Let me start by saying... I live in Colorado... My F-150 suddenly had electrical issues and would no longer turn on. I had to have it towed to my local Ford dealership where I had to keep checking in on them to see if they had diagnosed my problem(s) yet. It was important for me to have a working vehicle so I could get my kids to/from school, get to work etc. After more than a week they finally said that a BCM had gone out. Here's where things take a turn for the worst and Capitol City Ford comes through. My local dealership says that the part I need is on national backorder. They have no ETA for the part! I begin scouring the internet and order the part twice only to be told they don't actually have the part on hand, that it's on backorder and then promptly cancel my order. I called all over the country trying to find the part, most places tell me they don't have it and then quickly get off the phone. I called Capitol City Ford and spoke to Jim M. who was kind and professional. He looked up the part, then said he would physically check their inventory. Sure enough they had the BCM, however my local dealership was not willing to arrange for and accept delivery. Jim worked it out to get the part shipped directly to me. Had Jim just written me off only God knows how long my truck would have been out of commission. I was about 1,100 in line for the backordered part. Horrible service, set an appointment to get my truck looked at. Dropped it off around 9:35am, several attempts on calling to see the status on my truck to get no answer. Later find out around 4pm from the service advisor that the manager removed my technician from my truck to do other work. I put off work to get my truck looked at for them to do nothing. So here's an update.. after almost a week of trying to figure out if Ford Motor Company was going to cover the damages and if the damages were indeed a result of the Factory Recall. Capitol City Ford was able to diagnose, break down and send photos to Ford Motor Company and they finally approved me for a rental (which is a whole different headache dealing with Enterprise Rental Car Irvington) I'll do a separate review about that later! I have a Ford EcoSport that is under two recalls. My car definitely has one of the problems and literally cut out on the interstate the other day. It is the only vehicle my family has and it provides transportation to and from work for 3 people. The recall repair is going to take more than one day to do. I will need them to provide me a loaner because I am not in a position to rent a car as I do not have a credit card. Capitol City Ford has been of zero help to me. They are willing to work with me to get the repair done in a reasonable amount of time but refuse to provide a loaner. They insist that I have to rent a car even knowing that I cannot do so. Ford won't help either as they say the issue is out of their hands and only in the hands of the dealer. I seriously regret buying a Ford car and I have no idea what I am going to do. it's soooooo frustrating that after 3 years of hurrying to get here before they open & trying to be 1st in line to get a simple oil change on any given saturday b/c they didn't take appointments that today (9.27.25) arrived 7:45am, I was 4th in line. When they finally opened, I got out & checked in at the service desk & of course they didn't have the professionalism to tell me that there's a lot of cars head of me b/c "they" had appointments, no they did not say nothing. They took my information & told me to go inside & wait in the waiting area. After hour half, I got concerned & went out to the service desk & asked & thats when they told me that they're taking cars "with" appointments. When I heard this I was furious! I asked them when did they start having appointments, they said few weeks ago. I asked how long for my truck to be next, they said of course not long but I couldn't wait any longer so I made an appointment for next Saturday 8am & left... I had inquired about a car online and spoke to an employee on the phone who told me to come in and test drive the vehicle the following day. I was warned the vehicle was popular and may sell soon but that I would be informed if it did sell before I came to look at it. I left work early the following day to make sure I made it to the dealership before close. With traffic conditions, I was on the road for 2 hours. I made it to the dealership an hour before closing time and was told that the car was sold the previous day. I wasn't made aware of that until I spoke to a desk attendant. The attendant told me there were no other cars like that and turned me away. 3 1/2 hour round trip wasted due to poor communication. Unprofessional. read more

In shopping for a new truck I came across Capitol City Ford. Researched the vehicle on line and compared prices on similar models. The pricing seemed to be good, so I called, once connected with a sales associate I learned that "all of their vehicles are marked above MSRP", even at least one of the used trucks was several thousand dollars more than the original MSRP. I understand demand is high at this point but I cannot recommend a dealer that is asking more than MSRP for any of their common vehicles. Specialty vehicles maybe, but not for a standard truck. It tells me all I need to know about the integrity of the dealership. If this dealer will take advantage of you now, what will they do when the market returns to normal? Can you trust their service? Where else are they taking advantage? Remember this when the supply returns to normal and choose a dealer that didn't take advantage of the situation. read more

But there is no communication, no calls returned, and just flat lies about when your vehicle will be ready. They have had mine for 2 months. So after reading the reviews I was a little nervous taking "my baby" there, but I was so pleasantly surprised. They were very friendly and professional. The service department was patient with me and all my questions. I got there right when they opened and there was already a line, so I was thinking it would take forever. They were quick and efficient. Service Department at Capitol City Ford: JOE GARZA in the service department is AWESOME!!! I took in my Ford Fiesta under extremely short notice. The same day I gave them a call I was able to get my car looked at. I was there for no more then 10 minutes total and I was given an answer to my problem and told I would get a call back about when they received the parts in. The NEXT day I got a call and they set me up with an appointment for early the next week. All I have are positive words from my encounter with Joe in their service department! Identifying CC as grossly incompetent is a complement. Bought my 2022 Escape new from CC Indy 4/2022. Beginning in July, a 'flapping' noise developed in the passenger rear tire well. After waiting 6 weeks for a service apt they 'heard' the noise on a test drive but claimed it was a 'one off' issue. After I researched the issue it, is was a known problem as +85 other cars were experiencing the same issue. After 5 visits and (allegedly) the Ford Factory rep driving the car it was 'fixed.' Much to my dismay the flapping noise returned on my drive home from that exact service appointment. Also mentioned a squeezing brake issue when backing up and Service MGR told me 'Ford using cheap Chinese parts' was the issue. Again, doing my own research there is a TSB identifying the squeaking brake issue. Took my car to Pearson Ford 1/2023 and they fixed the flapping noise on the first visit (two hour wait); TSB brake parts on back order. read more

Crooked & fraudulent! Was told to drop car off to look at warranty repairs from accident they failed to notice some repairs needed the first time months ago. Now they're holding my car for a diagnosis fee they failed to mention until car was already dropped off & being looked at. I have phone calls recorded & no agreement for this was mentioned yet the dealers insist that it was agreed upon. I'm contacting their corporate office, UDAP, BBB, Ch. 6 news, Ch. 13 and a lawyer. This is not right as a fixed income would make us ignorant for taking it if we don't have the money for fee we didn't know about in the first place; mind you the ticket signed says nowhere anything about a fee, yet they don't care. They say they go over and inspect their used car fleet prior to selling. This is untrue. They slap a for sale sticker in the window and call it done. They do wash it and clean the inside. I bought an auto from them and they had not even changed the oil. Most used car companies get the vehicle basic maintenance prior to listing. The customer would rather have the car with basic conditioning than having to have everything done after a sale. So what if you pay a little more, it takes the hassle out of getting it done. read more

This dealership refused to allow me to have the car inspected by a mechanic. I had given them a check for the total amount of the vehicle. Prior to test driving to prevent the vehicle being sold, I test drove the car, found that there was a noise coming from the suspension area, that sounded like a weak strut. I asked management to drive the car so that they could hear and address the problem, Tony one of the used car managers told me that him driving the vehicle would not do me any good that he wasn't a mechanic he was a salesman. I asked to take the car to a mechanic to have it checked out. He told me no that he would sell the car to another customer who wouldn't bother taking it to have it inspected. He also stated that all their cars go through a safety inspection before hitting the lot. I looked outside and seen my 15 year old daughter admiring her sweet sixteen birthday gift and decided to proceed with the purchase. My salesman Alex was awesome throughout the deal. Management was rude and very unprofessional and uncaring. After leaving the lot, I took the vehicle to a mechanic and found out the vehicle had a driver side broken control arm. So much for Capital City's safety inspection. Other then the salesman (Alex) and Finance Manager no one shook me hand and said thank you for your business. Capital City Ford use car management was more concerned about the sale. Safety and customer service was no where on their radar. I am a second time purchaser from this dealership. No make that a last time purchaser, they will never have an opportunity to treat me so rudely again. The things a parent endures, to see their child smile. read more

We were stranded on our way home between New Mexico and Ohio. I know it was my wheel baring and hoped to make it home but could not. Steve Braaten treated us like long lost friends even thought we never saw him before driving in the garage. He had us up and running and on the road in four hours. My son just happened to stop by on his way home from work and asked about a used car for me, well......they had just got this car in and Mr Datzek told him about it and let him drive it to my apartment and then I test drove it back to the dealership. They were able to get me in with no appointment and take care of me same day, but the service department was rude and unprofessional. I believe it was Steve helping me. Refused to give me a estimate on how long it would take to fix a tire. Wouldn't update me on any progress. Allowed me to sit in the lounge for 2 hours and when I finally asked what was going on he said they sent someone to get a tire a half hour ago. It would have been good to know they were sending someone across town for a tire. They should work on customer experience and being personable. read more

Charged for services not provided. I took my truck in for an oil change and tire rotation. Thge right rear tire was scuffed, and when I picked up my truck the tire was in the same location. I brought it to the attention of the service writer, who questioned the tech, who said he had rotated the tires. NOT TRUE. Don't trust them. read more

Got our recall fixed here, service was horrible and they broke the clockspring on our car and wouldn't fix it afterwards even though it was working fine before hand. Very poor service, don't recommend this place to anybody. read more

Below is a copy of the email I sent the service manager on 8/31/16, to which I received no response: "I am writing to provide feedback about my experience last week when having my 2014 Fusion repaired. The air conditioning stopped working, and as my car was still under warranty, I made arrangements to drop my car off at 7:00am on Tuesday, 8/23/16. Later that day, my Service Advisor, Steve, called to tell me that my compressor needed replaced and one had been ordered. He said it should be in the following day, Wednesday, and if not, then Thursday. He said that if the part didn't come in Wednesday, that he would get me a loaner car, as I explained that I was not able to go several days without a car. I called the service department on Wednesday, 8/24/16 around 2:00pm and was told that it was unlikely that the part would arrive, and that there were no loaner cars to give me. I was told that the part should be in Thursday. On Thursday, 8/25/16, I called around 12:00pm to request a status update. I was told that the part would not be in that day, and again there were no loaner cars to offer me. I explained my frustrations at the delay and the inconvenience of going three days without a vehicle. I was notified the following day, Friday 8/26/16 at 8:00am, that my car repair was complete. I was frustrated that a common part took several days to arrive. I was informed on three separate occasions that no loaner cars were available, after being told on the first day that if there were delays, I could use a loaner car. I spent three days either paying to use Uber services or trying to arrange rides with friends. If a loaner car was not going to be an option, then I would rather you not offer or suggest that. I wondered if my business was considered less valuable, as I was not paying for the repairs since my car was under warranty. Regardless, I would think any business would want to make a good impression with a first time customer in order to gain future business. I have no expectations from this email, and I do not want to get Steve in any sort of trouble. However, I think we can all learn and grow, which is why I took the time to provide feedback about my experience to you. Thank you for your time." I will not be getting my car serviced again at this dealership. read more

I imagine it was a vendor, but she laughed at the person on the phone and said, "we collect your company reps' business cards every time they walk in here and never set meetings. Up to this point in my life, I have always purchased new cars for a variety of reasons including the level of certainty that you walk away with knowing that the car isn't a lemon. However, this time around, I decided that I wanted a used Ford Flex around the 100k mile mark that was in decent condition. I searched the Indianapolis market for months on a daily basis to try and find the right deal. I had even test drove the car before so I knew exactly what I wanted. Eventually, I found the right deal at Sharp Cars. So I went there on a Saturday and took it for a brief test drive. There were some cosmetic defects but the car seemed functional. I traded my truck in for below what KBB suggested because I knew that I was getting a good deal. I also opted to get the extended warranty coverage in case the car was in fact a lemon. I planned to cancel after a few months if everything worked out which is what the representative had suggested. That was when everything seemed to go downhill. After purchasing the car, the check engine light went on within the thirty minutes that it took to drive home. I took it in the following week and they told me that the catalytic converter and turbo engines needed to be replaced. This was fine with me given that I thought my warranty would cover it. However, apparently the warranty from the outside provider didn't kick in until 30 days after the purchase for the very reason of car dealerships selling lemons. This meant that I had to come up with a solution directly with the dealership. Sharp Cars wasn't willing to replace the parts given that it would cost more than the car is worth. They offered to "trade me out of it" which I had never heard before. They essentially were going to find me an equal trade. My first idea was to just take my old truck back. It had only been a week but they claimed they had already sold it off. My second idea was for them to buy another Ford Flex from across town that was also a good deal and then I would buy it off them. They wouldn't budge on that. It was at this point I asked, can I just have my money back? They could keep the car and I would just look elsewhere. They were unwilling to do that. I was at their mercy while they looked for an alternative at the auction. After two weeks of them looking and finding nothing, I was getting very nervous. They were kind enough to give me a loaner car but I was ready to close this chapter, especially as time progressed. The price that I had paid for the Flex was great and I became increasingly worried they wouldn't be able to compromise. Eventually, I saw a Subaru Outback at their parent company Capital City Ford. I know in general that Subaru's are reliable so that I decided to take that. However, I ended up spending much more than I had originally budgeted for. I have waited to write this review for 3 months to see if the Subaru worked and it seems to be fine. This has been a long review but I hope that potential customers get the chance to read this before dealing with Sharp Cars or their parent company Capitol City Ford. Long story short, buying a used car obviously has a certain amount of risk. I thought that I had covered my bases. Clearly I was wrong, perhaps even due to my naivety. I know from working in customer service in my past roles, that it isn't what happens but how you handle it and they certainly could have done better. read more

Sorry to say. My wife and I have been long time loyal customers to Capital city Ford. we have purchased 4 vehicles there. I just purchased a newer used F150 lariat Crew Cab from John Datzek. I had explained to him that the air temp door on the drivers side was inoperative. he took it to service and they agreed. he asked me to bring it back in 30 days so the extended warranty would cover it? (not to cost them) I reluctantly agreed. when I returned the tried to charge me $1200.00 to repair it!!!! stating the warranty did not cover this item. Really ! why would anyone lose loyal customers for something as small as this? not to mention service and everything else. in the whole scheme of things the air temp. door was a minor set back for me, but they have lost a lot more than that. read more

Took truck in for service 2 weeks ago, was told they would look at it that afternoon. 2 days later I had not heard back, I called for an update and they said they would get to it shortly. Another 2 days pass and still nothing. I call again and they were getting it in to look at it. Called at the end of the following day and they inform me that it needs a timing chain. I ask how long, she said 3 days. 4 days later I call and they where still working on it. 2 days later i call again and they are telling me they need a module that they can have next day, I tell her to proceed. ANOTHER 2 days pass and still 0 communication so I call to hear they still do not have the part! I call a different local Ford dealer to find out the part can be had the next day after ordering. Call today "Friday" morning and I'm told the part will be in and they will get it installed and done today! 3:00 rolls around and I call and she isn't there, I ask to speak to the service manager and he has 0 clue besides the fact the she's complained to him that I've been bugging her about this Lol! I'm beside myself at this point! I ask for her to call me back when she returns. 4:00 pm rolls around and you guessed it, NOTHING! I call once again to be told the part didn't come in and it won't be done today! So besides extremely poor communication, pretty positive being lied too a few times throughout this and I still do not have the truck back! Needless to say I wouldn't recommend taking a bicycle to this service department! Wish me luck on ever getting the truck back :( read more

Just purchased an expensive used (2 year old) truck from this dealership. Opted out of the extended warranty. Driving it home, found out none of the buttons located on the steering wheel functioned. Called the dealership to see if they would look at the truck as a courtesy. Nope. We didn't buy the extended warranty. Did they owe me anything? No, but I'll never go back or refer anyone to that dealership. read more

I just made a deal on a vehicle at Capitol City Ford. After I agreed to the price they hit me with one of the most outrageous gotya fees I have ever heard of. They have a $195.00 THEFT FEE. Up on pressing what this fee is for, I was told that this is a fee to protect me from theft. Upon further prodding I was told that this is a fee which will pay me $2500.00 above what my insurance would pay in the event the vehicle was stolen. This was to be a cash purchase, with no risk of financial loss to either dealer or a finance company. I have no concern about the theft of my vehicles, or the ability to make up any short fall from insurance settlement if it was stolen. This is an outrageous fee, at an outrageous cost, even if needed. Who would pay $195.00 to purchase $2500.00 of insurance for very minimal risk. I would recommend you purchase elsewhere!! read more
