The guys at Capitol City are fantastic. They moved me and my fiancé from Austin to Dallas in a little under 6.5 hours, and charged the same amount as Bellhop charged me to move within Austin (less than 10 minutes total drive time). When we were unloading the truck, Travis and Vance were incredibly organized and made sure to keep the truck neat so we didn't miss anything. I recommend them to anyone doing any length of move. Vance and Travis will tell you that they're the "best in the industry" and that they have "luxury clientele" positioning themselves as a "white glove moving service" that they've been doing this for "20+ years". All that may be true, but my couch was less than 1yr old, no pets, no smoking, no kids - perfect condition. It was received ripped and soiled all over. Just look at the photos. They delivered 2 weeks later than planned, they notoriously would not answer any of my calls, and while they agreed to give me a full refund for my damages, I'm still waiting today from them to transfer me what's due. Don't waste your time here. Filing with the Better Business Bureau. *Edit- to address the comment - As Vance claims that the "couch was perfectly wrapped and padded and shrink-wrapped" then the condition of the warehouse would not have mattered, that is, if my warehouse was *actually* dirty and I *intentionally* threw my pillows on the ground and rubbed dirt all over.... It's true that I sent the photos of the damages to professional reupholstery and cleaning local businesses to gain an understanding of the fair price of compensation for the damages, and shared these quotes with Travis and Vance. Actually, the price of the repairs was not above the cost of the couch, but it was very close to the price I paid.... which makes this next part worse. Seeing that I was getting *nowhere* with compensation for reupholstery or cleaning, I just asked for a refund of my move which, in reality, is about 1/4 of the actual expense of repairs. Travis did agree to refund me my move, but as I mentioned, I never saw the money. I sent the Zelle requests, I even agreed to accept installations of $500 over several weeks because he's "cash strapped" ... all lies. I gave both Vance and Travis ample opportunity to make this right before writing this post, they didn't do the right thing and others should at least have this perspective before making a decision to hire Capitol City Moving. read more

If I could give no stars I would. they are incredible overpriced and refuse to give a refund if you do not utilize the service. And then when I stated that I do not need the movers to move my stuff I just need somebody to drive the truck they still stated that my price would be the same. I am trying to move 10 minutes away and my price was $2500. what since does that make. read more

They called me to give me a quote. The quote was extremely expensive like just raking over the coals kind of expensive. I told them I wasn't going to hire anybody to do the move I would do it myself. Now they won't stop calling me. I told them to take me off their call list as I'm not hiring them and they get rude on the phone. I would never hire a company that did business this way harassing potential customers what a bunch of crap. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Bought an antique stained glass window from a dealer in PA in February. Unfortunately, they used these clowns to have it moved to Texas. It is May 19th and we don't have the stained glass. I've spoken to Travis many times and was surprised he still answers my call. Always an excuse. Luckily the vendor has promised to refund my purchase. Do not use these deadbeats. This has been a very bad experience. read more

Today, we had Noah, Pat and Vince come out to move our stuff from storage into our new house. They were fast, professional and, most importantly, careful. We are very picky about how our furniture is moved (no stacking, everything wrapped and padded, no scratches!), and they made sure that they did everything we asked for. Plus, they sent 3 guys and a big truck for the same price that we paid for 2 guys previously. My sister also used the same company (and Noah) before and has always had good experiences as well. read more

we buy from auction houses all over the world. a purchase in Austin Texas lead us to Capitol City Movers as a recommended shipper. We were told delivery could take place within a few days to the east coast. That was the start of the BS. Delay after delay, due to travel from Texas, to Florida, to New York. Delivery days kept being pushed back, and messages from Travis Duncan stated he would drop our furniture on the way north. Days go by, then we hear its being delivered on the way back, south. Neither trip happened, and my package was handed off to another mover somewhere in Florida, damaged. We will handle this in our own way, but DO NOT give this guy access to your property. In just have to say - I thought I was going to get a great moving experience because I had been communicating with Travis for some time about my move, however, the day of the move May 24, 2014 which was confirmed on the day before, ended up being a NO SHOW....REALLY???? This is how you run your business????? - I texted you, I called in which It took forever for you to even acknowledge we had a problem and all you had to say was I can't get in touch with my workers. Well while you were vacationing in Miami, I would say that you should not have booked moving anyone since you don't actually have anyone you can depend on. I had to search for hours on the phone to find some other movers that would move me that same day. Luckily a fantastic company was able to help me and also save me a lot of money. They were way cheaper than Capitol City Moving. I chose them because they were local but ended up being a disaster. I will never recommend this company ever .............Thanks alot Travis for doing nothing and not even bothering to get back in touch with me.
