Don't be scammed like I did. I wish I could give less than 1 star, but not possible. I ordered "designer" mulch from Capital Mulch. After spending over $600 on 20 yards of mulch, I received a truckload of the same mulch I can get for FREE from the local tree guy with dye in it. It is garbage. I tipped them $30 prior, just to find out later that I tipped the owner who pretended not to be the owner. I confronted him that the mulch was not the standard it should be and we walked to neighbor who had true designer mulch. The office told me I should have let the driver, who was also the owner know there was a problem. I did and could not have been more clear to the driver, who pretended I need to call the office. They tried to tell me it was designer because it is dyed, but the other dyed mulches are not called designer. It is a scam. They later threatened to hire a subcontractor to come pick it up. However, they were going to use my money to pick it up. They draw you in with slightly lower pricing and no delivery. I asked them to figure something out and was willing for them to come get it, but not on my dime. The worst part is how they treated me, and then made nasty accusations that I threatened them. Ridiculous! They told me I should use it around back, which is what I would do with free mulch. Do yourself a favor, pay just a bit more and go anywhere else. Steve read more

We ordered mulch and compost that was to be used as overdressing. Mulch was fine but the compost was really their screened product. I was charged for the more expensive compost too. Huge chunks or dirt and large bark chips vs the deep, rich brown compost they advertise. The owner came out and told us it was compost and when I told him our son got splinters, he told me kids shouldn't be outside without shoes. Compost does not give splinters and telling us kids shouldn't go barefoot in their yards is ridiculous at best. We told them we would mow twice as he said that would fix it. Nope. 6+ mowings later and still have mulch in the yard. It also dulled our mower and destroyed its balance - it was a new mower specifically for Bermuda grass. Two stars as mulch was fine but being charged for compost yet having fill dumped all over is realy 0 stars. read more

I called Capital Mulch Company yesterday just before lunch after seeing good reviews here on NextDoor. Before lunch today, their team delivered a full load of wood ships and spread them on paths throughout my garden. Wow! Every part of the experience was great: scheduling, delivery, installation, quality of the wood chips, and cleanup. My garden is wooded and sloped with several paths, but the installation team got it right the first time and without damaging any plants. Highly recommended. read more

I just had 15 cu yards of mulch delivered and spread. The delivery guy was great. He got the mulch into the space we wanted perfectly. Then the 2 spreaders came. They were great as well. It took them a few hours, then they cleaned up and left. Excellent experience. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking to get much delivered and spread. I was not impressed by their honesty. I called a few places to get mulch for a hill. After I inquired about their products and prices I got a call back from them letting me know that they had an erosion control mulch that would be good for my project. I asked if there was anything different about. The lady on the phone started to say "You might see" and she stopped. Her boss must have been listening and she said that he told her that there was nothing inside the mulch. I inquired again to make sure that I was not being lied to. The lady said said again that there was nothing inside. Well when I received the mulch there were numerous large pieces inside. I had about 10 paper years waste bags filled with these large pieces that were supposedly not inside. It seems like they just wanted to off load the mulch on me. I'm impressed with the service and product from Capital Mulch. I ordered the garden blend (50/50 top soil and compost) and it was delivered the following day. The soil wasn't super chunky or have any random wood filler or other whatnot in it. The company was communicative every step of the way, helpful, and professional. They laid a tarp down nicely on the driveway before dropping the soil on it (not super sloppily like I've had others do). I won't hesitate to buy from this company again and look forward to checking out their mulch products too. read more

I shopped around online AND in person and these are my findings on Capital Mulch Co... Highest quality of garden mixture for vegetables. 75% Clean topsoil/25% Clean compost. Rich dark brown/black and screened very well to eliminate debris, great feel to the soil. Cost was fair with other companies. Very friendly/knowledgeable walking through the yard and explaining the different soils to meet my needs best. Driver delivered today and called ahead to announce delivery, prompt, courteous and respectful of us and our property. I'm looking forward to a healthy planting season! Excellent service - super fast and so easy to book online. Booked it on Friday and they came on Monday morning - promptly! Their crew same within an hour of the mulch being dumped and cleaned up every drop of mulch that had been dumped in the street by my gate - I couldn't believe how clean they left the street! Had a great experience with capital mulch. I purchased 11 yards of screened fill dirt with installation (Julie). Dirt delivery was on time and driver was courteous. Installation team (Adrian+) was on time, courteous, cleaned up the dirt staging area, did as I requested and generally were good to work with. I underestimated the amount of dirt needed and CMC was able to help me out with a very quick delivery (had an open delivery slot in their schedule) that same morning, which allowed installers to finish the job vs needing to come back following morning. read more

Fantastic experience! I needed soil delivered to my property and priced a couple places. Capital Mulch was a few dollars less than Triangle Landscape Supply. However, Triangle wanted to charge me $120 for delivery! Capital Mulch did not have an upcharge for delivery. AND, they were a few minutes earlier and dropped it exactly where I asked. I will absolutely use them again. If you need soil or mulch, it's smart to call these guys and at least price them out against others; my experience was good. read more

Capital Mulch Company is great! I called to order a compost/topsoil blend for my garden and black dyed mulch for my yard. Their customer service made the whole experience wonderful, they arranged everything, when I came home my mulch and topsoil had already been delivered and installed. I was also within 10 miles of their store so delivery was free! My yard looks amazing, I will definitely be calling back next season. read more

Perhaps the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Some lawn work ordered on Tuesday, and they told us we'd get a call Thursday morning to let us know when to expect the crew. No call by noon, so we called Rich (owner of Capital Mulch). He said he was surprised we had not gotten a call, but that we were 'next on the list' for Thursday afternoon. No one came on Thursday. We called Friday morning, and Rich was again surprised that the crew did not show. He said he'd follow up and call us back. Never heard from Rich or the crew Friday or Saturday.
