I was a loyal patient of Capital Women's Care for over 13 years, but what was once an exceptional experience has turned into the most distressing medical care I have ever received. After my recent appointment, I would strongly caution any woman considering this practice. Under Dr. Gonzales, my first two pregnancies were handled with outstanding care. He was compassionate, attentive, and made me feel seen and heard. Even with a very difficult first delivery, his team supported me through it, and my second delivery was smooth and complication free. I trusted this practice completely. After his passing and the transition of the practice, everything changed. During my third pregnancy with Dr. Melnick, I felt ongoing pressure toward a C-section based on uncertain size estimates, despite additional testing at my own expense. During labor, I experienced what I can only describe as coercion. I was told, "Do you want your baby to die?" in a highly vulnerable moment. My husband and family were present, and we all felt emotionally blackmailed into agreeing to surgery, even while nursing staff encouraged continuing toward a vaginal delivery. It was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. That C-section was over six years ago, which is widely considered a safe amount of time to attempt a vaginal delivery again, making the continued pressure in my current pregnancy even more concerning. I returned due to location and my preference to deliver at Prince William Hospital. Initially, Grace Artrip and Dr. Lawson were empathetic and supportive of a plan to attempt a vaginal delivery if I went into labor naturally. However, my appointment with Dr. Afram was completely unacceptable. He was dismissive, interrupted constantly, and showed no empathy for my prior trauma. He pushed aggressively for a scheduled C-section and demanded I sign an agreement committing to surgery if I did not go into labor by 39 weeks. When I asked what would happen if I refused, he said he would "fire" me as a patient. The situation escalated to the point where I requested another staff member present. Even then, he continued to interrupt and belittle me. The office manager did her best to de-escalate and support a productive conversation, but he continued his behavior. As he stood in the doorway, he told me he was "not a hairdresser" and "not in customer service," in an intimidating tone. When I said I would leave a review, he responded that he did not care and I could do what I want. I have never felt so disrespected in a medical setting. While some staff members are clearly trying to provide compassionate care, they deserve a more professional and respectful environment as well. After 13 years, it is heartbreaking to say this practice no longer reflects the level of care, compassion, or professionalism it once did. Patients deserve to feel safe, respected, and supported in their medical decisions, and that has not been my experience here. read more

I've been with Capital Womens Care for over 2 decades, but moved closer to the Sudley Rd office. Excellent. PA Erin Larsen has extensive endocrine experience at Georgetown University Medical. I not only received a thorough annual exam, but, as I had thyroid cancer and subsequent surgery months ago, PA Larsen knew of possible future concerns unaware to me. She is an excellent diagnostician. read more

I had Dr Gonzalez as my OBGYN until he suddenly passed away, after he passed, I saw Afram who was nothing compare to Dr Gonzalez , I can honestly say Afram was the opposite of wonderful. He showed no care at all. I had my son through c section. In my follow up appointment which was about a week after I had my son. He removed the stitches, put a dressing inside my wound , covered with a tape and sent me home. I trusted him, the worst thing , I was shower in blood from this male practice office to the elevator and my husband car. I was taking to emergency by my husband and seeing by other doctors that night and the following days. Everybody was shocked to see me and what Afram did to me. I complained to the Medical Board but they did nothing. The damaged this caused me was horrific. Please do not let this happen to you. I will never go back to that place. read more

As a new patient I was surprised to have an over 40 min wait time and only spent 5 mins with the Physician . I had to call the office to get test results after waiting a week to only get a message back in the patient portal with words misspelling instead of a call back to acknowledge the message I left on the answering machine. Dr. David Afram was the first gynecologist I have ever seen and will be the only I ever plan to. This was my first pregnancy and I have been going to him from day one. Him and his staff have been nothing short of amazing. He is the most caring and compassionate doctor I have ever seen. He goes above and beyond by to follow up personally after appointments, which is rare nowadays. Whenever I have a question, he is always happy to help, calm, accessible, and understanding. He truly cares about each of his patients. I don't just consider Dr. Afram as my doctor, but as an extension of our family. He is the best doctor you will ever find in the area. He delivered my first baby a week ago and the entire process was a piece of cake because of him and his staff. As soon as he walks into the room you immediately feel at ease. He takes time to listen and address all of your questions and concerns. During the end of my pregnancy he always made himself available to talk after office hours if I had any questions. Dr. Afram is highly respected by the hospital staff. He treats everyone with respect and I would recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and caring doctor. As it was my first pregnancy, I felt safe in his care. My body has healed nicely without issues and I have healthy baby girl. If you're looking for a caring, friendly and trustworthy doctor and place to deliver, this is it. read more

I've just started with Capital Women's care as I have been dealing with PCOS for months and my last doctor had changed their policies due to COVID and they also were no longer in network with my new insurance. I researched and got desperate for help and was able to find a female doctor that was accepting new patients here in Manassas close by. The first time I came, my babysitter cancelled on me last minute and they would not let me bring my daughter in with me. They suggested I leave her outside in the hallway...SHE IS 5! I left and called and left a very angry message and the Manager called me back the next day, offered me a new appointment and said she would handle and speak with the person who I spoke with when I showed up with my daughter. I went to my appointment, got examined, and the doctor was very nice, she prescribed something to ease my symptoms and had me get some labs done. So I felt better about the practice at that point. A week later, they call me back and said they forgot to run a certain test on my blood samples and I need to come back and give more. Not a fan of needles, but I did it so I can get some answers and relief from everything I am going through with PCOS. It's been almost 2 weeks and no one has bothered to call me with results at all and no one has responded to my voicemails from the last several days! I also have an appointment Monday that I am not sure if I can make, and I left the messages that I have questions and need assistance regarding my appointment! I'm not sure what to do at this point, but I think I need to find another doctor's office, to be honest. read more

You can never get a hold of anyone, like literally ever . Leaving multiple voicemails gets you no where and in office staff is just as discombobulated as you could imagine . Criminal. Became a patient this March 2022 and it was hands down the worst experience with a medical practice of my entire life. Needed to find a new doctor as my former OB's office closed during the pandemic and I am pregnant. I've experienced better care and customer service at McDonalds drive throughs. You cannot get through to anyone on the phone - not if your prescription somehow hasn't made it to the pharmacy (true story), not if you need to make an appointment, not if you were billed incorrectly, not if you have a question for the nurse, nothing. I can't imagine how scary it would be if you were calling for signs of early labor or something medically urgent. The patient portal doesn't "talk" to the billing department, so you are harassed upon arrival for balances you already paid time and time again. I prepaid hundreds of dollars for the appointments that would last my entire pregnancy and have since left for another practice. It's been two weeks of me leaving messages to process the refund and I haven't received one call back - now I'm working directly with Capital Women's Care corporate office to complete the refund request and file formal complaints. If you don't want to add more stress to your life and pregnancy, avoid at all costs. read more

Do not go here. I've been here before and I had a fine experience. This year I've had the worst customer service because I cannot get ahold of anyone to schedule my annual visit or my Obgyn appointment. I requested one online and they sent an automatic email saying they'd call me to confirm. I never received a call. I tried calling twice and got voicemail both days during business hours. I also didn't receive calls back. My appointment was supposed to be today and I have yet to receive a call back or notice of confirmation. I've been waiting 3 months for this appointment by the way since I sent my request in February through their website. read more

I'd give this business a one if it wasn't for the wonderful Dr. Galuk. Who by the way, recently quit and no one told her patients that of where she was going! The receptionists are mildly friendly IF they'll answer the phone. I couldn't get my yearly mammogram because they won't answer the phone or call me back from the several messages I left on their answering machine. They're never available to answer the phones! They need to have a lunch shift answering the phones. Do yourself a favor and don't go there! read more

My experience with CWC pre-pregnancy was excellent and Dr. Afram was super helpful in helping my husband and I get pregnant. Unfortunately, once I started seeing them for pregnancy things went downhill. If pregnant or expecting to be pregnant and under their care, be forwarned that they are not transparent about their policies. They do not see patients during nights and weekends. They are on call to advise but if you end up at L&D for any form of emergency or issue after hours, they will not be seeing you - a hospitalist will. If you end up in labor unplanned during the night or weekend, a hospitalist will deliver your baby. While my son ended up delivered by a EXCELLENT hospitalist and team at PWC, I felt duped that I wasn't made aware of how emergencies and deliveries are handled until the very end of my pregnancy and I found myself in a emergency situation. They are not at all forthcoming about their policies. I saw Dr. Galuk for a portion of my pregnancy and the care recieved from her was mediocre. I avoided scheduling appointments with her towards the end as often as I could because I personally didn't trust her. Communication within the office and with other providers (example: MFM) was poor and I was constantly having to follow up. It seemed like they never reviewed the reports that were sent by the MFM - I know for a fact that the MFM was not the problem. Ultimately it felt like MFM was providing my care while CWC got paid for very little. By the end of my pregnancy I requested scans be done by MFM because CWC didn't seem capable and I didn't trust them. If you have a boy and plan to circumcise, they require the procedure be done outpatient in their office after discharge. I was a parent with a NICU baby and we had to jump through hoops to have the procedure done prior to hospital discharge - CWC is the only OB practice out of PWC that has this policy. I transitioned ASAP to a new provider, I will never have another baby under the care of CWC. I will say that their PA, Erin Lawson is excellent. If she worked with another practice, I'd see her in a heartbeat. Their main nurse Tracy is also amazing. read more

I have been a patient of this practice since 2008 (under Drs. Gonzalez, Foley and Amarante). I have yet to see all of the new providers as the practice is in transition (Drs. Amarante and Foley are now hospital based) following the tragic and sudden loss of Dr. John Gonzalez. The staff (from the lab and sonogram techs, front desk, nurses and medical assistants) are always pleasant and kind and have always given me the sense they actually care about their patients. The office is conveniently located on the Prince William Hospital campus. I recently saw Dr. Jacqueline Placette for the first time. She was nice but I personally thought she came across as a "know it all" and had answer for every thing I told her (when discussing my previous medical history it seemed as if she was contradictory and sited precedent instead of acknowledging my personal experiences). She also was negative about another OB's methods (an outside OB had run labs on me and Dr. Placette made it seem like they wasted their time by doing so because they weren't important- which left me confused). Overall my visit with her was okay but I honestly would not be too thrilled to see her again- she lacked some of the bedside manner the previous physicians in the practice had. I look forward to meeting Dr. Afram and the other providers and hope the practice continues to provide the same great service. read more

This is the worst place for women's care. Erin Lawson is perhaps the most incompetent physician I have ever seen. She misdiagnosed me and I had to return for another visit because of it and was charged for both. The receptionist scheduled me for a telemedicine visit just to get a refill for a prescription. Lawson never showed for it and calls me 30mins later over the phone and I get charged full price for it! When I went to go ask if the charge could be taken off, the billing manager was rude and said it didn't matter if she didn't show it still counts as a regular visit. This is terrible patient care. My concerns were not heard and if my infection was worse, they wouldn't have known or cared. I will never go back here again. This place is a joke. read more

I would not recommend this office. I was not informed that my OBGYN would be on leave when it came to my delivery date until 2 weeks before my due date therefore I expected to be delivered by another doctor from their practice...at least that's what I was told. When I checked in the hospital no one from Capital Women's Care ever showed up!!! I was delivered by a Novant hospital doctor (luckily for me she was great!) but CWC doctors never called me after I had spoken to their 24/7 line to tell them I was bleeding, they told me they'd notify the "on call" doctor but a doctor never called or checked up with me at all. They also didn't care to visit my son in the NICU. While my son was in the NICU I saw one of CWC doctors visiting that family and baby, made me feel so uncared for that for 9 months I meant nothing to them especially because they knew I had a high risk pregnancy and my son would be in the NICU too. Even when I called them a week after giving birth to cancel my follow up 38week appointment, front desk couldn't even congratulate me instead she acted like they were not aware I had given birth and quickly canceled my future appointments. The receptionists have zero customer service skills. They don't answer the phones half the time and when they do, they sound annoyed and can't even get the right information. I called saying I would be 30 minutes late to my appointment and they said okay. I get there and they make me fill out papers and have me wait just to tell me I have to go to another location the next day because I supposedly said I would only be 10 minutes late which I never said! By far the worst experience I've ever had! Super rude staff that lacks communications skills and many ethical qualities. read more

I have been a patient of this practice since 1998, when I needed a biopsy and then a LEEP. The doctors, at the time were WONDERFUL. As the years passed, the doctors that were here slowly retired. Dr. Gonzales was the doctor that eventually delivered my babies and I didn't see anyone except for him for 13 years. Sadly, Dr. Gonzales passed away and the practice now has Dr. Afram. Before I continue, I want to say that Erin Lawson, the PA is GREAT. During my yearly appointment, she noticed that the strings to my IUD were not there and I had an ultrasound to determine if it was out of place or not. It was. I get an appointment for an IUD removal and to get a new one inserted. I knew the removal wasn't going to be as easy as the last time because of the strings missing. For an hour and a half, Dr. Afram tried to remove this IUD, to no end. During this time, my bladder had the nerve to fill up, which annoyed him to no avail , never mind that I was the one being victimized by his forceps. After all that time, he ended up pushing the IUD back into place and let me know I needed to come back in 3 months for a follow up ultrasound to see if it was still in place. I had that appointment last week and then the office called to tell me that Dr. Afram wanted to see me for a follow up appointment to discuss the ultrasound results. Today was that appointment, which was at 3:15. At 3:30, I was taken back to an exam room and informed Dr. Afram has to run over to the hospital and might be back within 15 minutes but the nurse said she would let me know if he wasn't coming back. I expressed my annoyance at the situation-he just walked out to the hospital but my appointment was 15 minutes earlier. After about 10 minutes, the office administrator, who was lovely and listened to me complain. My biggest complaint about my follow up appointment was that I wasn't sure it was necessary; I either need surgery to remove the IUD, or I don't. Seems like that could have been a phone conversation. After almost an hour, Dr. Afram appears and asks if I'm in any pain, which I'm not, and he says I don't need to remove the IUD unless it hurts. He also said that the progesterone in my IUD will keep me from getting pregnant even though the IUD isn't in place, which sounds awesome, right? Except I don't have the hormone based IUD, which I told him and he was very dismissive about my concerns that it doesn't need to be in place saying the IUD will still prevent pregnancy, which then begs the question as to why I had to undergo any of these ultrasounds and had to get the IUD removed and a new one before he pushed it back into place. After 20 years, I am now on the hunt for a new gynecologist. Dr. Afram is terrible. read more

its been awhile since I have been to an obgyn. I am a very busy mom with a special needs child . I put him first so I haven't been scheduling my regular check up and putting it off and than COVID19 hit and made me have to put off scheduling for another year, so coming into the appointment I was very nervous, but Dr.Afram was amazing and made me feel comfortable . The ladies in the front are very nice and so it all ither staff memebers. read more

I've been a patient of Capital Women's Care since they came to Manassas several years ago, even prior to the name change (with Drs. Foley/Amarante/Gonzalez). Every year in the past few years the professionalism and care that I receive declines. The front desk/office staff is understaffed and not always professional. There is a lot of physician turnover from year to year. Today I realized that I do not TRUST the staff to handle my medical care, and trust is #1 priority. Go elsewhere for your (and your baby's) precious medical care. read more

I started to go here because the location is convenient for me. I hate it. From my first visit at 7 weeks I was not told about prenatals. The ultrasound technician named Gaby will do your ultrasound and never say a word. Might as well figure it out by yourself. She will be late to work and will make you wait. I missed my appointment one time and they never called me to reschedule or ask why I did not come in. I had to call almost a month later to reschedule. No one makes you feel like they care about you. Please do not waste your time. As a pregnant woman I need someone who cares about my baby and me. read more

I highly do not recommend going here if you have any abnormalities. I went to the Ashburn campus first when the doctor did my first endometriosis surgery but afterwards when it didn't work he stopped helping and didn't know what to do. I then went to the manassas campus and i have never been made to feel so awful by a doctor before. He was rude. He didn't believe i was in pain and told me to get over it. He started yelling over me and would not let me talk. Anything i said he pushed aside. He stopped letting me talk so i had to tell for him to even hear me. Afterwards i felt useless because according to him my pain was invalid. Highly recommend finding somewhere else to go because they know nothing about endometriosis. Also got an ultrasound done there which is already painful but the tech twitched while inside and it yanked the probe instead of the tech say she was sorry she laughed. Highly unprofessional DO NOT GO HERE. read more
