I went for mlb Monday at 12:45 and there was hardly a line. Drink came out in less time Han 10 minutes so the service was fast and awesome. Someone is there to greet and open the door for you as soon as you walk in. Employees are super nice and there were a lot of people studying inside. Lots of seating too. I got the turmeric ginger latte with sf vanilla added to it. It might have because of the extra vanilla but it was way too sweet. Also I think it has no coffee at all because the color is very light. Charles Dickens described Capital One as the New Jersey Turnpike of banks. Was he aware of the cafés that awaited its future? Of the cheesemonger who now in this year of our lord 2025 lives within the entrails of JFK Airport? To be perfectly honest, I'm not entirely sure what he meant. Perhaps? Once upon a time I visited a café where I was told: we send out a cadre of street sweepers early in the morning to collect the trash from the side of the New Jersey Turnpike and we grind up that trash and we add several coffee beans and we make a drip coffee out of it. Their coffee was not good. In fact it was bad! Fortunately there is no New Jersey Turnpike nearby, and fortunately the coffee at this Capital One Café is not made from the trash from the roadside. I have visited this Capital One Café for years, through highs and lows. It has always been consistently decent. The coffee is good--not the best but certainly not the worst. In fact, it's probably one of the best coffee options in Harvard Square proper. And the price is solid if you have a Capital One card. The baristas are kind and welcome guests with arms wide open. What can be said about the ambience? It is perhaps not a good place for a warm and cozy chat, but it is a good place to get some work done. read more

This Cap One Cafe got a refresh, so it's time for a follow up review! Today was my first time coming to the bank/cafe since they repainted the interior and started carrying Verve Coffee. It's always been a popular space, but now it's full of light, new furniture, and open space (but still a couple conference rooms). I'm a bank customer, but I much appreciate how the staff welcomes everyone to come here, whether you have an account with them or not. I was very excited to see they now carry Verve Coffee, one of my favorite roasters from California. (They formerly carried Peets.) Cap One customers can use their debit cards for 50% off, which is an even better deal now that the drinks are a bit more expensive. My 12 ounce lavender honey latte was $6 without the addition of non-dairy milk and tax. It was a tasty treat on this cold, cold day - definitely on the sweeter side. There's still an ATM near one of the front doors and another inside, with a large digital display for additional bank products. But again, they're not pushing to sell, so you can just come in for a drink and a chat, or just a relaxing place to sit. The wifi is still fast and there are plenty of outlets. It looks like they now carry some sandwiches and hot food in addition to pastries. So I'll be back! read more

I go to this cafe almost daily however will not be going back. I was on a very stressful phone call and didn't realize I had bent my knee so I could hold my leg and my shoe was on the chair. The security guy at the front came up to me and asked if I spoke English or Spanish and very rudely was telling me I can't have my leg up. It's a very normal position to sit in especially while working or on the phone and I understand they have a strict no shoe on furniture policy but they could have addressed it better. Completely awful service where you get profiled and made to feel unwelcomed. It was slow and not that many people were in there and now I see why. After their sales people kept bothering us because we were exploring the "complimentary" rooms that were unused and had no reservations at the time, we will for sure be canceling our multiple credit cards along with switching over our checking and investment accounts. Combined that'll be 6 accounts lost from my family to a better competitor. They have high turnover of associates here and tend to attract these used car dealership type of customer service reps. These reps literally followed us around and acted like they were policing the grounds. The location at Assembly is much more courteous, they lack proper training here so maybe it's a management issue. read more

When we arrived around 1pm, there were no seats available. Also it's very tough to find street parking, so I would definitely walk or travel by T/bike. Pros: I would come very often to get their delicious iced matcha lattes (sweetened), which are super delicious. If you have a CapitalOne card, you get 50% off drinks, so it was a very inexpensive and tasty treat whenever I passed by. I also often come by to use the ATM and the staff are always very welcoming and eager to help. Cons: The way they make their matcha lattes involves some shaking and thus aeration, so unfortunately the 50% off cost is accompanied by 50% off liquid. Stopped in for a quick capuccino on the way to the airport. A lot of the neighborhood coffee houses close early which surprised me for a college town. Anyway this was open and they served Verve coffee which is very good quality. Service was so-so; I couldn't tell what the guy was asking me until I realized he was rattling off drink sizes in Italian multiple times (he could've just pointed to the board after the second time). The cap was good but a bit luke warm but it wasn't worth having them throw it away for a remake. Ambiance was good and the restroom was clean. read more

First, I want to make sure everyone knows: You DO NOT need to be a CapitalOne banking customer to come here. You do not need to use a CapitalOne card to get coffee. If you do, you get 50% off -- which is amazing, but not required. You always will not be hounded to open a CapitalOne account. Ok, onto the review... I have been here a few times over the years to work for a few hours and grab a coffee and it's always been good but now is quite possibly the best place to grab coffee and work in the area (including the Boston area.) What changed? The coffee shop parter. Before it was Peet's and now it's Verve Coffee. I never minded Peet's but have never loved it. I've had it in airports, I've had it in CA where they're from, and at this CapitalOne Cafe but always found it just fine. Verve on the other hand is great. Feels like a great small coffee chain (since it is.) I would go out of my way to get coffee here, even if I wasn't working for a few hours - I would not have done this with Peet's. The coffee is high quality, more 'craft' than Peet's which is more like a Starbucks. Verve is based in LA and is SUPER popular there. If they opened a shop outside of LA in NYC or Boston etc. it would be reported on as a big deal, but since it's hidden inside CapitalOne maybe there's been less fanfare (or I just missed it.) On top of that I'm sure everyone in LA is jealous we get the same coffee for 50% off! (if you use a CapitalOne card.) Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is the coffee is legitimately good. Oh! I also just had a Iced Cinnamon Hekla (similar to a cinnamon bun) and it was also delicious. No idea where they get their baked goods (can't imagine they are flying from CA daily) so bravo to where they source them. What about as a work space? EXCELLENT. Tons of seating in various styles: Cushioned benched, low tables, bar window seating, long community tables are varied heights. They also have lots of wall outlets, and never make you feel like you are loitering. I'm happy that every time I'm here there is a good amount of customers (makes me hopefully it won't close). I just counted and there are 20+ people sitting around and still so many places to sit. In most coffee shops in the area if you put 20+ seated customers you'd have no option to fit more. That brings me to my final point: the staff. Also excellent. Every time I've been here they are super friendly. This goes for the barista's and the CapitalOne employees that are hanging around the cafe. I wasn't a CapitalOne customer until recently, which they quickly and effortlessly helped me with. They do not push, upsell, or bother you if you're in the cafe. They greet you, and are here if needed but don't assume if you're here their job is to bombard you with CapitalOne promos or something: they don't. But if you need help, they will do so with a smile. Really I can't find any negatives for this place. Great space with lots of seating and outlets, solid pastries, friendly staff, and now fantastic coffee. The only downside that I could see for someone if they want this to act as a traditional bank, but CapitalOne is a "digital bank" so you can't do *everything* you can at a "traditional" bank.) Capital one cafe should obviously be the Capital ONE Cafe, since ONE is supposed to be in Capitals. Silly. What a strange and bizarre concept. It's a cafe named after a freaking credit card and the credit card is vital in this case because if you use it here then you get 50% off any drink - now that is a huge freaking discount. That's like better than an employee discount bro. It's like you have to work a full shift instead of a half shift just to get that as an employee bro. And surprisingly some of the drinks are actually pretty good - for example I really like the black coffee with the condensed milk - so if you have a Capital One Card, do a Selena and Come and Get It - dirt cheap drinks and if no CC Card, it'd be overpriced but still enjoyabe at least. I've been meaning to check out Capital One Cafe ever since I was in Seattle. The idea of having a nice, clean place to sit and relax with your preferred choice of drink (at 50% off if you use you Capitol One credit or debit card), plus get any financial errands done in one place was just something attractive to me. I'm glad I finally had a chance to stop by this branch in Harvard Sq one morning...and will probably be a regular here..so long as this place remains a calm, clean cafe to sit and enjoy your down time. The place offers many tables to sit..and is not cramped at all. There are bar/stools area, multiple tables and chairs ..or even comfy armchairs to relax in. You can book a small corner room to get your meeting or group work done, too! Surprisingly, it's not crowded at all..and I love how it's such a good deal here with 50% off drinks if you use a Capital One credit card. My large earl grey tea latte came to a total of just abit over $2...and with a nice, warm cozy place to sit..what not to like about it! This is a review based on coming to the location in person for the first time. The food and drinks here seem to be supplied by Peet's, which I rarely frequent. But you can take that into consideration as either a plus, a minus, or neither. To me it is the latter, I suppose. I wasn't familiar with the menu and was having trouble reading it, but the sole person behind the register was able to assist me. I ended up ordering a large cold brew iced coffee, a butter croissant and an almond croissant. If you use a Capital One card in store, you get 50% off all drink orders. Due to this perk, I ended up paying less than $10 subtotal and with tax, which was convenient. There's ample and comfortable seating in a fairly large space. It was chilly outside but not cold and I felt that the heat was excessive for my personal tastes. I probably ended up leaving a bit earlier than I otherwise would based on that. But that's based on personal preferences more than anything. They have Wi-Fi available for all customers free of charge and without a password. It worked like a charm the entire time I was there. Perhaps the best and most convenient Wi-Fi I can recall using in Harvard Square. The food and drink options are decent but not all that great, in my opinion. Better drink and pastry options than actual food. The condiments/sweeteners section they have didn't have Equal/aspartame which was disappointing to me. I ended up using Splenda and some white and brown sugar packets instead, and it was a decent substitute. This is a 4-star review where I'm basically giving them 3 stars for the food and drink options and quality, plus an extra star for the discount, the affordable price (especially for Capital One customers) and the ample seating options. Would recommend for someone looking for a comfortable cafe in Harvard Square, especially if they have a Capital One card. read more

This is a great, overlooked cafe in Harvard Square. It serves Peet's coffee and, perhaps contrary to popular belief, there is a decent amount of seating. When you first walk in, there are only stools, but there is an adjacent room that offers lots of tables/chairs and even meeting rooms. Don't overlook this - i mistakenly assumed it was the bank, but it's open for the cafe. The service was friendly and efficient. I visited during rush hour, but I received my drink within 5 minutes of entering the store. There was also plenty of available seating space - more than the standalone Peet's across the street. If you like Peet's coffee, you should check it out - don't be scared away by the Capital One logo. read more

I had a great experience at the Capital One Cafe today. Located on JFK Street near CVS and the garage, the cafe is very conveniently located next to the Harvard T stop. They have an innovative set up with a cafe serving Peet's coffee (complete with seating area) just inside the entrance, and then another area in the back where the actual bank is located. I love that they have a lot of deals going on all the time (for example, 50% off any drink with Capital One card anytime, and 50% off drinks for students every night for two hours with valid student ID). The manager was also extremely nice, and came and spoke to us as we were waiting for our drink. He let us know about the The service was excellent, and made me want to return regularly. My chai tea ($4.20 for a medium size) was delicious. The chai flavor was strong, and the drink itself was warm and smooth. The drink came out quickly and the service was great. I love Capitol One Cafes. I have gone to all of them in Boston. I'm at Harvard Sq this morning and am not impressed. I ordered a matcha latte and extra matcha. It was light green and ignited that. She said she added a little bit. I'm tasting the drink it was barely warm. I also ordered a chocolate croissant and asked for it to be heated up. The top is barely warm and the bottom, kid you not, is solid and cold. Since I didn't notice until I was nearly done from the top I didn't bother. I also think the barista is new and kinda quiet when speaking. And, although it wasn't busy in the cafe she was the only one there to handle register and making coffee. Didn't eat here but it's not a fully functional bank, and therefore it's a shitty one. We couldn't get money order's or cashier's checks when we went in person because everything there is digital. We would've had to order them ahead of time, which wasn't possible because this was for an apartment with an extremely tight timeline. Probably not. That is, unless you bank with Capital One. Let me explain. The Space: The Capital One 360 cafe consists of a modern space with spread out tables, couches, and sofa chairs. The combination of spread out tables and partial glass partitioning in several seating areas allows for a much more enjoyable experience than you would have at the cramped Starbucks or Harvard Coop down the street (that is, if you can snag a table. I've been successful in securing one 2 of the 3 times I've come here). The whole cafe is open to the public during the day, but requires a Capital One card to come at night. The Coffee: The cafe in the cafe is Peet's coffee, which in my opinion is better than Starbucks. If you have a Capital One debit or credit card, all drinks are 50% off! The Banking/Customer Service: The place has two amazing Capital One ATMs. I've never seen this before, but on withdrawals, you can actually choose how much of each kind of dollar bill you want. Pretty nifty considering that every other ATM I've used only gives 20s. The customer service is also excellent. In addition to the Peet's employees, there is always a security guard and a couple of Capital One agents who can help you with any banking questions. I idiotically forgot the PIN number on my debit card, and the agent who helped me walked me through how to reset it. There was no hint of "how the heck did you forget your PIN number" judgment from him and he gave me a free drink card after getting my PIN number reset! I've always been a fan of Capital One ever since I started using them, but this cafe has made me an active promoter. The whole concept of the cafe is still somewhat of conundrum to me as I can't imagine how they are making money off of this unless it is just to build up their brand. This is a great spot for a cafe workday. It's a quiet and roomy cafe with lots of small tables and a few extra room. There are plentiful outlets and the wifi is very fast, an order of magnitude faster than the Harvard wifi. It took me 3 minutes to download a file that was going to take hours on Harvard networks. The staff are friendly and there is almost always space to work. I am not a frequent coffee drinker, so I cannot really comment on the drinks. They seem typical of any chain coffee shop like starbucks or peets. Not mind-blowing but certainly good and with plenty of options and typical prices. read more
