I've been coming to the Capital One Café pretty regularly lately, mostly because they're currently offering a free handcrafted drink every Monday. The café is conveniently located inside Southpoint Mall and has free Wi-Fi, plenty of seating, and a good number of outlets. If you're meeting up with friends or need a place to study with a group, you can even reserve one of their conference rooms. I've been getting the matcha latte every time I visit. It's not my favorite matcha in the area, but it's still pretty good--and it's hard to beat free. Even after the Monday promotion ends, I could still see myself coming back because it's such a comfortable place to work or hang out for a while!

Kind of an interesting concept: a cafe that also has an ATM, meeting/work space, and access to financial products. The first time we stopped in was in the evening and we just wanted to see what it was all about. We got two noncaffeinated drinks and paid half price with our Discover card (because Capital One owns Discover now). The second time I came on Monday morning with a QR code for a free drink (promotion with Major League baseball). That time I got the Moonshot summer drink which is like a cold drink inspired by coffee ice cream, plus a slice of orange poppyseed cake. That drink was really sweet but got better as the ice melted. Coffee is decent, they have bakery items in a case, and the space is modern and clean. We'll be back and will continue to use our Discover card.

Capital One Café is a great spot if you want good coffee and a comfortable place to get a little work done. If you're a Capital One member, the drinks are half price, which is great but remember to bring your capital one debit or credit card! The coffee itself I have had has a deep, rich taste, and the staff is very nice and welcoming. What makes this "capital one" is that they have a banking expert available seven days a week, so you can get real help without waiting in long lines although mostly they help you get online and do whatever banking you're going to do. Also there is an ATM outside in a safe, open area. They also have a few meeting rooms you can reserve, and members get two hours a month for free. In my opinon it's perfect for bringing business contacts without paying for a coworking space. I knocked down a star because it looks like only one room is a viable option for most people and it has always been booked by a single person every time I go in. I do miss the old California Pizza Kitchen that used to be in this spot but I'm glad the area has one of these cafés now especially since I've been a Capital One customer for many years.

I recently visited the new Capital One Café at The Streets at Southpoint, and it was such a refreshing experience. The space feels modern, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed--perfect for grabbing a coffee, catching up on emails, or just relaxing during a shopping trip. The coffee quality really stood out. They serve craft coffee from Verve Coffee Roasters, and everything I tried tasted fresh and well-made. I also appreciated how comfortable the seating areas are, with plenty of outlets and reliable Wi-Fi--great for getting work done or meeting friends. One of the coolest things about this café is the concept itself. It's not just a coffee shop--it's a community-friendly space where you can relax, work, and even take care of simple banking needs if needed. The atmosphere felt friendly and low-pressure, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. Overall, this is a fantastic addition to Durham and a great new spot at Southpoint. Whether you're a coffee lover, a student looking for a study space, an entrepreneur or just someone who wants a comfortable place to unwind, this café is definitely worth visiting. Highly recommend checking it out!

Brand new Capital One café open at Southpoint mall. Clean, bright and friendly staff. Nicole was awesome with beverage selection and financial services. I ordered Cherry Vanilla Matcha Latte. Shane made Latte and it was beautiful! Will be back soon to open CD or savings. Room will require booking thru mobile app with limit of 2hours.

Recently checked out the cafe and had a wonderful experience. I am a capital one cardholder and I received a voucher for a free beverage. This location is location near south point mall with plenty of parking. When you walk in, you're greeted by everyone and asked about any particular needs. I ordered the signature beverage, the honey lavender latte with oat milk. Their drinks are definitely on the higher end, this order rang to $8.60. They also offer other beverages and snacks. There's plenty of comfy indoor seating and outlets to support cozy report work. The environment is very loud so I wouldn't take meetings here or stay too long if you're easily distracted. The beverage of choice was good--a nice balance with the flavors. They are have small meeting rooms you can reserve for up to two hours. I would definitely take advantage of this if meeting in the area. Overall, great experience!

They might be new to Chapel Hill but they've been around for 160+ years! I needed savings account for my son who is 10. It was going to be where he would deposit his own money. It's been a very long time since I've opened an account up but everything from start to finish was seamless and secure. Mr. Carr went to great length to introduce me to staff as we passed by them (which made me feel more comfortable) instead of just rushing me into some office to take my information. This branch really got to know me as a person and not just as account number. If you want personable and professional give this branch a chance. PARKING: there is shared parking all around the building as you pull in. Handicap accessible to the left of the building and a bike rack in the front. SEATING: I counted 3 designated areas where you can sit comfortably- coffee bar, side area, and front entrance. ATM: inside the first set of double doors to the right is an ATM. During business hours anyone can use them. But banking members can use their card after hours since its locked. HOURS: only closed on Sunday and traditional banking holidays.

Long-time Member Concerned About Unusual Fees & Security Practices…read more I've been a Duke Credit Union member for 28 years. The branch staff are consistently professional and helpful, which makes these concerns even more disappointing. Security Concerns: A few years ago, I experienced account access issues and was surprised that customer service reset my password using only basic personal information (name, SSN, birthdate) without any additional verification. This raised concerns about their cybersecurity practices. More recently, an IT professional -- without any prompting -- advised me to avoid this institution due to cybersecurity risks, which aligned with my own experience. Unusual Fee Structure: Recently, I discovered I've been charged $5 monthly for nearly two years for an unused "bill pay service" that I don't recall signing up for. When I contacted them, they explained this is a penalty fee for not using their proprietary bill pay system - despite the fact that I have numerous automatic bill payments processing through this same account monthly. Additionally, I just learned that my son's account is being charged $1 for each debit card transaction, including digital payments through services like Venmo & PayPal. Industry Context: After researching these practices, I learned that such fee structures are highly unusual in the current banking industry. Most credit unions offer free debit card transactions and don't penalize members for using standard automatic payment methods instead of proprietary systems. Recommendation: While I've appreciated the personal service over nearly three decades, these practices don't align with typical credit union member-focused values. I encourage potential members to carefully review all fee schedules & compare with other local financial institutions before making a decision. I'll be filing formal complaints with appropriate regulatory agencies and unfortunately looking for a new financial institution after 28 years of membership.

Not sure what happened with the Manager, Mark, but sadly turnover with staff. Yet, you keep Seth? Arrogant and cocky does not know banking and tells customers the wrong information and I even have it written down what he said! Seth ... shame on you! To daringly hold my 401k rollover check in your fingers daring to ask me if I still want it to be deposited! You should not give anyone financial advice as you are not competent whatsoever and to call out and the branch has no one else to assist? What? A poor excuse to call out and you do not look professional to handle large accounts and you are not investment savvy and to speak to me as to put me on a budget or allowance.....you are clueless! Mind your own manners and stop being disrespectful to account holders. As an account holder, you have lost my investment accounts and I will close the remainder of them based on the interactions this year. Next person that needs a personality makeover for customer service is Michelle. She is useless and my time is valuable, yet she spoke to me with blatant disregard and no respect. Fortunately NFCU 800# is helpful and aware of serious account services mismanagement at this local branch. I avoid whenever possible. I still have another bank so I can still manage liquidity. There are a very slim handful of helpful tellers. I do agree that staffing and coverage should be better. Whoever determines NFCU interest rates are terrible as I had to transfer investments to other banks offering greater than 5% interest when they change rates at the drop of a hat! The government has kept rates consistent only recently dropping .25%....I cannot wait to have my account make money with another firm!!!
