The class was informative and fun. I left feeling empowered and more confident in my ability to protect myself and my family. I took the all woman's class and everybody felt comfortable and at ease. You can't beat John and Julianna Crowder's approach to gun education. From novice to advanced they take the time, effort and perspective to make sure everyone gets what they need in order to be successful. I have take both their new shooter and CHL classes. I won't even think about going anywhere else for further work on my shooting skills. Even if you are not a new shooter, I HIGHLY recommend taking their course. Their approach to learning is not just how to operate your gun, proper two-hand grip, obtain sight, and pull the trigger. They give you the experience of what it feels like to shoot single handed, how it feels when a gun jams, how to safely clear a gun jam when possible, how it feels to shoot a target close up (like an assailant who is in your personal space), and many other perspectives you may not think of. Again, you can't go wrong with CAPS. You will not find another team like John and Julianna. As for being a woman shooter, you will not find anyone who will teach you how to handle your weapon like Julianna. read more

I recently took a ladies only CHL class taught by Julianna Crowder. Let me start off by saying she is a HOOT! The class and range time was very professional, educational, and enjoyable all at the same time. I was laughing and having a great time throughout the whole day. Generally speaking a 10+ hour class can be a real drag, but this is not the case here. If you are apprehensive about taking this class, don't be. I will definitely be back to see Julianna and John for my renewal, as well as recommend all of my friends, family, and even you strangers on yelp. I really can't say enough about Julianna and her group. She is a real inspiration to women, not to mention a BMF. You will not regret taking any of the CAPS classes. read more

After doing a tremendous about of research to pick the right CHL class I picked CAPS/ Julianna Crowder. I was referred to her by two other firearms instructors, a gun shop, as well as read the Yelp reviews which all seemed positive. Well... the biggest disappointment was when I arrived at the class Julianna nor her husband were there to teach. There was a fill in instructor who said Julianna was having him teach more of her classes as she has been very busy. Now that would be fine, except the same teaching standard was NOT in place with the other instructor. Don't get me wrong the gentlemen was very boastful at how well of an instructor he was. However there were several problems. Communication with Julianna was NOT consistent/ professional. She emailed all in the class that due to the range schedule we would be starting earlier than the posted time. All students sat in their cars as the instructor was late. Also another time problem, this instructor LOVED to hear himself talk. He mentioned at the beginning of class since it was a small class we would have plenty of time, and actually could finish slightly early. However that was NOT the case, the instructor took even longer than the posted schedule on the website which caused even more issues on the range. Once the class was over and we arrived at the range. We were met at the range with the instructor rushing out of the door telling us to hurry up and sign in and drive back to the CHL bay. He blamed Julianna for not telling him what time the range closed and we had to hurry before they closed. Needless to say, it was like a speed show once on the range. Everyone was very rushed, with the instructor pushing "OK lets hurry up, gotta move, gotta hurry before we run out of time" Very unprofessional on the instructors part! Another un-professional aspect that I was highly offended by. This particular instructor must have told the class more than 5 times throughout the day, that he had his FLL license. In other words he was a gun dealer operating out of his house. So not only did he make this statement several times throughout the class. He actually wasted class time trying to sell his goods. I would have been fine with him handing out a business card, but it didn't stop there. He brought gun safes in after lunch to demonstrate, then after one of the afternoon breaks he had 3 small pistols he had to stop class and allow all to see/touch/feel and then quoted prices. Also told everyone, to buy guns from him, he could beat even GT distributor prices and promised to save everyone money regardless on what they wanted to buy! Another irritating part of the class/ issue with the instructor. He was totally unfamiliar with the laptop computer/ audio visual equipment in the room. He wasted lots of time in the morning trying to figure out how to work the computer, speakers on the computer to hear the videos, along with even how to play the video's on the computer. Also instead of calling someone for help during the break time, he chose to go outside and smoke, and then wasted class time fighting with the computer several times throughout the morning. All in all, before signing up for a class with CAPS. I highly recommend emailing and finding out who the actual instructor will be for the class. If it's not Julianna or her husband, I would pass. read more

Let me start off by saying that I have NEVER written one single Yelp review, but felt as if I was doing Julianna a disservice if I didn't share just how absolutely amazing she was. I am a 5'2", 100 lb female that has never handled or shot any type of firearm before. From the first phone call, Julianna was an absolute sweetheart and answered any & all questions I had. She was extremely accommodating & worked to fit me into her schedule. I decided to schedule a private lesson with her in preparation for my CHL certification class (which I ended up taking with her as well).
