Chris at Capital Hond is the best! Every time I have a concern about my Honda I call him up and he makes sure to take care of it right way. Keep in mind I drive a Honda, so usually it's only minor stuff, like an oil change or the occasional flat tire. I own two 2008 Hondas and haven't had a major repair on either of them. I'm atypical don't like car dealership or repair shops kind of person, but Chris has been fantastic. Last week I called because I had a flat tire that I was told by a local service person couldn't even try to fix. I called Chris in a panic and he was able to get me in right away. They tried to patch my tire only to find that it wouldn't work, or be safe for me if they could get it to work. I felt much better knowing that they tried everything to make sure I was taken care of, and didn't just try to sell me new tires. Needless to say, I was able to get the tires I needed and felt much better about the whole process. I would recommend to anyone to go see Chris for any of your service needs. We were on a road trip, visiting mid Michigan. We needed an Oil change for our Honda Odyssey. I called the dealership and got in immediately. There was a coupon on the Internet for the oil change. Jake was our service advisor, he was very helpful, friendly and efficient. They got me in and out in about 30 minutes. They have a nice waiting area with free soda and popcorn. I was lied to about the kbb value of a used car here and my ignorance with buying a car was completely taken advantage of.

I leased a car in 2007 and right way the agreed price was not in the final contract. They kept me there until almost 11pm so I just wanted to leave. Then when I bought the car in 2010 the contract guy lied about a $2500 charge which was a warranty I did not want. He refused to let me go without buying it. Seems like he had all the tricks ready: reprinting the contract wrong a few times, talking to this manager to get approval for a $2000 warranty instead of the $2500. I will never buy nor let a relative or friend buy from here. They owe me $4000 worth of lies. Should have taken them to the small claims court or better business bureau. Enjoy the money guys. We bought a used Honda Civic from Al Serra in Grand Blanc. Shortly thereafter, I took it to Capital Honda for service. They recommended over $2000 in repairs with over $1200 of this being for items that were classified as "failed". This included a broken motor mount as well as failed shocks and struts. Since we had just bought it I took it back to Al Serra. They inspected it and cllearly showed me that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the vehicle. Al Serra was courteous and very service oriented. I would recommend them. As for Capital Honda, I explained to them what I discovered and they apologized, but offerred no plausible explanation other than maybe a mistake had been made in writing the service order. I also discovered that service technicians are only paid for work that they recommend and subsequently perform. They are paid a standard hourly rate for the designated repair regardless of how long they take, or if they really do the work. So. no recommended repairs, no work and no pay. Definitely incentive to feather their own bed. I have read similar reviews regarding recommended work that either was never done or wasn't necessary. Service centers have become very skilled at making inspections and identifying and characterizing repairs as necessary. The only way to know for sure if you are not being exploited is to insist on being shown all repairs both before and after the work is done. I know this is not always practical though, so trust in your service department is essential. read more

This dealership sold me an UNSAFE vehicle that failed their own 147-point inspection for me to transport our young family with, and refused to repair what was needed when brought to their attention. Please read on. In September 2014, I purchased a used Toyota 4Runner from Capital Honda that had recently been traded in locally. After negotiating on a fair price, I agreed to purchase the vehicle and picked it up two days later. Upon purchasing the vehicle, I was given a stack of papers including a 147-point inspection performed by Capital Honda. In my haste, I did not review the document as I had already agreed to purchase the vehicle, and had no reason to suspect that a Honda dealer would sell me a vehicle with a failed inspection. 11 months and 13,000 miles later, the vehicle was being serviced for routine maintenance at Spartan Toyota when I was informed that all 4 brakes needed replacing. Confused as I had purchased the vehicle from our local Honda dealer following a thorough inspection, I went back to review the actual 147-point inspection form only to find that the vehicle had indeed FAILED the brake inspection. I called the dealer and explained the situation to my sales agent asking them to make it right and cover the cost for replacing the brake pads. I was told NO. My wife and I have literally spent several thousand dollars in maintenance for our 2001 Honda Civic at this dealer over the past 8 years. When I brought this to the dealer's attention, they still refused to remedy this problem. We live in the neighborhood across from this dealership in Okemos, and I now will travel to Brighton for all further service on our Civic. Any dealer that sells me an UNSAFE vehicle to transport my wife and our two young children in and then refuses to fix the problem deserves to have the public made aware. read more

Jacob Russell is by far the best individual I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with at a car dealership, sales or maintenance, BY FAR. I tend to have a small amount of anxiety ay time I visit a car dealership as I've had poor experiences with unscrupulous sales and maintenance people in the past, but my first visit to Capital Honda was exceptional, all because of how easy, professional and friendly Jake made it for me. My girlfriend highly recommended bringing my 2010 Honda Accord here and specifically had me deal with Jake as she has had exemplary service from him in the past and shares my anxiety with dealing with car dealerships. Normally I'd rather verbally and physically assault myself than visit a car dealership, but I gladly will return to Jake as long as I live in the area and doubt I'll ever find another maintenance man or woman that could possibly compare to him. Do yourself a favor the next time you need your car serviced, call Capital Honda and schedule it with Jake, you will not be disappointed. My wife and I were looking for a new Honda CRV. We also had a trade-in vehicle. We asked what they would give us for our trade-in. Their "Trade-In Specialist" came over and quoted us a price. I immediately stated that I thought their trade-in was much lower than the value of the vehicle based on condition and features. We ended up leaving and decided to drive South to another Honda dealership. The second dealership quoted us $1,000 more than Capital. In the meantime, as I was completing the deal with the second dealership, the salesman from Capital calls me stating that they would give me $1,000 more. I said, "Too late, you guys were given a chance and you blew it!". Needless to say that the dealership to the South has lifelong customers. I have never received worse customer service than at the service department at Capital Honda. I bought my Honda at a Honda dealership in Florida - great experience. I serviced my Honda at a Honda dealership in Alabama - great experience. So, when we moved to Lansing, I went to Capital Honda for minor service. They were unbelievably rude, condescending and down right nasty. They took a simple service need, made it worse by what they did, then tried to sell us nearly $1,000 in work that was obviously unnecessary - all to fix the problem they created. We went to a local garage. They did a simple fix in about 2 minutes and told us there was no charge. We tipped the guy $20. Capital Honda created a problem, told us we needed to leave the car with them for a week and spend nearly $1,000, when the truth was the free fix took less than 5 minutes. I returned to Capital Honda to discuss the miserable customer service we received with the manager. The manager insulted us and yelled at me; and, again, tried to convince me that I needed nearly $1,000 of work done, even though the problem they created was already fixed. If you want to be lied to, charged astronomical amounts of money and then insulted before and after getting horrible work done, go to Capital Honda's service department. If you want to avoid all of these things, go anywhere else. read more

My door handle broke on a lease. They are supposed to cover it. The guy at the service desk told me they don't cover it because it's cold and it was probably frozen. This is not true. My cars runs for 15 minutes before I load my three children in it for morning drop off. All the other doors opened fine and if this was the case, all of the handles should have broke. We then asked what they would have said if it were a hot today, and the guy at Honda replied (i kid you not) , "you must have tried to open it while it was locked!" I'm appalled that they would even say this, not to mention have no problem taking my money, but cannot fix a door handle that I was told was under warranty! Worst dealership I've ever dealt with. I still love Honda, but will buy/lease from a different one, and will let as many people as I know not to do business with this one! read more

I bought a Honda Odyssey ELX (with DVD) from Capital Honda in Jan 2016 for $35K and I had 2 issues: 1. The salesman do not have proper information (eg invoice sheet) on vehicles so they couldn't negotiate effectively. I had to ask for the managers (Sam or Lance). 2. The finance department is not on your side. I found cheaper new car loans at my bank (USAA) and a better extended warranty through Honda (called Honda Care). Capital Honda will push their 7-year 'The Mechanic' VSC (vehicle service contract) with high-pressure sales tactics for $2300, but I went with Honda Care for 8 year/120K miles/$1300 (which you can buy 3 years post-purchase from any reputable Honda dealership or online, I recommend hyannishondacare.com). Plus, it's shady that 'The Mechanic' VSC is owned by the same company that owns the dealership and the dealership won't mentioned all options available to you. In these 2 aspects, I found it disappointing that Capital Honda dealership doesn't focus on putting customers first. Additional Info on Honda Care and 'The Mechanic' VSC: Honda Care Who: A Honda Care Vehicle Service Contract is the closest thing to your original Honda 3 year/36,000 mile Manufacturer's Warranty. I made an appointment to drive from Grand Rapids to Okemos to test-drive a Honda Odyssey, I called the salesman the evening before -- asking him to please let me know if the vehicle sold. The next morning, I checked to make sure the vehicle was still there -- and was assured it was on the lot. So I drove 70 minutes to test-drive the vehicle, only to be told that the van had been sold "after hours" the night before. At 8:30 p.m. The dealership was open until 9 p.m. The salesman on duty (the person I had talked to was not there, or so I was told) did not apologize, but tried to get me to stay and look at other vans in their inventory. Consistently poor service. Took my 2008 Element in two weeks ago for an oil change. As usual when this task is complete by the Capitol Honda Service dept, there is a LARGE diameter puddle of oil on the floor of my garage the following morning. I have been always been told this is due to "excess oil spilling onto the shelf when the filter is replaced" when I call the service dept about the excess oil, nothing we can do about it. Although the Element eventually stops dripping oil, this time it did not. The puddle grew to 14 inches in diameter! Concerned, I got under the Element and noticed the drip was from the oil pan bolt. When I reached up to wipe the bolt clean, it almost fell out! The tech never tightened the bolt back into place! Save yourself some time and get your service elsewhere... you'll be sorry if you don't read more

We bought a used vehicle at this dealership and we understood that we bought the car "as is" and did not pay for any of the warranties offered by the dealer. While we don't regret passing up the warranties, it's disheartening to know that BOTH of our rear shoulder seat belts needed to be replaced and were unusable. Both lap belts were nearly shredded and we were afraid of the belts snapping if there were an emergency. We paid nearly $700 to get new belts from a different dealer since Capital Honda said that there was nothing they could do to help us. The seat belts are a serious safety issue and we were shocked that someone would sell us a vehicle in this condition without disclosing the fact that the seat belts were unusable. We were also told that we would be mailed a coupon for a free car wash. We even called the dealership to follow up and confirm our address, reminding the sales rep that we still did not receive the coupon. It has been over 5 months now and we never received it. On 2/15/14, I returned the Honda Accord I have been leasing, to the Capital Honda dealership. At the time of leasing the vehicle, the dealership had promised to buy back the 'winter package' that includes genuine winter mats for the car (total ~$426 value). When I returned the vehicle, they refused to buy it back, stating that I did not buy or lease another vehicle from them (Capitol Honda). They had given me a paperwork promising to buy the package back. They stated that "the paper implies that I had to purchase or lease another vehicle" from Capitol Honda. The paper does not say anything like that, also, they had not mentioned such requirement at the time of original purchase/lease 3 years ago. DON'T BELIEVE ANYTHING THEY SAY OR EVEN IF THEY PUT IT IN PAPER. THE PINK CONTRACT PAPER IS THE ONLY ONE THAT YOU MAY DO ANYTHING ABOUT. We recently drove approximately 50 mins to look @ a "Honda Certified" used 2010 CRV with 17k+ miles on it...the vehicle had @ least 3 obvious significant scratches on the right front quarter panel/bumper and passenger door which we pointed out to our sales gal before we took it for a test drive..she could not tell us why the vehicle was offered for sale in this condition,,when we returned from test driving the vehicle we were greeted by our sales gal and a gentleman who told us "I can tell you these were not there before something had to have happened to it" we then shared with him the "150 point check" paperwork from his service department with the fore mentioned areas with the scratches matching what we were seeing..he then told us "80% of customers would not even consider this a big deal" and "it would cost me another 2,200$ to try to fix it and it may not work"..it was at this point that we told him if this is the quallity of vehicle he was trying to sell , Capital Honda was not the dealership for us..my husband and I left VERY DISAPPOINTED in Capital Honda and would not recommend this dealership. read more

The Capital Honda Service Department in Okemos has very rude and unprofessional personnel. If they want to protect their image they will be better off getting some people who are professional when dealing with their customers. This week we called to get a routine service done for our Honda CRV, they tried again to slap on a different service plan (their own cooked up routine) more than what is recommended by the manufacturer or other Honda service companies in Michigan. Given that this is their business model, but the problem is the people that work there, unless you get Randy - the only sane person there. The person I spoke to, Chris, was extremely rude and disrespectful over phone as I was not willing to follow their recommended service routine, but wanted to stick by the car manufacturer's recommended service plan. Instead of being helpful, he started questioning the reason why we want to get the car manufacturer recommended service plan. Go somewhere else, I will never recommend this place. Then I called Honda Jackson (extremely nice and professional personnel) and checked the prices for the same Car manufacturer recommended service, on an average when you check a breakdown of the Honda Okemos service charges, they were around 30-40% higher than what the Jackson Honda was offering. DO NOT RECOMMEND CAPITAL HONDA IN OKEMOS !!!! read more
