I also love the online booking system and wish more practices would offer this. I used this practice for about three years. My first visit was with a provider I don't remember, but who was perfectly fine. Next year, I booked with Dr. Andre, and had a less-than-stellar experience. She was over 30 minutes late to my appointment, after the nurse had already taken my information and set me up in the room. She scolded me for venturing out of the room to look for someone and then when she finally saw me was pretty condescending and dismissive of some concerns I had. I gathered she had to attend to an emergency right before my appointment, so as a human I can appreciate that may have been an exceptionally difficult day for her, but as a patient that doesn't make what I experience ok. I wish that would have been handled differently, even if I were just offered the chance to reschedule. Next year, I determined to schedule with someone else and was seen by Erica Lybarger. I really liked her bedside manner and found her friendly and engaging. I really appreciate her gentle approach and how dedicated she is towards helping patients manage any pain. This year I saw her again and still enjoyed meeting with her. However, after our review of some birth control methods, I went home and researched the options we discussed and found out she had misconstrued some of the side effects, avoided mentioning some risks, and left out one significant valid option. Reading both legitimate medical pages on these options as well as other patients' experiences with side effects made me uncertain I could trust the information she provides and I decided to seek a different provider based on my GP's recommendation. Ultimately, I think a patient could still have a good experience with this practice and even with both the providers I am reviewing. I just decided based on the care I received that i want to receive more reliable support elsewhere instead of trying a new provider within the practice.

The billing manager submitted my bill to Medicare with an incorrect code so the practice sent it to me to pay instead. Despite frequent calls to request that they resubmit with the correct code, they never did and instead sent my bill to a collection agency. She never bothered. The practice manager promised me this morning that the billing manager would return my call this time. They close in an hour and have yet to hear from her.

My last visit earlier this year (2025) went fine. The doctors were wonderful as expected. The office staff functioned well, but appeared to be frustrated or under a lot of pressure of working very little guidance. The billing department was another story entirely. They took advantage of patient's and medical doctors' ignorance of insurance codes and handed me a mass bill with very little work done. It took me months with calling and leaving messages in order to get to talk to anyone in billing department. Three years ago, Dr. Kim personally performed a Pap smear test, but the test couldn't be processed because there wasn't enough cell collection. I returned today -- three years later -- for a follow-up. As always, I arrived 20 minutes early and was waiting in the reception area. When Dr. Kim came out, I greeted her, but she looked noticeably displeased and asked why I was there. I explained that I had an appointment and was waiting. From that moment, she began reprimanding me for arriving too early, saying she was in the middle of seeing another patient and that having the next patient waiting in the reception area was something she hated the most. She then told me to go outside and wait until she called me by phone. I had never heard anything like that before. There was no notice anywhere stating that patients are not allowed to wait in the reception area if another patient is being seen. She had never mentioned such a policy in advance either. And, of course, I was simply doing what I have always done -- arriving 20 minutes early and waiting quietly. My husband was with me, and we both felt awkward and almost as if we had been kicked out. I don't know when this policy started, but she justified it by saying it was to protect the privacy of the patient she was currently seeing. I have never encountered anything like this at any other doctor's office. And this particular office is not even an open space where privacy would be at risk. For me, this was an altogether unprecedented and profoundly disconcerting experience. If such a protocol is indeed her preference, then surely the appropriate course would be to communicate these expectations clearly and courteously before the appointment -- rather than delivering reprimands that leave patients feeling unwelcome and diminished. A medical environment should be a place of comfort and care, not one where patients are made to feel as though they have transgressed. Regardless of whatever personal or professional pressures she may be facing, her manner toward patients remains unacceptable. If she finds herself unable to approach her practice with the attentiveness and compassion it requires, perhaps it would be wise to step back temporarily -- or to consider whether this work still aligns with her capacity to serve patients with dignity. I had gone to my appointment expecting a calm and comfortable visit, but instead I was met with an upsetting and embarrassing situation I had never anticipated.

I called the nurse to ask about a subchronic hemorrhage that was found in an early ultrasound because Dr. Santiago was on vacation. Left a voicemail. Never heard back. Left a message with the front office who said they would put a post it on the nurse's desk and tell her to call me. Never heard back. 3. I did genetic testing and my results were never posted to the portal. I had to call to ask for the results over the phone. To this day, the results still haven't been posted to the portal. 3. I actually had to call 6 times to ask for my results before anyone would give them to me over the phone. 4. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, which means you need to check your blood sugar 4 times a day. I called the office to request a prescription for the monitor and was told I needed to speak to the nurse. I called the nurse. No answer. Left a voicemail. Never heard back. Followed up a few days later and the nurse finally picked up. I told her the exact name of the glucose monitor my insurance would cover. Two weeks later, I still didn't have a prescription for the monitor. I emailed the doctor on the portal. Never heard back. Called the front office and was told "some doctors are slower to respond on the portal than others. Her scheduler never called me back after 2-3 calls where I left voicemails. Months went by and after a message on the Athena portal I finally got a call back. This should have been a red flag. Her office called and said I had a 821.00 copay. I paid it. The surgery center said I had an additional copy for $1400 on the day of surgery. This didn't sound right, I asked for an itemized bill. Turns out the $2200 I paid was incorrect and without even saying anything INOVA and her office refunded me the money. I was out on short-term disability and sent the form to her via Athena health (required for me to return to work), she acknowledged it and then went silent, never filling it out. I had sent several messages, called and even went to her office with a printed form in order to get it done. It was ignored and because of this I missed 3 days of work and was not able to return as scheduled. Her office called me at 3:45 on Friday (they close at 4) to say it was complete even though I had dropped it off 3 days prior (at this point I had sent the form to her 2 weeks prior). The office staff called and said it had been sent to me, it was not. I had to go in person Monday (and take off another day of work) to get it. The girl at the front desk is incredibly rude and does not know how to do her job. When I called and went by in person, the first thing out of her mouth was "Did you pay?", I stated I was not aware anything was owed, she again said "Did you pay for this?". I told her if anything was owed, it was her responsibility to notify me. Not once did Dr. Agarwal or her office staff apologize for making me miss work or overcharging me. The kicker is that at the time I was a supervisor at the surgery center that she operates at and saw her regularly over a period of years. I do not need any special treatment but was shocked by her and her staff's behavior and lack of professionalism. I will not be going back and plan to find another provider.

My name is Patricia Oyem, and I recently gave birth to my son on May 2, 2026…read more I want to be very clear that this review is not about my OB-GYN physician. He is an exceptional doctor who has delivered all three of my children. In fact, he is the reason I continued my care with this practice and chose to travel from Maryland to the Annandale office. My doctor has always been compassionate, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout my pregnancies. Unfortunately, my experience with the front desk staff and office administration has been extremely disappointing and has overshadowed what should have been a positive postpartum experience. Approximately two weeks after my delivery, I received a phone call from the office informing me that I needed to come in for a two-week postpartum appointment before my six-week follow-up visit. Since my previous child was born over 15 years ago, I only remembered having a six-week postpartum appointment, so I trusted the information I was given. I was instructed to come in the very next day because I was already two weeks postpartum. As a mother recovering from a C-section, leaving the comfort of my home is not something I do lightly. Recovery is physically painful, emotionally exhausting, and requires careful planning, especially when caring for a newborn. Despite this, I made the effort to attend the appointment because I believed it was important for my health and recovery. When I arrived at the office, I was informed that there was no appointment scheduled for me. I was shocked, frustrated, and deeply disappointed. I had only come because the office contacted me and instructed me to do so. To make matters worse, there was little acknowledgment of the inconvenience and hardship this caused. Patients recovering from major surgery should not be subjected to unnecessary trips, confusion, and poor communication. A simple mistake may seem minor to office staff, but for a postpartum mother recovering from a C-section, it creates unnecessary stress, discomfort, and frustration. Because of this experience, I have decided not to return to this clinic for my postpartum care. Instead, I plan to seek my postpartum follow-up and evaluation through the hospital where I delivered. I sincerely hope the practice takes steps to improve communication, scheduling accuracy, and patient care from its administrative staff. The physicians may provide excellent medical care, but the front office is often the first and last impression patients receive. Unfortunately, my experience with the office staff did not reflect the level of care and professionalism that patients deserve.
