Love this place, I get my hunting license here every year. I have also used their gunsmith to Cajunize 2 CZ 75 variants and replace a soft bolt body with an enhanced Atlas Firearms bolt for a CZ Scorpion. IME, it is best to get work done after the hunting rush. Wait times get worse the closer you get to fall. Apr through Jul is usually best. I had a pistol Cajunized in the busy season and it took a little over a month. I took one in during mid-Spring, dropped it off at 11, and had it done same day by 4:30. The DA/SA are so much lighter and crisper. I have Cajunized one myself, so I know what is involved. It is surprisingly hard to find gunsmiths with experience Cajunizing, or with CZs in general. I guess it makes sense, they are far less common than Glocks, M&Ps, etc. I have had smiths tell me they do not work on CZs, or they say "we can do that, we'll figure it out," which is not comforting. Each time I came in, the associate at the counter brought me to talk to a gunsmith. He knew the order the parts go back in, that some jobs like the mag release are easier when everything is already apart, and that you have to remove the front sight pin to replace the barrel bushing. The sear cage is a nightmare to get back together, so I'm happy to outsource it. It's clear they do a bunch of them here, so it takes less time than me installing it or a smith doing it for the first time. read more

I had my 243 rifle repaired because it would not eject the bullet; one of the charges was $45.41 for 20 243 bullets; they said they used all 20 in testing the repair; Remington Core-Lokt 199-grain bullets are $31.99 at Academy; they also charged $45 to test fire after the repair; total bill was $379.74 read more

Whike I haven't spent thousands of dollars here, I had been satisfied with my purchases until recently. Under their recommendation, I purchased a suppressor, good quality red dot, and red dot mount for a PCC. When I was finally able to get the suppressor attached, the mount that I bought under the recommendation did not co-witness with the iron sites. When I tried to return/exchange for something else, I was told that it was past their 30 day return policy. I asked if they could simply allow me to exchange it for other merchandise, but again stuck to their policy. Needless to say, I am very disappointed. I had to wait more than 30 days for the adapters to mount the suppressor on the PCC, but I never went back and told them to cancel that order so I could purchase somewhere else. I was very patient and respectful with them while I waited. While I am not a huge customer, I will no longer be a customer. read more

I've been a long-time customer of Sportsman's Finest and have spent well over $6,000 here over the years, but this recent experience was extremely disappointing. My friend purchased approximately $800 worth of hunting gear on November 21st that ended up not being used. The items were completely unworn and still had all tags attached. We attempted to return the items before he had to fly out, but the store is closed on Sundays. Due to the holidays and both of us being from out of town, we were unable to return the items until December 26th. At that point, we were told the return was refused because it was outside of their 30-day return policy. What's frustrating is that the policy does not reasonably account for store closures and holidays. This was not an abused return--everything was new and unused. When I called back to calmly explain the situation and ask if there was any flexibility, I was laughed at and told I was wrong. That response was unprofessional and upsetting. I expected better customer service from a company I've supported for years. Policies are one thing, but how customers are treated matters just as much. Unfortunately, this experience has made me reconsider shopping here in the future. read more

While not ecstatic about the customer service I received, I asked the store team to demonstrate the gun firing two full magazines and, if successful, I would revise my 1 star review. I purchased a used Walther PK380 from "Sportsman's Finest" and tried firing it on two separate occasions with a thorough cleaning in between. I was unable to get the gun to fire a complete (8 round) magazine without at least one instance of failure to battery. The store team (reluctantly but successfully) fired two full magazines without a jam today. I promised I would revise my review if they did so here we go. I've been trying to buy The Goat gun through them for 5 months only to get a different story every time I walk in. Welp I ended up buying it from The Range. was tired of the runaround. What's more is I bought an expensive .45 caliber pistol. Found a nice Leopold scope to match however when it didn't fit right they offered to handle the custom plate coordination only to not follow through, make excuses and than send me to a third party with even worse customer service that them. I live around the corner from Sportsman's but now drive 30 mins to buy guns. I can't justify purchasing goods from this store. so disappointing and wasteful. Worst staff. read more

Amazing gun smithing service. I brought in a pistol to have the iron sights replaced and the gunsmith immediately went to work on it. An hour later he let me know he put a tiny scratch on the sight while trying to hammer it in and because of that it was free of charge. I couldn't care less that the sight was slightly scratched but they insisted if it's not done to their standards then it's free of charge. I also noticed once I got home that the scratches I put on my pistol while trying to install the sights myself was gone. The gunsmith never told me but he completely refinished the metal and now the gun is good as new. Unbelievable service and I will be taking everything to them from now on. read more

Sooo I went back to Sportsman's Finest today to try to find a 'concealed carry' holster for my Sig Sauer P365 and I was helped by Travis. He was so kind and helpful and knew exactly what holster would be the Very Best for me and boy he was right on the money ! I had an unusual request of Sportsman's Finest a few months ago, and that was to safely ship my grandfather's vintage Winchester rifle to Las Cruces, New Mexico, where it is now found in the collections of the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Museum (a division of the State of New Mexico). They were so nice, and as my request was somewhat unusual, very accommodating. The rifle sat on a large mesquite "plaque" made by my father, making it heavier and bulkier than normal. I went here one day for a FFL transfer and the guys at the counter took 30 minutes to submit my background check AFTER I had finished my part. There was no one at the counter buying anything, just me and about three of them. They were chatting with each other and some old guy who stopped by and kept looking back at me as if I didn't know how quickly the process would take. Became spitefully slow after I inquired. They didn't start doing their part of the background check submission until I started asking them to show me every damn gun on the wall. "Let me see this one and then that one" and then "how about that old musket...Oh, and I've been wanting one of these flintlocks! How many you got!" It wasn't until I became Curious George that they decided to hurry up and finish the background check. Oh, then they starting clicking the keyboard! Ridiculous. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! I placed an order online for .223 rem ammo for 1000 rounds, payment went through and I got a confirmation email saying thank you for your order. The next day I got a call from them saying they needed to cancel the order because their system had a glitch in their online system and they could not sell it for the price I had already bought it for. I spoke to Austin Farmer who is the head of their online sales and he said the only thing they could do was sell me it for $.58 per round when I had already bought it for $.42 per round. I came here after I got off work i had been looking for a AR 15 at a decent price. I ended up getting a S&W m&p 15 sporting 2 for $795 which is cheaper than anywhere else I went too and online too. The staff is friendly and there is a wide variety of firearms and ammo you can't find anywhere else. I walked out with an AR on my first visit!!! Pretty cool mounted animals that are inside the store! Months earlier I had lost my balance in a Colorado river and lost my five weigh fly rod and needed to get it replaced. With a little bit of direction, I found a great inexpensive fly rod. The sales person threw on a reel and a five weight line and test it out! The rod had a great feel with that line, it was like second nature casting it. I felt like a number of the staff, (at least in the fly fishing area) knew what they were talking about and were familiar with a number of places that I go fly fishing. It makes a big difference when the sales staff is familiar with your fly fishing style. The selection of fly's were pretty impressive! They carry a large number of fly rods, waders, and gear of all types. They also carry a number of fly fishing gifts as well! I'm sorry to report that I do not remember the sales persons names that helped me, but the customer service was great! I will be back next time i'm in the area! read more

Its a dark morning with no moon, the birds have been roosting all night. The air is cold like steel. Methodically I go through my ritual of packing my shooting bag, gun, decoys, gloves, waders, jacket. Duck hunting is a lot of work. It's a tradition I want my son to show my grandson. Still an hour before sunrise, the ducks are preparing to jump from pond to pond. The sky is beginning to soften on the horizon. The anticipation makes me work faster setting out decoys, watching the water ripple I wade through, now beginning to notice the dark curtain lifting. A summer of waiting, preparing, outfitting is almost over as I sit under natural cover trying to become part of the landscape. In the distance I hear wings, still too dark to see the birds, still too dark to see me. They rush in, fly through, circle, then land. Now just enough light to make them out. A majestic pair of Mallards. I will leave them on the water. More will come. For now am just enjoying the morning. I laugh to myself as I hear my friend John say "the birds fly so fast because they know they are delicious". I take my share for the day, no more. 2 Gadwall hens, 1 Blue Wing Teal, one American Widgeon, and those two Mallards. Later that evening as I sit by the chiminea under the influence of red wine and pinion smoke John asks me where I bought that shooting bag, his is wearing out. I draw some smoke from my cigar and as I exhale I tell him Sportsmans Finest out in Bee Caves. read more

Good selection, pricey though, often dug up neat things; at the end of the day they aren't very genuine people. Funny how some people can take a couple thousand dollars and write you a receipt and then ask you never to come back. Nothing but the classiest behavior. Buyer beware. Even if you think you are spending money, you aren't. They look at your average serious collector that isn't "Michael Dell" wealthy about the same way H und K look at civilians. I spent many a thousand of dollars with them and was unhappy with service on just one occasion (after years of trading with them). Kicked me to the curb as a customer just like some of my smith friends have kicked them to the curb for when they go to look for having some of their NFA toys fixed. Charles and August both were asked to explain themselves before I gave them negative reviews (now MANY months later) to the rather close-knit community of people that are enthusiasts and mechanics of interesting firearms. Can't keep a gunsmith and everybody else in the region seems to be able to. Poor service and high prices.I was waiting for 15 min for someone on help me with a handgun. There were 3 employees there shooting the shi# and not one person made eye contact with me or asked me if I needed help. There was also one other customer in the store who left as well when they teceived no help. This will be the last time I come here. Also the old guy employee was being rude to a customer on phone and called a customer an "asshole" after he hung up. Took my Stryker crossbow to Sportsman's Finest to have warranty issues remedied by the manufacturer, BowTech, Inc. I advised the technician that I had already spoke with BowTech and they were anticipating the arrival of my crossbow for warranty repairs (which must be coordinated thru one of their dealers). I let the technician know I was very anxious to get the bow back in time to hunt during the remaining deer season. I contacted the technician a week later to get status and he tells me they still need to package it and send to manufacturer. REALLY??? I immediately drive over to Sportsman's Finest and pick up my my crossbow. This is really disappointing as I was able to take it to Cabelas where they obtained return authorization from BowTech and shipped the same day. Don't think I'll be doing any more business with Sportsman's Finest. read more

Sportsmen Finest is a sweet manly store to visit. There's a bear statue inside that greets you and firearms to the right and fishing equipment to the left. There's also a large freshwater tank with a big fat bass in there. The guys there are very knowledgeable about their department. They have a very comprehensive selection of Simms, Patagonia fishing equipment. I always go here to buy flies before going out of town because of a large plentiful selection of flies. I have also taken a fly casting lesson from one of their instructors. Prior I could cast w/low accuracy and low range. After 1 lesson, my double haul was farther and much more accurate. Without casting lessons, I had a hard time catching reds and bonefish, but now my chances are much improved. The only negativity to this store are their hours and prices. It's kinda pricey, but I support them since they are local and non-chain. read more

Micheal in the gun department is excellent asking good questions before he makes recommendations. Stacy, Josh and the entire fishing department are excellent on answering questions, providing fishing spot tips and taking care for your fly fishing needs. This past week I had a fly fishing lesson with Stacy and it was very helpful in introducing me to fly fishing. I returned the next day to practice in their casting pool and Stacy and Josh were out there helping customers and answering questions. All the staff are very knowledgable and helpful. I have taken Casting Lessons which were very helpful and also received a lot of education from the sales staff as a new person picking up fly fishing.
