had to take it back because fluid was leaking. I wish I could leave a zero star review. My mom came here to get her oil changed and asked them to check the tire pressure. When she checked out, they let her know that they did what was asked. She asked them which tires were low and the advisor said they were all low. When she got home, the tire pressure light was still on. She checked her tires and sure enough, they were all still low. One of the tires was even at 20 psi. Absolutely ridiculous. She obviously had to refill them herself, and while doing so she noticed that oil was leaking on the ground. We had to take it back to the dealership for them to recheck. For reference, we own 4 Hondas and will no longer be customers at this dealership. I highly recommend Lee Stevenson for his exceptional customer service. He knows his customers by name and works diligently to make them happy. I brought my Honda in after an incident, and Lee was super attentive, I had filed a claim with my auto insurance and Lee took the initiative and worked with my insurance to settle the issue. He talked directly with the adjuster and made sure everything ran smoothly. He did all of this without hesitation. He maintained a constant line of communication with my insurance as well as myself. He went above and beyond to make sure things were made perfect. Not only did he do all of that, he made sure the adjuster documented all the issues that the adjuster initially missed. He followed up with the adjuster and had an amendment made with my insurance company once he saw the adjuster had made a mistake, this was way more than I ever would have expected and it was a huge relief! You really can't go wrong with this place, and Lee is the best, he will continue to have my business and I will go no where else. This is what true customer service and care looks like. READ THIS before you do your maintenance at Capital Honda. I had a 2004 Honda Accord, which was regularly maintained at Capital Honda. I have a whole stack of receipts from them. On April 1, 2016, I replaced right front upper control arm, including right front upper ball joint. On Saturday, 5/14, the right front wheel fell off due to the failure of right front lower ball joint. The roadside assistance said so and Capital Honda said so. I could have been dead if the wheel falls off while driving on a highway. Okay, I accept the fact that the lower ball joint is not replaced by Capital Honda, but CAPITAL HONDA DID NOT FIND OUT THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT IS FAILING DURING ALL THOSE REGULAR MAINTENANCES, INCLUDING THE ONE THEY REPLACE THE RIGHT FRONT UPPER BALL JOINT! Capital Honda offered me 50% off for replacing the right front lower ball joint, which is like $800 total and I saved $400. How nice! The passenger side door won't open and I have to spend another thousand (or more) to fix it. I was leaving the area on next Wednesday and I was in the middle of moving. I had only two days to deal with this car and the car is immobile. I had no choice but selling the car to Capital Honda with a ridiculous low price. I lose more than $3000 for this failure, but luckily I kept my life. The car itself is pretty awesome and Jake Russell is a very nice guy, but beware of the quality of their maintenance. read more

I took my 2017 Honda in because I was informed it need a software update. I was then told the car needed a new transmission, which Honda would provide at no cost. Two weeks later, I was told the car did not, after all, need a new transmission and that it had been cleared by the Honda mechanic, who is apparently not on site. Ten days later, the transmission died in the middle of the road. I fear to think what would have happened if I had been on the highway. I had it towed back to Honda. They gave me a loaner and replaced the transmission. A few months later, I took the car in for an inspection at another mechanic. The bolt on the steering wheel was loose, a consequence of a shoddy installation of the transmission. I would not trust this dealer. read more

Stepped out of the car, looked at the first guy, he got up and left. I then approached the next rep, she wouldn't make eye contact and when I got close to her desk, she gets up and says "Got the keys in the car?", no greeting, nothing. I thought, maybe they're having a bad day. But then when a white woman was getting back in her car, the rep interrupted my paperwork and got up, opened the door for her, and "here you go ma'am" she says, with a big smile, "thank you"! I have a back pain and he gave me all the time to pick out the most comfortable seat for my back. 2018 Honda CR-V has the most comfortable seats, period. I test drove the Odyssey, Pilot, none came close. In the end they gave me a price that's lower than the Costco Auto Program which refereed me to Ann Arbor Honda. I moved here recently and was looking into buying a Honda. So, I did what all people eventually do. I went down to the dealership to take one for a test drive. I found Capital Honda via Google maps and drove down after work on one of the days they stay open late. When I got there it wasn't that busy, but I stood around for 20minutes without anyone so much as saying hello. This wouldn't upset me that much if the place was busy, but let me say it again it wasn't busy. Most of the sales people were just sitting at their desks alone. To finish off my experience, a young woman walked in the door and the sales people jumped up to get to her. Needless to say I left. [Now, you would think that maybe I didn't look like I was there to buy, but this is not the case as I was dressed in relatively nice (Banana Republic) business casual attire.] All I can say is the people working there really don't want to sell cars. We continue to have problems with Capitol Honda. My husband recently needed a small part (I think the washer fluid nozzle) replaced on his CR-V. There was some back and forth about them ordering the part, not having ordered the part, oh wait now we have it, etc. EVERY TIME they needed to get in touch with him, they called me instead. EVERY TIME, I told them, "This is not his number. Please call him at [number]. Please make the change in your database, because I'm getting tired of this." And again, EVERY TIME, they'd call me again at MY number. The real kicker was when their quality control guy called MY NUMBER to find out why we were unhappy with them. I've only dealt with the service department, but the experience has been less than desirable. They try - they really do. The over-zealously greet you (well some of the service personnel do, others seem to be annoyed that you are there), and offer you coffee, donuts, or popcorn in the lobby while you wait. I figured it out - they need to feed you because you'll be sitting there forever! I've had one service manager who was very helpful and kept me apprised of the of my vehicle, but it doesn't make up for the other ones I've had to deal with. I don't remember the guy's name, but he was extremely rude because I declined to have an oil change on a recent visit to repair a Honda recall. I told him that per my owners manual, I can go for 6k-7k miles between oil changes. He scoffed and treated me rudely. I now avoid going here for service because I do not want to deal with this particular service manager again - it really rubbed me the wrong way. I don't appreciate being patronized. On the Pro side, they wash your car (and claim they will wash it anytime you bring it in for free) and provide you with a free road-side assistance card. read more

He was happy to show us a Fit, even though I was dressed poorly, and they only had one Fit on the lot, and it was already sold. Even took us out for a test drive, which was really cool. We came back a couple of times and eventually bought a Fit. Very happy with the sales side. But I have bought parts there, and they are outrageous, even for dealership prices. An oil filter cost $8! We bought our Honda Odyssey a little over 2 yrs ago, and we absolutely love it. Is so roomy and comfortable and the ride is very smooth. It's great on gas and people are comfortable even in the third seat and we still have trunk space to spare. We also appreciate greatly the service department, Jake has been so helpful to us. This dealership is need of honest service personnel. I was told i needed a head gasket at $1800, spark plugs at $116 (I bought the OEM set for $11.89 elsewhere and installed in less than 15 min). They charged me over $250 for front brake pads. I was charged $65 for shop materials and disposal (shop towels and throwing the old part in the trash). So I took my car to Tamaroff Honda and Honda of Grand Blanc for diagnosis. Nope, you don't need a head gasket. You need a thermostat. $34. I don't know about the sales personnel, but the service department is a pack of liars and thieves. Stay away. read more

By far the worst car buying experience of my life. I've bought cars both new and used from around 10 different places over the years and have never had the problems I did with Capitol Honda with any other dealership. The sales person was not knowledgeable and the store manager did not do anything to help with the experience. If I had not already known exactly what I wanted when I walked in I would have never went through the 6 hours of tourture to get my Accord. Then there is the service department. I was having an issue with my tires blowing out after 10k miles and when I went they basically told me that the rear camber was messed up and causing this but since it was still within spec they wouldn't do anything about it. So I went to Belle Tire and they fixed it for me and got me a good deal on 4 new tires. I would never recommend Capital Honda to anyone. Drive to Jackson or Grand Rapids if you want a Honda but avoid these shady guys at all cost. read more

This is not the place to buy a car. I regret coming here. My partner and I wanted to buy a brand new Honda Accord. It is our first car. We were told a finance option was not possible for this model and was offered a different model with additional costs to match the features we loved about the Accord. The added price did come to the same price of the Accord. Things got very very fishy. I still remember my partner hanging on to his ID whilst the salesman was tugging at it..it did look a bit like tug n war. It was a very uncomfortable moment, before that sinking feeling set in that something was not right here so we walked out. We called a couple of other Honda dealership and they told that a finance option is available for the Honda Accord. After telling them about our experience they offered us better deals with some below the MSRP. We knew instantly we were being cheated. This dealership had an overstock on the other models and were trying to sell as many as they could. We then called back the sales person at Capitol Honda, and he changed and said that it was and if that is the car we wanted had a finance option. Guys, seriously RUN AWAY from here. Service Technicians need more education. I took my 2014 CRV in for a clunking noise in the front. After 3 Mechanics looked at it they collectively decided it was the steering gearbox which would've cost me $2900. I ended up taking it to another repair shop and they found it was really the sway bar linkage which only cost me $150. read more

Now that I have moved to California, I am discovering all the improper work that was done on my and my wife's Accords by Capitol Honda Service. First let me say that Capitol Honda's sales staff are 5 star and top notch. We bought my wife's Honda Accord there and got not only a fair deal, but the sales staff never tried to scam us. Kudos to the sales staff. Now, ever since Capitol Honda has moved to Jolly road, I have had lots of problems with the service department. In 2006, my ball joints were squeaking so the service department replaced them under warranty and said that it was a know problem with a certain run of ball joints. No problem, didn't cost a dime and was on my way 2 h later. Then in 2007, about 14-15 months later, again the ball joints failed. I mentioned that this was highly unusual for this to happen, but nope, the warranty on the replacement was 12 months and so I had to pay $350 or so for new ones. After replacing them, the service tech mentioned that it looked like the joints were never replaced 14 months ago (due to the corrosion level) and still looked like an OEM install. What a rip off!. Of course the car was now out of warranty and they couldn't do anything for me. Later in 2007, it was time for new brakes, so I order up a new set of rotors, pads and the works. Just under $600 total. In 2008 I moved to California and noticed the brakes were pulsating, so I took them in to to have the rotor machined to balance them out. Keep in mind, this is 12 months and 4500 miles after the brake job. Guess what, after the tech takes off the wheels, he tells me that these are still the OEM brakes, and there is not way these were just done 4500 miles ago. The rotors were 2 mm below minimum thickness and the pads were worn down. Upon further inspection the tech in Cali said it looks like somebody cut off the warning tabs. Again ripped off by Capitol Honda service. Then just to rub salt in everything, I had also done my timing belt also done and at the time it was around $1000 or so. I ended up doing it at Battle Creek Honda instead of Capitol Honda because they were cheaper ($750, closer to the "book" price) and my wife worked there during the day and it worked out better with our schedules. I now remember him saying something about the brakes needing to be done badly but we just dismissed it as them trying to "profit" off of us. Turns out the Battle Creek tech was the honest one! I literally sat in my new mechanics garage here in California dumfounded by what he showed me. I could clearly see where the tab was removed from the brake pad. He shoed me exactly how thin the rotor was and mentioned how unsafe it was at that thickness. He also showed me how the corrosion pattern of the rotor was consistent with having been on my car for 4-5 seasons. He showed me the shop manual estimate of rotor width and wear and said there was simply no way this was replaced 4500 miles ago. My new tech has now gone over our cars with a fine toothed comb to make sure nothing else was done wrong. We also had problems with Capitol Honda and technical service bulletins. My wife's Accord stereo flaked out and there was a TSB on it for the problem, so it should have been replaced for free. Capitol Honda insisted they knew of no such TSB, even when I printed out and showed them my google copy of it. Sure enough, off to Battle Creek Honda and 1h later the head unit was replaced free of charge and they even changed her oil for free for the hassle of not having a radio for a week. TLDR version, stay away from the Capitol Honda service department. I'm not sure why this has happened twice to me, but it is clearly a systemic problem. read more

I was paid exactly the price I was quoted (out-the-door pricing) and this price was at least $600 less than other dealers in the area. I bought 2014 Certified Honda CRV from this dealer. When I took the vehicle for test drive rear breaks were vibrating. Sales rep (Pierre Farrah) told me it was because breaks were wet. I have to take the vehicle to a Honda service center in OH, they replaced pad and re-surfaced rotors. This is within 10 days of buying the vehicle. Looks like this was caused by lot rust. These Capital Honda guys do not respond to emails and I feel I am cheated with wrong information. If you planning to buy vehicle from these guys, looks for some other dealership first and avoid Pierre Farrah. Good luck read more

Dumbass doesn't know we've done our research and it is available for both 2018 and 2019. Plus had pictures from another dealer just 30mins earlier on a different model and we were looking for 2019. When I first moved here, I had trouble finding a place to take my trusty Honda Accord. I was lucky enough to have a great dealership (Norm Reeves in Colima, California) take care of me in the past, and honestly - Capital Honda didn't have great reviews back then. Anyway, long story short, I took the plunge and scheduled an appointment because I had shopped around and hadn't found a better alternative. Jacob is great, Capital Honda works pretty quickly, and the service upselling (expected pretty much anywhere) is quite reasonable and refreshingly minimal. I've had no problem with communication with their people. The environment is clean and safe. I don't know much about what happened there in the past, but I've never had a problem in any of my visits (about 3 or 4 now). I would recommend them to any of my friends/family. read more
