We were very happy with the takeout lunch we ordered. We have done this twice, both times were delicious.

Reunion has been a breath of fresh air - really good espresso drinks, pastries, and breads. To be 100% honest, Crucible's coffee is better, but their pastry selection is minuscule and they can feel a bit stuffy. Reunion's pastries are good, though I wish they had more French-inspired things like pain au chocolat, croissants, or even soft cinnamon rolls, but I feel they excel more at the breads side of baking. I got a mini sourdough loaf once and it was excellent! Service is always friendly and happy, and the shop itself is cute, but there isn't much space inside. I'm all for tables outside, but there's not much real estate there either, especially on a busy morning. I think a small adjustment to flow could make it easily sit a couple cafe tables inside without it feeling so crowded. I just miss the days of being able to hang out and have good coffee and snacks while doing some work on a laptop. Seems like most businesses would rather have you out the door instead. I have high standards for bakeries and cafes, and Reunion meets most of them. They're now my favorite place to go in the mornings in Staunton... if they're open. I would go there much more often if I could actually eat my breakfast there instead of having to get back in my car or sit in the blistering summer heat.

I thought about ordering the quiche to go for lunch on the train but it was way too big for one person and would likely be a bit messy. I'd like to go back and try their other pastries and breads next time I'm in Staunton! and their coffee, I was in a rush to make my train so didn't get coffee.

Love a classic afternoon tea that won't break the bank? Heritage Cafe is the place. Enjoyed the…read moreFull Tea, which included unlimited tea, 3 savory sandwiches, 3 sweets, and a fresh generously sized scone (today's flavor was lemon and ginger). Seriously, these were some of the best scones I've ever had - crispy sweet outer texture, soft and fluffy on the inside, no crumbly mess like other scones. Wide selection of teas to choose from - I picked the lightly fruity Lady Grey, my husband the warm and toasty Genmaicha. And the savory sandwiches were a step up from the basic white bread standard - roast beef on a pretzel bun, tuna on a croissant, open faced cucumber, chicken with roasted red pepper spread. A lovely way to spend a late morning or early afternoon in downtown Harrisonburg.

I ordered chicken pot pie, a little key lime pie bite and sweet tea. The crust on the chicken pot pie was exceptionally tasty and the pie bite was just the right size. You don't feel like you are downtown. The serving pieces were vintage and really helped capture the vibe. Because the food was amazing, service friendly and atmosphere cozy, I'm really excited to go back and try more. This is my new favorite place!

I asked her to make Texas sheet cake, of which she'd never done, and she discovered there was a chocolate and a blonde recipe out there. She made both, not know which we preferred, and also added a few other cupcakes to add color and more flavor to our assortment - all of her own doing and not asking to charge us extra. We gladly compensated her for her sweet thoughtfulness and for treating our daughter's wedding as if it were thing she had on her plate. She's delightful, dependable, and took our daughters wedding personal to make it a beautiful presentation. We travelled back to TN with the few left over desserts and I seriously have hidden them to eat them myself. Highly recommend. She's very responsive and a pro and her sweet husband helped with the delivery.

The chocolate cupcake was fluffy, moist, and evenly filled with chocolate ganache. The peanut butter buttercream frosting was one of the best I've had; not overly sweet and was not at all gritty! The individual boxes that the cupcakes came in were a wonderful, unexpected touch. The process for ordering and picking up the cupcakes was effortless. Brenda, the store owner, was a sweet woman who took my phone call with excitement. She walked me through her flavor profiles and gave me an affordable rate for a half dozen cupcakes. I ordered approximately 5 days before I needed to pick them up with no issues. I even gave her an approximate time I would pick them up at and she made sure to have them ready by then. On pickup day, I drove out to her home which was minutes off Route 29 (behind the CVS on Moore Rd.) Her home, including her kitchen, were immaculate and very, very clean! Just a wonderful experience all around! Please consider giving your business to a local baker!
