This place just opened their newest location in Harrisonburg over the summer. We decided to stop in not knowing fully what to expect. We knew they had savory and sweet waffles, but still, a sweet waffle under eggs and sausage gravy? First off, the place is tiny. Not sure if this part of the company wide aesthetic or if it's a what budget would allow. Know going in that they can seat about 10 people indoors and all tables are 2 tops. We arrived around 10 on a Saturday morning and we're able to walk right in and order immediately. Signs on the wall indicate that during busy times waits can be an hour. They do each waffle on order and only so many waffle makers can run at once. So, expect a wait if it's crowded. It was picking up as we left around 11. Is it worth it? That's totally ip to you. We were pleasantly surprised by our waffles. We ordered the Country Breakfast Waffle (egg, sausage gravy, bacon), and the Queso, Egg, Bacon Waffle. They were fantastic. The waffles are not sweet and they are thick, so they can carry that savory very well. The thing that could've gone wrong here was the sausage gravy. You know as well as I do that some places know how to do it, and some just don't. This gravy was well done. And the bacon!! Check my pictures for how much bacon they loaded up on these things! The sweet waffles we saw come out looked fantastic, if not sugar coma inducing. Not sure I could start my day with that much of a sugar bomb. Ending my my day with it though? Absolutely. Capitol Waffle Shop just opened in Harrisonburg and I love it already! The staff is so friendly and the decor is so fun with many waffle puns, jokes, and memes. As this is their soft opening, there have a great menu to start with! You can build your own waffle with savory and sweet options or you can see their location options as well. Also, you can choose between a half waffle or full waffle! Their mimosa options are so good as you can get a traditional mimosa or twisted mimosa with other juice options! Highly recommend! I got the Egg Queso and Bacon full waffle with a Twisted Mimosa and it was everything that I needed! Mimosas with waffles are a MUST! The only con is the location as there is very little seating inside (four tables with 2 chairs each) so be prepared to either wait for a seat or take your food to go! So delicious! The waffles taste wonderful and the mimosa was perfect. The coffee is also phenomenal. The shop is small and I imagine can get crowded and busy at times. So, the food here was absolutely delicious. I love everything about the menu (except that there was no coffee. A breakfast place without coffee is just wrong!) The waffles were amazing. We loved building our own savory breakfast waffles. However, we will probably never go here again. This place is so small and cramped and stuffed full of hungry people and the wait is basically guaranteed to be an hour or more (it even says so on their wall.) So if you have all day to sit around waiting (and you are lucky enough to get a table) and you really want some amazing (though potentially cold) waffles, this might be the perfect spot for you. I just don't have the patience to wait this long normally, especially when I am hungry. I do understand that they are limited to the small space and the number of waffle irons they can have in one place due to the fire hazard -- this makes perfect sense and I think it's still workable. However, on a really busy weekend I do not understand why there was only one person working. I watched a number of people come into the store and then turn around and leave once they realized how long it was going to be. And yes, it would still be a wait with two people working, but I think they could easily pay for a second person working based on how many more orders they would have made if they'd had someone working the register and then turning around and supporting the person making waffles when the line was taken care of. As it was, by the time we finally got our waffles, they were cold and hard. They were still delicious because of all the toppings we piled on them, but they would have been a LOT better if they were warm, and it would've been easier to serve them warm if they had more workers. I'm still giving this place a high rating because the food was great and I see the potential and I want to see them succeed. But as they are now I just don't want to come back. The wait was excruciating. Maybe we will try again in a year and see if they have gotten better at managing the rush and put more people on the floor. We have eaten here before with no complaints great food great service. Today we came in and it was relatively busy but manageable or so what I thought. We were seated for 20 minutes and not even our drink order was taken. Other customers who came in after us were seated given menus and either asked immediately what they'd like to drink or shortly there after. Overall really disappointed with the service and I hope this is fixed so I can come back and enjoy good food with good service. read more

This place hit the spot! Was driving through the area and just a glance at the menu made me want to go. I got the sugar waffles topped with chorizo sausage, scrambled eggs, and queso. My family and I were so excited to try this place after reading all of the great reviews. I'm sorry to say we were extremely disappointed. The coffee was... I don't even know. Watered down? It was undrinkable, I know that. My breakfast (the egg, queso, & bacon waffle) was absolutely foul and after about 5 bites I left the remainder on the plate. And it wasn't necessarily the combination of the sweet, slightly undercooked, malty tasting waffle with the overly salted eggs, pre-cooked a few days ago bacon, or questionable queso that made it unappealing, as the elements on their own were not even tasty. I left hungry and completely dissatisfied. Usually I am willing to give places a second chance... that will not be happening with the Capital Waffle Shop. read more

Very long wait (an hour ish) during peak hours, which was expected as it's quite a small place, but they could've had an extra worker on shift. It's a tiny little spot with about 6 tables that seat two each, so it's not for a big crowd, but the food is delicious and the staff is super friendly. And contrary to another review, they do have coffee. 2 of us walked in around 10 am on a Saturday, got the last table, and had our food within 5 minutes. Tables do turn over quickly. Well worth it!!! trying to find a parking spot to be able to even get to this place is truly a hassle. besides that, we get inside and it wasn't very busy at all, but every empty table was still piled up with plates and drinks. we finally got seated and the waiter proceeded to have a very bad attitude, he threw the menus onto our table with a very hateful look on his face and proceeded to walk away. without asking what we wanted to drink, he placed waters down, once again very aggressively and walked away. i had to basically stare the waitress down in order for him or her to even come to us to get our orders. while she was taking our order, she proceeded with an attitude just the same as the waiter we had previously. it came about 30 mins of us waiting around, we asked her to cancel our order and she very rudely said "yeah give me a minute" so we proceeded to wait on her and she never came back to us to let us know if it was cancelled it not. eventually, we just got up and left. read more
