While the roof itself was completed, the lack of professionalism and total absence of communication afterward has been unacceptable. The Issues: Negligence: After finishing the roof, the crew completely forgot to reattach the gutters. Lack of Communication: It took several phone calls just to get a response regarding the gutters. I have since tried to contact them multiple times in writing regarding other issues, and they have completely ignored my messages. Property Damage/Residue: Upon closer inspection, there is now visible residue inside my bathroom skylight left behind by the workers. HOA Violations: Because this is a rental property, the detached front downspout resulted in me receiving a violation notice from my HOA before I was even aware of the problem. As a property owner I rely on contractors to be thorough and responsive. Wells Home Improvement failed on both counts. If you are looking for a company that stands by their work and communicates with their clients, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

Their quote was on the high side, but we appreciated the professionalism and how candid their inspector, Dan was. We agreed to have them come clean, tighten, seal, realign, and extend our gutters. They came one day while we were at work, and as far as we could tell didn't actually do any of the work beyond cleaning the gutters. The gutters still leaked, were bent, and they did not install the gutter extensions we agreed upon. We called the company back to come out and finish the job. They did come out and add one more gutter extension, but still failed to realign our gutters, replace the miter joints on the corners, and seal the gutters. What a waste of money. We are very disappointed and in the future will go another roofing company - these folks will take your money and not satisfactorily complete the work.

From the inspection, we knew it needed replacement slate shingles for broken/missing ones, new sealant on the top ridges, as well as a chimney cap put on. Did my research and Boyd came highly recommended. Reached out and called them, and Chris was able to schedule a visit for the following week. Dan came out, got up on the roof in multiple spots to check everything over - and even found one other problem spot. He was on time for the scheduled estimate, polite, very knowledgeable, and gave me quotes on two other optional things I was also considering. Sent over the detailed quote by email PDF the next day and answered all follow-up questions I had. They scheduled us in pretty quickly for the work, and despite that massive windstorm - kept to their appointment in the aftermath and didn't bump us for other repairs. The prices were very reasonable. I hope we don't need to call them any time soon, but I would if I needed similar services. I know they're supposed to be but they were great before the sale. The sales team kept in touch, came out to walk us through the process. They even stopped by to pick up a check. And it didn't feel pushy or sleazy. I felt like they genuinely wanted to serve us.

Victor came out and conducted a garage attic inspection using a tall ladder ceiling hatch. He didn't enter the lighted attic but just did a visual inspection using a flashlight. After his inspection, Victor claimed one side of my roof needed an asphalt roofing patch. What he didn't tell me was that, five to six feet from his attic ladder inspection, was an extremely obvious water pipe leak that had created black fungus on nearby wood. So obvious you could easily view without a flashlight. So what we have here is deceiving a possible customer by telling him he has a roofing leak when, in reality, a plumber was needed to correct the interior water pipe leak. Thus, my one-star rating, which actually should be lower.

I have a rental property in Edgewater. The roof at the rental property needed replacement about a…read moreyear ago so I went looking for some company in the area of the rental property to make the replacement. I talked to some friends in the area who had worked with and thought well of Black Anchor. So I called, liked their owner manager Richard Cassidy, and took the chance. It was a simple job and it went well, finished on time and on the original estimate. Several months ago there was a major storm in the Edgewater area with lots of tree fall damage and a substantial amount of it on my rental house. I called Black Anchor again and found to my wonderment that when insurance companies are involved the companies like Black Anchor that provide the repairs work directly with the insurance company, submit proposals to the insurer, negotiate the damage cost and reach an agreement that makes the deal. Cassidy did a great job of working with the insurer and then making the repairs. He did a very fine job of pulling it all together with minimum load on me. Because the work was well done and the insurance company handled well, I gave Black Anchor 4 stars.

I looked them up and discovered that nearly all of the ten or so companies that came by were from out of state. I researched, found Black Anchor, saw that they are local, and am very happy I went with them. They were great from beginning to end. Every single person I met on their team was courteous, pleasant and professional. I can't really imagine being any happier with this company and their work, and that's rare for me to say. If they did it all for free that might make me a little more happy but I guess that's a little unrealistic so I won't hold it against them. But they patiently helped and worked with us throughout the process, answering all our questions and helping us make sure that all the storm damage on our home was identified and addressed appropriately. And that damage in our case went beyond just damage to our roof, but also to downspouts, metal accents on the exterior of our home, window screens and more. Black Anchor helped us with all of that. They tore off our old roof and replaced it with the new roof using architectural shingles in one day. They were focused and efficient and have been a pleasure to work with all along the way. You can tell they really want to do a good job for their customers and I see why their ratings are so high here. I could go on but I think you get the picture. In short, I highly recommend Black Anchor Roofing. It seems to me like a great company that does great work and that is run by a great group of guys.
